The Villa - Casa Al-Baraka
Casa Al-Baraka is a 3 bedroom newly built villa with a pool and has all the amenities required for a comfortable stay, it is situation up in the hills 10 minutes drive north of Tavira. The villa has stunning views across the hills and valleys of the area and is a wonderful quiet retreat for relaxation. In the temperate months of the year the surrounding hills make it ideal for walking. A restaurant is only 5 minutes walk, make our order in the morning and its all ready for you in the evening! Really good country food. A cash and carry that stocks most things and has an oven for baking fresh local bread is 5 minutes from the house. Although the villa is in the quiet location of Vale do Junco, the beautiful town of Tavira is only a 10 minutes drive away.
This spacious villa has a large open plan lounge that is bright and airy, a dining area that seats 8 people and a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, washing machine, microwave and a family size oven. There are two double bedrooms and a large twin bedroom, a bathroom and shower room on the ground floor and a large shower room on the first floor. All the bedrooms have air-conditioning and a wood stove for the cold winter nights.
There is a poolside terrace outside and a Portuguese built-in barbecue. The pool is 10 x 5 metres with ample deck chairs.
Owner's Comments
When the villa was built it was agreed that all services and care for the villa would be done by local Portuguese. The villa is cared for by my neighbour Odelia and her husband Jose, this is the original family from this area, its been a pleasure to know such welcoming friendly local people. Much of the rental income will be invested back into the property to make it more energy efficient, for example solar panels is the next project and a water tank for collecting rain water for watering plants is also planned.

Casa Al-baraka is spacious and stylish throughout. On the ground floor is a large open plan sitting area. The dining area has seating for 8 in front of full-length glass doors that open out on to the pool terrace. On the ground floor is a double bedroom and a spacious twin bedroom. Upstairs you will find a a double bedroom, bathroom and a large terrace.

There are terraces outside all of the downstairs rooms. There is also an outside dining area and a built-in barbecue. Beautiful views over the hills and the near-by hamlet.
Conditions
A 25% deposit on booking and the balance due 6 weeks prior to departure.
Travel holiday insurance is essential to cover non-refundable payment in case of cancellation.
Although stated no smoking at the villa, this is for inside the villa, responsible smokers can of course smoke outside the villa and around the pool area.

There is a local shop which is 5 minutes walk away, and a local restaurant less than 10 minutes walk up the hill. Be sure to order your meal the day before if you want a choice. Outside the hottest months of July and August, Casa Al-baraka is excellent for walking in hills and river valley. Tavira is 10 minutes away with all the attractions for a perfect holiday
The Tavira / Vale Do Junco area
Tavira
Tavira is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful towns in the Algarve. A Roman bridge links the two parts of the town. The old part of the town has numerous buildings that retain the Moors influence on architecture. There are numerous restaurants and bars in Tavira which is getting increasingly more sophisticated then when I first got there ten years ago. This does not mean it has lost its small town charm, but just that there is more on offer for visitors these days. You can still visit many small restaurants that offer good food at reasonable prices. The speciality of the region is of course grilled sardines and other fish, brought fresh to your table for selection, other dishes are Cataplana and Steak on Stone.
Beaches
Catch a ferry to the Ilha do Tavira for a day out to this beautiful island beach, ferry crossing from Tavira are regular and all the year round. There are other beaches all along the coast both west and east of Tavira some of which are Cabanas, Manta Rota and Barril.
Golf
Golf has really taken off east of Faro and there are some excellent golf courses in the east such as Quinta do Ria, Quinta do Cima, Benamor and Colina Verde.
Options for visiting Spain
Spanish border is only half an hour away and Seville an hour and fifteen minutes on the motorway, a day trip to Seville is well worth it.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The villa was really spacious and the owner very helpful and friendly in correspondence. The pool area is particularly good, with a large pool with feature trees and overlooking remote hillside. It is about 10-15 minutes drive into Tavira, with some great beaches nearby. A car is essential, but there is a friendly local rustic restaurant a short walk away. |

From the moment of arriving at this idlyic property you begin to unwind from the stresses of city living. Set in the hills it is the perfect place to let your mind and body relax. The property is spacious and has all modern facilites to allow for cooking etc. There are no noisy neighbours to contend with and relaxing by the pool is really heaven on earth Although set in the hills the drive to the town of Tavira is easy and pleasant especially the smell of orange blossoms along the way. Loved the quietness of the area and the wonderful views over the mountains. Ideally located for us as it was within 15 mins of the beach which allowed us to spend time during the day at both the beach and villa. Well equipped house and friendly owner ensured a very pleasant stay. Car hire is essential and would absolutely recommend Anna's restuarant at the top of the mountains - great view, service and food! All in all a nice location for people who enjoy their own company and appreciate the privacy the location affords. |
