Beautiful old farmhouse is situated on a sheltered hillside in 2 acres, yet only 45 minutes drive to Faro Airport, 30 minutes drive to Spanish border and 15 mins drive to Moorish town of Tavira. The home is within easy reach of the new local golf courses and is excellent for spring flowers and walks.
The house has two double bedrooms, one with 4'6" bed and one with twins. A shower room with wc, washbasin and bidet plus a separate wc with washbasin. There is a traditional log-burning fireplace in the living/dining room and bamboo ceilings. House also has a laundry room and washing machine.
All rooms overlook the patio areas and the large, kidney-shaped swimming pool, and there is ample parking in the courtyard. There are shutters on all the windows.

The Eastern Algarve area is an amazing diversity of both modern development and facilities along with discovering the true identity of Portugal, totally unchanged, which you will find only a few kilometres inland. The climate, although changing a little, boasts an enviable amount of sunshine throughout the year which enables holiday makers to fully enjoy all the wonderful scenery, clean beaches, golf courses and marvellous variety of fresh food. There are also many excellent areas for bird watching and walking. You will find many historically interesting Churches, Roman ruins and architectural buildings throughout the area to explore and along with the friendliness of the locals you can be assured of a very memorable holiday.
The Tavira / Moncarapacho/Sta Catarina area
Santa Caterina is within a 5 minute drive - here you will find a variety of local shops for your basic needs and a Sunday market once a month. A 15 minute drive will take you to the old Moorish town of Tavira on the banks of the river Gilao which inspite of some development has kept it's unique charm and identity and sense of history. There are many good shops, restaurants and an excellent daily fish and local produce market. From here you can also take a short ferry ride out to Tavira island with it's long sandy beach, sunbeds, bars and restaurants! The Spanish border on the river Guadiana is a 30 minute drive away and has plenty of interesting places to visit and if you fancy driving to Seville the 2 hour trip is well worth the effort.

My husband and I (48) spent two weeks in July 2012 at this peaceful hideaway. For anybody who seeks the peace and seclusion of a countryside abode, this is the place to be! The beautiful historic town of Tavira is ideal for an evening stroll and meal and is reached in approx. 20 min. by car. Even on the hottest day of our stay (39°C) Tavira remained relatively cool because of the breeze off the river. The house is a bungalow, (I believe a converted farm house) and its interior is quaint and clean. As the outdoor area with its fantastic pool is so inviting, the only time spent indoors was just to sleep and prepare breakfast and lunch! We thoroughly recommend this beautiful little house with its unusual swimmingpool to any likeminded people, seeking something special without modcoms in rural surroundings. The booking via Holidaylettings and the owners was efficient and very friendly, as was the support of the those who attended to matters on site. A very big thank you to all!!! |

Booking and arrangements were easy and straightforward. Directions to property could be better, especially once off the motorway. Location was quite remote (up unmade tracks for about a mile) though there is a villa next door and other properties within sight. Made for a very peaceful and relaxing time though. Property was generally well equipped and very clean, although no oven or grill, which restricted cooking a bit. No TV either in case it matters. The pool was great - much bigger and deeper than you'd normally expect. Cleaned once a week but needed netting daily to keep on top of debris from the surrounding trees - a not-unpleasant task in the morning sun! Very nice patio area with plenty of shade if needed and good sunbeds. Service from local managers was very good, with weekly change of sheets / towels - they even blew up some lilos for us! |
