Home description

Situated in the small rural hamlet of Montado, this prestigious and modern villa combines the height of luxury with a peaceful Portuguese charm. Tastefully furnished to the highest standards and with its spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean and National Forest Mountains, this accommodation cannot fail to impress. To the outside, the large pool and terrace areas offer a choice for shaded or sunny areas and sunbeds are provided. Also perfect for 'al freso' dining and BBQs. The interior is extremely luxurious and furnished to the highest standards. The Kitchen is wonderfully apppointed for self catering and leads directly to the pool terraces. The ground floor also has fabulous sitting room as well as a separate TV lounge.The bedrooms arel light and airy and the en suite bathrooms are lovingly and beautifully designed. Perfect for families and couples.

The Algarve / East Algarve region

With its stunning coastline, excellent golf courses and pleasant year round climate, the Algarve's 200 kilometre stretch of southern shoreline has become one of Europe's most popular holiday destinations. Bordered on two sides by the Atlantic Ocean, the Algarve is divided from the rest of Portugal by a series of low lying mountains. In the east, the Guadiana River forms a scenic border with neighbouring Spain.

There is a clear definition between the Western Algarve and the East. Whilst the West shows more development towards tourism, the Eastern Algarve and its tidal marshlands still have a tranquil beauty, and the small resorts along the coast have retained much of their character, looking today as they must have looked long ago. Here, tourism blends in perfectly with local activities creating a relaxed way of life. There is a tinge of excitement and even romance about the ferry boat trips to the beach islands, where visitors are rewarded with superb, less crowded bathing beaches and warm waters.
The sea water temperature is around 14c in January and reaches a high 22c in August. A pleasant sea breeze refreshes the temperatures of the region, which are around 15c in January and up to 28c or more in July and August. The Algarve can also count on around 3.000 hours of Sun during the year which makes it a favourite destination for those who fancy such a sunny climate. The autumn and winter months are mild, but you will need a jacket in the evening and some kind of heating in your apartment or hotel room. January is the coolest month of the year.


Tavira area

The small village of Montado is peaceful and typically Portuguese. Very close to the villa are 2 reasonably priced Portuguese restaurants, serving fish and meat dishes. And a little further on there are 2 bars in particular 'Bar Ronaldo', English owned, that welcomes many visitors and opens during the day until late in the peak season. For a greater choice of restaurants, shops and bars, the peaceful town of Vila Nova de Cacela is only 6km South and offers greater facilities including a supermarkets, bus stops, train station and a bank. It should be noted that there is little evidence of tourism - this is a quiet location with friendly locals and reasonable prices!

THE BEAUTIFUL TOWN OF TAVIRA 10 kms

When staying in Montado a visit to the beautiful town of Tavira is essential! You will not fail to be enthralled by its unspoilt charm, character and tranquility. As you wander along the cobbled streets, you'll see an abundance of history dating as far back as 2000BC. A Roman bridge links the 2 parts of the town across the River Gilao, its sides decorated with traditional old bars and restaurants where you can relax and enjoy a peaceful drink or meal. Horse drawn carriages and a small train operate around the town and are perfect for sightseeing and enjoying the peaceful ambience. The many churches (37 in total!), the town castle and the typical fisherman's harbour leading to the River Formosa Natural Park are all places to visit, along with the wonderful daily market selling fresh home grown produce. Tavira Island and its wonderful beach is accessible by ferry boat from the town and offers excellent facilities with a wonderful holiday atmosphere.

THINGS TO SEE AND DO

…….by travelling a little further afield there are a good range of things to do to suit all tastes. For nature lovers there are forest walks, cruises along the River Guadiana or natures trails along the Ria Formosa Reserve where bird watching is in abundance! By travelling towards the West there are some excellent shopping centres in Faro and Ghia as well as the famous Water Parks and Zoo Marine (wonderful for children), all easily reached by car (around 45 minutes) or by day trip coach. The Spanish border town of Ayamonte is a mere 10kms away where the delights of another country can be sampled along with wine, Tapas and shopping and can be reached by bus, train, ferry or car. Seville is around 150km. For budding historians, as well as Tavira, Castro Marim Castle is a must.

GOLF

This is perfect accommodation for golfers wishing to sample the excellent courses situated in the Eastern Algarve. Within a 20km radius there are 7 courses to choose from. Benamor and the 2 Quintas (Ria and Cima) are the most popular and can be reached within several minutes. The prestigious new course of Monte Rei designed by Jack Nicklaus now has its first 18 holes open and is continuing in its development to the second phase offering the height of golfing luxury - although a costly experience, this is a real treat for golfing fanatics wishing to experience a little high life! Travelling only 10kms further on towards Spain, the challenging course of Castro Marim, along with its famous country club comes highly recommended and just across the border are the Costa Esuri and Quinta do Vale courses now growing in popularity. We can organise a full golfing package with 1 price per head with play at a selection of these courses, car hire and rental of this apartment. (Flights not included)


How to get there

It is becoming increasingly easy to travel to the Algarve where the main airport is Faro. The most favoured budget airlines are Easyjet, Thomsonfly, Jet2.com, Bmi Baby and Monarch. The best website that we can recommend is www.skyscanner.net where you can select your chosen dates and preferred departure airport and you are presented with a 1 simple list of all available flights, the operator names and the prices! This saves trawling through mountains of different websites.

On entering the villa you cannot fail to be impressed with the bright and airy feel. Whilst the house is not air conditioned, a cool breeze filters in ensuring a very comfortable temperature. Fans are provided in each bedroom for additional comfort. The grand entrance and hallway leads to a very impressive lounge area with comfortable seating and furniture. The TV and DVD player are located in a separate TV lounge thus offering a choice of peaceful evenings for adults whilst kids can enjoy their own time! The kitchen is wondefully equipped for self catering and offers a large range of facilties and a large dining table. This leads directly to the pool side area which is prefect for al freso dining. On the first floor the bedrooms are all spacious and airy with terraces. 2 bedrooms have ensuuite facilities and the main house bathroom is exquisite. The basement garage also provides guests with additional recretational feature; table tennis, darts and bikes are available for use.

Further details outdoors:
To the reart of thouse house, there is a large shaded terrace which overlooks the swimming pool and offers coastal views. A large dining table and chairs are provided along with a large BBQ.

The pool has large sun terraces for the sun worhippers and its south facing position ensures sunshine all the day. 8 sunbeds are also provided.

The grounds are spacious but are surrounded by rocky parts and so terrain walkingin the surrounding area is not recommended.

RENTAL RATES

• Rates are for up to 8 persons. Travel cots are available at 20 Euros per week and 12.50 Euros for subsequent weeks .A 20% deposit is required to secure the reservation with the balance payable 8 weeks prior to arrival. A refundable house deposit will also be required. A supplementary charge of £50 for underfloor heating in the winter and £50 for pool heating will be made if these additional features are required.

• Payment is preferred in the specified currency. We may have to charge you for any bank fees incurred should the payment be made in a different currency. Refundable House Deposit of £150 or 150€ is required.

• All charges include cleaning before arrival, cleaning and change of linen once per week and cleaning after departure. All linen and towels are provided.

• Long term winter rentals considered

• Christmas and Easter rates available upon request.
