This design of this house is cheerfully bright and spacious and opens onto an unspoilt land and seascape (2.5 hectares!) with a swimming pool and large private sunbathing deck. The house consists of 2 levels and has generous accommodation in the most unique layout. There are 4 bedrooms in total and the ideal sleeping capacity is 8 persons. There is a choice of 4 bathrooms, some of which are en suite.
Outside, The BBQ and numerous shaded terraces are just perfect for relaxing and al fresco dining - along with a 20m x 10m fenced recreation area, perfect for children to play safely. The unspoilt natural beauty of this property - which is very rustic and quaint - is enhanced by clever planting and stone walled pathways running between rock outcrops and ancient carob, olive and fig trees.

The house is uniquely designed on 3 levels and is deceptively spacious. From the main entrance, you are welcomed by the reception lounge with comfortable chairs and TV. This is one of 2 lounges which therefore offers a choice to larger guest parties. Leading from this are 2 double bedrooms. Bedroom 1 overlooks the gardens and out towards the coast. Each of these bedrooms has an adjoining bedroom, 1 with a single bed and 1 with bunk beds making these 2 rooms perfect for families.
Finally there are 2 bathrooms for each family quarter with bath, overhead shower and WC. The stair case to the upper floor leads to a landing with table and chairs in the house eaves and here one can find privacy to enjoy private relaxation or reading time. The staircase to the lower floor leads to the main lounge with SKY TV and books for your enjoyment.
To the right is the kitchen/diner which is rustic and country-like in design. An excellent place to cook in with its Central Island Hob Feature. There are also 2 further bedrooms on this floor; a twin and a double room (this one is quite small, but can sleep 2 people). There are shower rooms to accompany both of these rooms.
To note the sleeping capacity is 9 persons comfortably, although there is a small double room which could accommodate an extra 2 persons, therefore making 11 persons in total if so desired.

The gates lead to an impressive driveway with parking for a large number of cars. Enter here and enter your own kingdom! The gardens with the house span around 2.5 hectares and offer plenty of space to relax, walk or for the children to play safely. The gardens are natural and filled with wild flowers and shrubs. The pool has decking with sun loungers for your enjoyment. The house itself has a number of shaded patio areas, perfect for alfresco dining and - of course - have beautiful garden, countryside and sea vistas.

Changeover days are flexible. Normal check in time is 4pm and checkout 10am. These times will only be applied if absolutely necessary and we will accommodate arrival and departure as fully as possible. Villa care company available throughout stay for assistance if required. Linen change and cleaning weekly.

The Algarve / East Algarve region


With its stunning coastline, excellent golf courses and pleasant year round climate, the Algarve's 200 kilometre stretch of southern shoreline has become one of Europe's most popular holiday destinations. Bordered on two sides by the Atlantic Ocean, the Algarve is divided from the rest of Portugal by a series of low lying mountains. In the east, the Guadiana River forms a scenic border with neighbouring Spain.
There is a clear definition between the Western Algarve and the East. Whilst the West shows more development towards tourism, the Eastern Algarve and its tidal marshlands still have a tranquil beauty, and the small resorts along the coast have retained much of their character, looking today as they must have looked long ago. Here, tourism blends in perfectly with local activities creating a relaxed way of life. There is a tinge of excitement and even romance about the ferry boat trips to the beach islands, where visitors are rewarded with superb, less crowded bathing beaches and warm waters.
The sea water temperature is around 14c in January and reaches a high 22c in August. A pleasant sea breeze refreshes the temperatures of the region, which are around 15c in January and up to 28c or more in July and August. The Algarve can also count on around 3.000 hours of Sun during the year which makes it a favourite destination for those who fancy such a sunny climate. The autumn and winter months are mild, but you will need a jacket in the evening and some kind of heating in your apartment or hotel room. January is the coolest month of the year.
The Tavira / Santo Estevao area
The House is situated in the East Algarve, in the village of Santo Estevao, around 5km from the picturesque and historic town of Tavira and around 35km from Faro. It takes around 30 minutes to reach the villa from the airport, depending on the road used. St Estevao village can be reached in 15minutes on foot and has a small range of facilities including cafes, restaurants, 2 grocery shops and a post office with free 30 minute internet sessions.
BEACHES
The Algarve is famous for its wonderful sandy shores. There are an abundance of excellent clean beaches close to the villa. We have 2 recommendations: Barill Beach is reached by taking the main EN125 road for around 4kms. The seashore itself is reached by small train - which often delights children - and once there, visitors are rewarded with clean and expansive white sands as well as a full range of amenities including beach restaurants,shops and sunbeds and shades for hire. Tavira Island (�Ilha de Tavira�) is accessed by small ferry boat from the main town harbour and boasts a wonderful holiday atmosphere akin to the Caribbean!
THE BEAUTIFUL TOWN OF TAVIRA
When staying in this accommodation a visit to the beautiful town of Tavira is essential! You will not fail to be enthralled by its unspoilt charm, character and tranquillity. As you wander along the cobbled streets, you'll see an abundance of history dating as far back as 2000BC. A Roman bridge links the 2 parts of the town across the River Gilao, its sides decorated with traditional old bars and restaurants where you can relax and enjoy a peaceful drink or meal. Horse drawn carriages and a small train operate around the town and are perfect for sightseeing and enjoying the peaceful ambience. The many churches (37 in total!), the town castle and the typical fisherman's harbour leading to the River Formosa Natural Park are all places to visit, along with the wonderful daily market selling fresh home grown produce. Tavira Island and its wonderful beach is accessible by ferry boat from the town and offers excellent facilities with a wonderful holiday atmosphere.
OTHER THINGS TO SEE AND DO
By travelling a little further afield there are a good range of things to do to suit all tastes. For nature lovers there are forest walks, cruises along the River Guadiana or natures trails along the Ria Formosa Reserve where bird watching is in abundance! By travelling towards the West there are some excellent shopping centres in Faro and Ghia as well as the famous Water Parks and Zoo Marine (wonderful for children), all easily reached by car (around 45 minutes) or by day trip coach. From this property it is easy to take a day trip to Spain. The lovely border town of Ayamonte is not far by car, and once there you can sample the delights of another country, including wine, tapas and excellent shopping. Or you can travel by car, local bus or train to Vila Real de Santo Antonio and from there take the 15 minute ferry crossing to Ayamonte. For the more adventurous the vibrant city of Seville is approx 170km away. For budding historians the Castle at Castro Marim is worth a look.
GOLF
This is perfect accommodation for golfers wishing to sample the excellent courses situated in the Eastern Algarve. Within a 20km radius there are 7 courses to choose from. Benamor and the 2 Quintas (Ria and Cima) are the most popular and can be reached within several minutes. The prestigious new course of Monte Rei designed by Jack Nicklaus now has its first 18 holes open and is continuing in its development to the second phase offering the height of golfing luxury - although a costly experience, this is a real treat for golfing fanatics wishing to experience a little high life! Travelling only 10kms further on towards Spain, the challenging course of Castro Marim, along with its famous country club comes highly recommended and just across the border are the Costa Esuri and Quinta do Vale courses now growing in popularity. We can organise a full golfing package with 1 price per head with play at a selection of these courses, car hire and rental of this property. (Flights not included)

It is becoming increasingly easy to travel to the Algarve where the main airport is Faro. The most favoured budget airlines are Easyjet, Thomsonfly, Jet2.com, Bmi Baby and Monarch. The best website that we can recommend is www.skyscanner.net where you can select your chosen dates and preferred departure airport and you are presented with a 1 simple list of all available flights, the operator names and the prices! This saves trawling through mountains of different websites. We can assist with cheap car hire quotes or airport transfers. Please do ask us for information when making an enquiry.

We stayed in the house for a week in june 2009. We had small children and tis was perfect for us. The house was of course clean and nice.
You will need a car when you rent this house. Tavira city is a very nice Portuges town just 10 min drive. We could really recomend this lovely house to others. June 2009

• Prices are for the house and are advertised per week.Travel cots are available at 20 Euros per week and 12.50 Euros for subsequent weeks . A 20% deposit is required to secure the reservation with the balance payable 8 weeks prior to arrival. All charges include cleaning before arrival, change of linen once per week and cleaning after departure. All linen and towels are provided.
Air-Con can be provided at a charge of 50€ per week.
• Payment is preferred in the specified currency. We may have to charge you for any bank fees incurred should the payment be made in a different currency. A Refundable House Deposit of £400 or €400 will also be required.
Long term winter rentals are available at reasonable rates. Winter months may attract a small additional heating charge. Please enquire for further details.
