The Algarve region
The eastern Algarve is a charming region, such is the climate it can be visited all year round. The area is steeped in history with quaint villages and bustling towns.
There are numerous beautiful beaches that stretch for miles including the local beach of IIha de Tavira which can be accessed via a five minute ferry from Tavira pier head (just over €1return).
All beaches are clean with safe bathing; many protected by off shore sandbars and complimented by a number of cafes/ bars. The lovely sandy beaches of Monte Gordo, Cabanas and Manta Rota are all within 5-20 mins. drive away.
Pegada is a modern urbanization development & lays on the north side of Tavira which is 10/15mins. walk to the centre, the coastal road is nearby giving access to all beaches through to the boarder with Spain. There is also a train service that runs along the coast with the local station at Porta Nova( Pegada) being a short walk away.
Tavira dates back many years and was a major fishing area in times gone by.The rivers, Gialo and Sequo meet at this point splitting Tavira in two, the old bridge dates back to the Romans. Tavira dates back to 2000BC and is noted as a picturesque town full of cobbled streets and architecturally very attractive.
For the keen golfers, Pegada provides easy access to courses to the west at Quinta do Lago and Vale do Lobo, to the east at Quinta do Cima, Quinta do Ria and Benamor ( Henry Cotton design) some just a few minutes drive away.

we stayed at this great apartment in august , it is by far the best apartment we have rented.
the spacious accommodation is more like a home than a rented flat .it is beautfully and
tastefully furnished with the luxury jacuzis and barbecues an added bonus
15/20 min walk to the lovely tavira town & ferry to the beach

"Quality, Style and comfort.."
We stayed in this apartment for two weeks and had a wonderful time.
The Terrace was a god send and we spent every morning from 9am until midday, when our teenager would drag us away to the beach. The hot tub was the perfect way to cool off as we kept it switched off but covered.
The beaches are simply beautiful and our favourite one is Manta Rota which is 20 mins away heading towards Spain. (no ferry required)
We could not fault the apartment and it was also quite easy to find, thanks to my partner's navigation skills!
It is possible to walk into Tavira town 15 mins, but we felt that we needed a car for the duration of our stay, as the supermarkets etc are a bit of a trek. It might not be so suitable for teens that like to mix with others by the Pool, but we would hope to return one day.

"Beautiful apartment, excellent location, hot tub and roof terrace are the icing on the cake!"
Extremely spacious apartment, beautifully furnished, the most comfortable holiday bed I have ever had! We booked this apartment last minute, Les was extremely helpful during booking. The photos on the website don't convey the feeling of space, the front balcony is lovely to sit on at any time of day. After spending time on the beach we found it nice to come back, head up to the roof terrace, read and chill out in the jacuzzi. Tavira is a very traditional portugese town, with lots of restaurants and bars to choose from and free entertainment in the town square. I would recommend car hire as it gives you the freedom to explore different beaches, which are all long golden sand and it's a 5 minute drive into town in the evening.

My Girlfriend and myself stayed at this apartment in July 2012. We were looking for somewhere that we could relax and unwind for a few days and this apartment more than fitted the bill.
The apartment itself was exceptionally clean and was equipped with everything that you would need. There is a lovely roof terrace which is a perfect place to unwind in the evening with a BBQ and glass of wine. There is also a hot tub. There are 2 large bathrooms and bedrooms with plenty of clothes storage space so this property would also be perfect for 2 couples. Although there is no swimming pool at the property there is a hotel just 5 minutes down the road which is available to non guests for a small fee. There is also a large supermarket just down the road.
Tavira is a very pretty traditional Portuguese town with cobbled back streets and a decent number of shops and restautants. There is a wonderful beach which can be accessed via a ferry.
The owners were extremely helpful prior to our arrival with tips and advice on things to do and places to go. There is also a very handy folder in the property.
We would definitely stay at this property again.

"Excellent Holiday Apartment"
We have stayed in the apartment twice in 2011, once as a couple and again with friends who enjoyed it just as much as we did. The owners were very helpful for a quick and easy booking and had lots of suggestions for visits, car hire, restaurants etc. The apartment has everything you need for a lovely holiday, fixtures and fittings are of top quality. A fully fitted kitchen if you feel the urge to cook, a choice of two BBQ's for al fresco dining. A wonderful roof terrace ( sun trap ) with a hot tub that was often used at the end of the day. The beds were very comfortable, air conditioning kept us cool, so we slept very well.
Tavira is a lovely quaint town, with beautiful beaches nearby, so you can walk for miles. Very good restaurants catering for all price ranges. The very fresh fish is yummy. Spain is just down the road and can be visited by car, train and boat, makes a great day out. The tapas for lunch is very good.
We have stayed at the apartment for a month overall and would highly recommend it for a perfect holiday.

My wife and I had an excellent stay for one week in this apartment. We found the accommodation to be immaculate and tastefully furnished. Moreover it was very peaceful particularly at night.
We appreciated the lift to the apartment and importantly for us we felt secure.
A favourite experience was to return to the apartment after a days sightseeing and relax in the rooftop jacuzzi with a glass of wine!
The owners were very friendly and helpful as was their local agent.
It is quite possible given reasonable fitness to walk into the town of Tavira and appreciate all that it has to offer.
If arriving on Sunday be advised that the major supermarkets close at noon!
We recommend this apartment without hesitation.
Unhappily advancing years make travelling abroad becoming difficult for us otherwise we would surely return.

We love this modern apartment, so have been lucky enough to take our holidays here for the last few years at different times of the year, sometimes with friends or as a couple.
The apartment is fully equipped with all that is needed to cook dinner in or enjoy a BBQ outside on either the roof terrace or balcony off of the kitchen. It's wonderful having the private roof terrace to also relax during the day with comfy sun loungers and a beautiful shaded area to cool off in the mid day heat and enjoy a spot of lunch. The hot tub is also great fun! With electric shutters around the apartment it is easy to get a good night's sleep, also the air con is an added bonus. We were impressed that there are two modern bathrooms in the apartment, with fresh towels and linen being supplied. The apartment is lucky enough to benefit from a lift so is suitable for families as well as disabled people.
Tavira itself is such a pretty town, with lots of wonderful patisseries, ice cream stalls, wine bars and delightful restaurants. With this apartment only being a short walk away from the town centre it is easy to stroll down to the harbour to enjoy a meal. During the summer months we have enjoyed local music festivals and have sat outside with friends enjoying a glass of wine listening to music watching the locals dance away. I would recommend this place for those who would like a relaxing memorable holiday!
