Casa Ballina is a modern villa located in the peaceful rural hamlet of Eiroes just a 10 minute drive from the main town of Tavira and nearby beaches. Perched on top of a hill and surrounded only by countryside views, the ambience is peaceful and private - and with its spacious accommodation, is ideal for families or friends wishing to holiday together. To the outside is a large swimming pool with terraces, sunbeds and an outside kitchen diner along with a comfy seating area. Inside, the rooms are comfortably furnished and spread over 2 levels. Bedrooms and bathrooms are situated on the lower level, and on the upper level is a large open-plan living area with kitchen, dining and lounge. Patio doors then lead directly out to the pool and terraces. Casa Ballina is an impressive villa in a beautiful setting and is an excellent retreat for guests looking for a 'get away from it all' holiday.

The villa is comfortably furnished with a modern decor and is designed over 2 levels with main living rooms on the upper level and bedrooms on the lower level. The upper living room is open-plan with kitchen, diner and lounge and has patio doors leading directly to the pool area. The kitchen is well equipped with large hob and 2 ovens, dishwasher, large American-style fridge/freezer and utensils. The room flows through to a dining area with table and chairs and onto the lounge area with comfortable sofas and a large plasma TV screen with UK and Portuguese Channels. The lower level has 2 bedrooms with double beds and 2 bedrooms with twin beds along with 2 sofa beds for additional guests if required. There are 3 bathrooms in total, 2 of which are shower rooms and 1 a full bathroom with bath.
By request, to accommodate more guests or for a special occasion, there is the option to rent a 5th bedroom suite with king size bed, ensuite shower room, plasma TV, UK Channels and DVD. There is a supplementary charge for this suite of 200E per week. Otherwise, the villa rental will offer the 4 bedrooms and sofa beds to accommodate up to 12 guests in total.

The villa is set in its own grounds amongst beautiful countryside landscapes and has a private entrance with a large parking area. Access to the house is by stairs only leading directly to the pool and terraces which are in front of the house. The outside areas have sunbeds, comfy sofas and chairs, a dining table, outside kitchen with fridge and cooking facilities and a traditional brick BBQ. Great space for relaxing, dining or socialising by the pool. There are no other villas or houses in direct view.
Changeover days are flexible. Normal check in time is 4pm and checkout 10am. These times will only be applied if absolutely necessary and we will accommodate arrival and departure as fully as possible. Management Company available throughout stay for assistance if required.
The Algarve region
With its stunning coastline, excellent golf courses and pleasant year round climate, the Algarve's 200 kilometre stretch of southern shoreline has become one of Europe's most popular holiday destinations. Bordered on two sides by the Atlantic Ocean, the Algarve is divided from the rest of Portugal by a series of low lying mountains. In the east, the Guadiana River forms a scenic border with neighbouring Spain.
There is a clear definition between the Western Algarve and the East. Whilst the West shows more development towards tourism, the Eastern Algarve and its tidal marshlands still have a tranquil beauty, and the small resorts along the coast have retained much of their character, looking today as they must have looked long ago. Here, tourism blends in perfectly with local activities creating a relaxed way of life. There is a tinge of excitement and even romance about the ferry boat trips to the beach islands, where visitors are rewarded with superb, less crowded bathing beaches and warm waters.
The sea water temperature is around 14c in January and reaches a high 22c in August. A pleasant sea breeze refreshes the temperatures of the region, which are around 15c in January and up to 28c or more in July and August. The Algarve can also count on around 3.000 hours of Sun during the year which makes it a favourite destination for those who fancy such a sunny climate. The autumn and winter months are mild, but you will need a jacket in the evening and some kind of heating in your apartment or hotel room. January is the coolest month of the year.
Eiroes is a charming rural hamlet situated in the hills of Tavira and is reached by travelling from the EN125 main road up through the National Forest for around 5 km. Eiroes is predominantly agricultural and farming land, with a few villas and houses dotted around! There are no shops or restaurants in Eiroes - the only amenity that the village has to offer is a local bar at the top of the hill! An experience with the locals - and with very reasonable prices. There is very little else, other than the wonderful views and peacefulness, so guests should be prepared for that. The nearest town for main grocery shopping and a greater choice of amenities is Tavira. Car is essential.
The Algarve is famous for its wonderful sandy shores. There are several that we would recommend. The Island of Tavira as a natural island separated from the mainland by the River Formosa is reached by catching a ferry from a designated point in the harbor in the town. A good range of facilities is offered including bars, restaurants, sunbeds and shades all boasting a wonderful holiday atmosphere amongst white sandy beaches and the rolling Atlantic Ocean. If you do not wish to catch a ferry boat, then Manta Rota beach can be reached by car and has similar facitilies (around 12minutes drive)
THE BEAUTIFUL TOWN OF TAVIRA
When staying in this accommodation a visit to the beautiful town of Tavira is essential! You will not fail to be enthralled by its unspoilt charm, character and tranquility. As you wander along the cobbled streets, you'll see an abundance of history dating as far back as 2000BC. A Roman bridge links the 2 parts of the town across the River Gilao, its sides decorated with traditional old bars and restaurants where you can relax and enjoy a peaceful drink or meal. Horse drawn carriages and a small train operate around the town and are perfect for sightseeing and enjoying the peaceful ambience. The many churches (37 in total!), the town castle and the typical fisherman's harbour leading to the River Formosa Natural Park are all places to visit, along with the wonderful daily market selling fresh home grown produce. Tavira Island and its wonderful beach is accessible by ferry boat from the town and offers excellent facilities with a wonderful holiday atmosphere.
OTHER THINGS TO SEE AND DO
…….by travelling a little further afield there are a good range of things to do to suit all tastes. For nature lovers there are forest walks, cruises along the River Guadiana or natures trails along the Ria Formosa Reserve where bird watching is in abundance! By travelling towards the West there are some excellent shopping centres in Faro and Ghia as well as the famous Water Parks and Zoo Marine (wonderful for children), all easily reached by car (around 45 minutes) or by day trip coach. From this property it is easy to take a day trip to Spain. The lovely border town of Ayamonte is not far by car, and once there you can sample the delights of another country, including wine, tapas and excellent shopping. Or you can travel by car, local bus or train to Vila Real de Santo Antonio and from there take the 15 minute ferry crossing to Ayamonte. For the more adventurous the vibrant city of Seville is approx 170km away. For budding historians the Castle at Castro Marim is worth a look.
This is perfect accommodation for golfers wishing to sample the excellent courses situated in the Eastern Algarve. Within a 20km radius there are 7 courses to choose from. Benamor and the 2 Quintas (Ria and Cima) are the most popular and can be reached within several minutes. The prestigious new course of Monte Rei designed by Jack Nicklaus now has its first 18 holes open and is continuing in its development to the second phase offering the height of golfing luxury - although a costly experience, this is a real treat for golfing fanatics wishing to experience a little high life! Travelling only 10kms further on towards Spain, the challenging course of Castro Marim, along with its famous country club comes highly recommended and just across the border are the Costa Esuri and Quinta do Vale courses now growing in popularity. We can organise a full golfing package with 1 price per head with play at a selection of these courses, car hire and rental of this property. (Flights not included)
