The Algarve / East Algarve region
The Algarve has one of the mildest climates in Europe & can be visited all year. At the time of writing, 10th November, the temperature was in the late 70's & sunny! But the evenings can still be chilly so bring a jumper. Flights are less than 3 hours from the UK & airport transfers only 25 minutes so the area is ideal for shorter breaks in the sun. The hottest months are July & August. The Algarve is arguably developing into the Golfing Capital of Europe with 7 new Golf Courses in the East Algarve alone. There are some of the finest Blue Flag beaches: Praia do Barril, 5 kms from Tavira which can be accessed by train Ilha de Tavira beach which can be accessed by boat from Tavira centre during the summer & at the end of the jetty during the winter.
Tavira / Pegada area
Tavira is one of the most architecturally attractive towns in the Algarve and its origin dates back to around 2.000 BC. During the occupation of the Algarve by the Moors this town was considered of great importance due to its fishing industry. Like most of the Algarve its buildings were all virtually destroyed by the earthquake of 1755. The town has since been rebuilt with 18th Century buildings along with 37 churches. A Roman bridge links the two parts of the town across the River Gilão. There are train or horse drawn tours of the town. Wander around the backstreets to find restaurants, bars & shops, or stay in the centre near to the bandstand, by the river & you have several restaurants to choose from. How to get there
Several Budget Airlines fly into Faro Airport including Easy Jet, Jet 2, Flybe, just do a google search & you will be inundated! Each budget airline has its own recommended car hire company but in the past I have used Auto Rent a Car Season, tel from UK 00351281957327, fax 00351281957328. There is also a bus & train link to Tavira from Faro, have a look at www.bugeurope.com & www.resorthoppa.com.

Further details indoors: The apartment is located on the second floor of a four storey new development in a quiet area of Tavira. On entering the apartment straight ahead is a light & airy lounge/dining room with full length windows facing north & east, the north balcony gives views of the hills beyond. There is a dining table which extends to cater for 8 & a large leather corner settee which faces the log fire & TV/DVD area. Large double doors lead into the Kitchen which is completed with beautiful granite worktops & built in Zanussi appliances including dishwasher/washer, microwave. Large patio doors lead onto a balcony which has table, chairs & BBQ. Turning left as you enter the apartment there are full length storage cupboards on the left of the hallway, the first door on the right takes you into the main bathroom which is fitted with a walk in power shower area, wc, bidet etc. Further on & to the right is the master bedroom with double bed, en-suite with jacuzzi bath & shower attachment, full length windows open onto a small west facing balcony. The remaining two bedrooms have twin beds & both have small balconies. All bedrooms have fitted wardrobes & all main rooms have airconditioning which heats as well as cools.
Further details outdoors: Private underground parking is available on request, there is ample parking immediately outside the building. Access is by lift or stairs & the apartment is fitted with a videophone from the entrance lobby. The roof terrace is for the exclusive use of the property & is accessible by lift. At the moment the roof terrace only has four sunloungers but plans are in hand to build a BBQ & provide a further table, chairs & shade of some sort.

This is strictly a no smoking, no pets apartment - sorry. Please don't use towels on the beach or the roof terrace, they just don't clean up properly, thank you. Change over days are flexible. The apartment is cleaned on each changeover. Weekly change of linen & towels is included. A weekly clean can be arranged direct with the cleaning lady, please contact me for details. A welcome pack is included: tea, coffee, sugar, bread, milk, water, kitchen cloth, washing up liquid. Tea Towels are provided. It would be an idea to bring your own dishwasher & washing maching tablets rather than buy when you are here but put them in a container, mine broke up in the suitcase!
Conditions
Payments: 50% deposit to confirm booking. Balance due one month before arrival or full payment at time of booking if reservation is made less than one month before the date of holiday. A breakage & damage deposit of £100 is payable with the balance & is returned by post after departure.
