About the home

This apartment has been built and furnished to a high standard and is ideal for couples and families alike. It is fitted with full air-conditioning ( if required ) and a log fire for winter evenings.

Conditions

* 25% deposit is required at the time of booking, balance due eight weeks prior to arrival.
* Damage deposit of £200 will be required when paying the full balance which will be returned on inspection at the end of the holiday.
* A local charge will be made should you require Air Conditioning.
* Small breakages can be replaced prior to the end of holiday.
* Linen and towels will be provided. Not to be used outside the apartment

The Algarve / East Algarve region

The eastern Algarve is a charming region, such is the climate it can be visited all year round. The area is steeped in history with quaint villages and bustling towns.

There are numerous beautiful beaches that stretch for miles including the local beach of IIha de Tavira which can be accessed via a five minute ferry from Tavira pier head (just over €1return).

All beaches are clean with safe bathing; many protected by off shore sandbars and complimented by a number of cafes/ bars. The lovely sandy beaches of Monte Gordo, Cabanas and Manta Rota are all within 5-20 mins. drive away.

The Tavira / Pegada area

Pegada is a modern urbanization development & lays on the north side of Tavira which is 10/15mins. walk to the centre, the coastal road is nearby giving access to all beaches through to the boarder with Spain. There is also a train service that runs along the coast with the local station at Porta Nova( Pegada) being a short walk away.

Tavira dates back many years and was a major fishing area in times gone by.The rivers, Gialo and Sequo meet at this point splitting Tavira in two, the old bridge dates back to the Romans. Tavira dates back to 2000BC and is noted as a picturesque town full of cobbled streets and architecturally very attractive.

For the keen golfers, Pegada provides easy access to courses to the west at Quinta do Lago and Vale do Lobo, to the east at Quinta do Cima, Quinta do Ria and Benamor ( Henry Cotton design) some just a few minutes drive away.

Had a great and relaxing stay in your lovely home in Tavira. The apartment feels very spacious with the high ceilings and lage rooms. We had several days of rain in our short visit over Christmas so the balcony and barbeque by the kitchen were ideal as they stayed dry but meant we could still sit outside in December! The walk to Tavira was simple and took us past a small bakers that also sold good beer, coffee and pastries. We took the trip to Spain for the day and had great tapas in Ayamonte by the square. We would recommend your home to others although our first trip was a little damp.

We throughly enjoyed our stay in this superb apartment. The apartment itself is modern, spacious and furnished to a very high standard and is equipped with everything you need for a comfortable and relaxing stay. The photos depict a stunning interior and we made very good use of the balcony off the kitchen and the large roof terrace which is a real sun trap! We often took the short walk into the town of Tavira, which is bustling and quaint with a beautiful river running through with great local restaurants. Hiring a car enabled us to explore the fabulous beaches. Upon leaving, we really felt like we had experienced the real Portugal.

Dear Les and Joan

We have arrived safely home after a wonderful week in your splendid apartment. Not only did we revel in the comfortable furnishings but we thought that the whole apartment exuded quality and good taste. Thank you for allowing us to share in it.

We really appreciated your clear concise directions particularly the return info when of course there are time pressures.

Malcolm was kind enough to refill the hot top which I used every day and Joyce a couple of times as she prefers the spa bath.

Apart from heavy rain on the first night which we enjoyed watching from the balcony the weather was perfect for us, sunny and warm but not too hot.

No issues to report other than that I introduced the chrome plated corkscrew to an obstinate cork whereupon the corkscrew completely lost its head which came off in my hand! A quick visit to Continente however and a replacement found so that the apartment is once more back to its full complement of 3 corkscrews. Safety in numbers eh!

We have rented houses, villas, cottages, apartments and converted barns both abroad and in UK and we must say that yours ranks amongst the very best.
