VILLA CHAMPANA is a beautiful 8 bedroom villa perfect for several families and friends wishing to holiday together where 20 guests can be accommodated with ease. The key features of this villa are the spacious accommodation, large swimming pool, sunny and shaded al-fresco dining areas and a number of terraces and patios to choose from - something for everyone! The setting is peaceful and tranquil with no neighbours immediately close by so children playing in the pool or adults staying up late are no problem! Around 1km is a great Portuguese restaurant and also a late night bar - all traditional in style with entertainment most weekends in high season. The local town and beach are just a 5 minute drive away and offer a good choice of amenities and lovely long golden sands with blue flag status. Villa Champana is the perfect retreat for friends and families wishing to spend their holiday time together in a spacious, private and peaceful villa set in beautiful surroundings.

VILLAGE LOCATION: Champana is a small village close to Corte Antonio Martins within the hills district of Tavira. Although not totally isolated, the farmhouse is in a tranquil setting where car hire is essential for grocery shopping. Approximately 1km away from the farmhouse you'll find 'Casa de Pasto Fernandes' - a good quality Portuguese Restaurant serving fish and meat. A little further on there is also 'Bar Ronaldo' an English owned bar that welcomes many visitors and opens until late. For a greater choice of restaurants, shops and bars, the town of Vila Nova de Cacela is only 6kms South and offers facilities including supermarkets, bus stops, train station and a bank. It should be noted that there is little evidence of tourism - this is a quiet location with friendly locals and reasonable prices - but with something for everyone! Every 3rd Sunday of the month, the town becomes a bustling hive of activity where there is a huge visiting market selling everything from fresh local produce to clothes, leather goods and hardware! A taste of the real Algarve! This location is perfect for those who desire, uninterrupted peace, no passing traffic and wonderful mountain scenery.

On entering the house you cannot fail to be impressed by the quality of the furnishings which are rich in design and texture. This is a villa with traditional taste and comfort. From the main pool area, the kitchen/dining area offers a warm welcome and is fully fitted with modern appliances suitable for large party catering. The main living areas then offer 2 lounges; 1 with comfortable seating and space for socialising, the other for relaxing, watching the TV or listening to music. However, the most fabulous feature of this living area has to be the central lounge area which has a pool table - perfect for challenging sports amongst friends! Leading to the rear of the ground floor are 2 double bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a large utility room. The hall stairs then lead to 6 double bedrooms (1 family style with bunk beds) and 2 more bathrooms. The front bedrooms lead to a spacious terrace with fabulous views.

Set in its own 2 hectare paradise, this villa has mature gardens and beautiful plants and flowers. The villa approach is by a short private country track with ample parking space for a number of cars. The outside areas offer a good sized pool with surrounding terraces and sun loungers for your enjoyment. Poolside Al-fresco dining with this property is a must - the traditional brick BBQ is situated at the end of 2 terraces both of which have dining areas suitable for large groups either in the sun or the shade. To the rear of the house there is a further shaded terrace which overlooks the beautiful countryside. For further enjoyment, the extensive first floor terraces leading from the upper bedrooms are also furnished with tables and chairs offering more space to relax and enjoy the peaceful ambience.

Changeover days are flexible. Normal check in time is 4pm and checkout 10am. These times will only be applied if absolutely necessary and we will accommodate arrival and departure as fully as possible. Management Company available throughout stay for assistance if required.

The Algarve region

With its stunning coastline, excellent golf courses and pleasant year round climate, the Algarve's 200 kilometre stretch of southern shoreline has become one of Europe's most popular holiday destinations. Bordered on two sides by the Atlantic Ocean, the Algarve is divided from the rest of Portugal by a series of low lying mountains. In the east, the Guadiana River forms a scenic border with neighbouring Spain.

There is a clear definition between the Western Algarve and the East. Whilst the West shows more development towards tourism, the Eastern Algarve and its tidal marshlands still have a tranquil beauty, and the small resorts along the coast have retained much of their character, looking today as they must have looked long ago. Here, tourism blends in perfectly with local activities creating a relaxed way of life. There is a tinge of excitement and even romance about the ferry boat trips to the beach islands, where visitors are rewarded with superb, less crowded bathing beaches and warm waters.

The sea water temperature is around 14c in January and reaches a high 22c in August. A pleasant sea breeze refreshes the temperatures of the region, which are around 15c in January and up to 28c or more in July and August. The Algarve can also count on around 3.000 hours of Sun during the year which makes it a favourite destination for those who fancy such a sunny climate. The autumn and winter months are mild, but you will need a jacket in the evening and some kind of heating in your apartment or hotel room. January is the coolest month of the year.



When staying in this accommodation a visit to the beautiful town of Tavira is essential! You will not fail to be enthralled by its unspoilt charm, character and tranquility. As you wander along the cobbled streets, you'll see an abundance of history dating as far back as 2000BC. A Roman bridge links the 2 parts of the town across the River Gilao, its sides decorated with traditional old bars and restaurants where you can relax and enjoy a peaceful drink or meal. Horse drawn carriages and a small train operate around the town and are perfect for sightseeing and enjoying the peaceful ambience. The many churches (37 in total!), the town castle and the typical fisherman's harbour leading to the River Formosa Natural Park are all places to visit, along with the wonderful daily market selling fresh home grown produce. Tavira Island and its wonderful beach is accessible by ferry boat from the town and offers excellent facilities with a wonderful holiday atmosphere.


The Algarve is famous for its wonderful sandy shores. There are an abundance of excellent clean beaches close to the farmhouse. Our best recommendation is Manta Rota approximately 7 kms away, and here you will find golden sands, rolling sea, sunbeds for hire and a selection of beautiful beachside restaurants - as well as plenty of walking space! In high season. the large central square adjacent to the beach holds live events including music concerts, market stalls and beach parties. In addition, the Manta Rota Beach Club hosts a large and unusual venue in the shape of golf ball which has dancing and music inside with world famous DJs and live acts! - Great fun for the younger generation who seek a little night life!

OTHER THINGS TO SEE AND DO travelling a little further afield there are a good range of things to do to suit all tastes. For nature lovers there are forest walks, cruises along the River Guadiana or natures trails along the Ria Formosa Reserve where bird watching is in abundance! By travelling towards the West there are some excellent shopping centres in Faro and Ghia as well as the famous Water Parks and Zoo Marine (wonderful for children), all easily reached by car (around 45 minutes) or by day trip coach. From this property it is easy to take a day trip to Spain. The lovely border town of Ayamonte is only around 15 minutes by car, and once there you can sample the delights of another country, including wine, tapas and excellent shopping. Or you can travel by car, local bus or train to Vila Real de Santo Antonio and from there take the 15 minute ferry crossing to Ayamonte. For the more adventurous the vibrant city of Seville is approx 170km away. For budding historians the Castle at Castro Marim is worth a look.


This is perfect accommodation for golfers wishing to sample the excellent courses situated in the Eastern Algarve. Within a 20km radius there are 7 courses to choose from. Benamor and the 2 Quintas (Ria and Cima) are the most popular and can be reached within several minutes. The prestigious new course of Monte Rei designed by Jack Nicklaus now has its first 18 holes open and is continuing in its development to the second phase offering the height of golfing luxury - although a costly experience, this is a real treat for golfing fanatics wishing to experience a little high life! However - also an ideal place for any non golfer who may enjoy the clubhouse facilities where you can have a Full English Breaksfast, a high class meal in the a la Carte Restaurant or simply a good quality snack - all in a wonderful picturesque setting. Travelling only 10kms further on towards Spain, the challenging course of Castro Marim, along with its famous country club comes highly recommended and just on the border are the Costa Esuri and Quinta do Vale courses now growing in popularity.
