Home description
Quinta da Colina is an ancient country estate of approximately 6 hectares restored by architect owners George & Tassie Ritchie. Being enthusiastic horse riders the land is mainly used for private stables and paddocks. A ruined traditional well and irrigation tank has been excavated and restored to create a charming rustic picnic area and swimming pool.
The Cottage, adjacent to the farmhouse, has been modernised retaining all the original metre thick stone walls, wooden windows and traditional shutters. Accommodation includes a lounge with kitchenette, a dining area, large ground floor bedroom and en-suite bathroom.
A 1st floor galleried “loft style” bedroom with en-suite bathroom has been created within the original volume.
Outside, a large covered terrace with BBQ and alfresco dining area has been created from the original grain barn.

The Algarve / East Algarve region
Tourism region in the south of Portugal famous for its year round sunshine and beautiful clean beaches, world-wide reknowned golf courses and spectacular countryside.
Tavira / Conceicao area
Tavira is a charming fishing town straddling the lazy Gilão River just before it opens gently to the sea. It has a lovely palm-lined riverside promenade, cobbled streets and quaint buildings. It is an historic town of some significance with Moorish castle walls, ancient churches and a Roman bridge. Tavira is also at the centre-stage of the area's surrounding development whilst adroitly maintaining its traditional appeal.
For those who enjoy the simplicity of nature and tradition, the East Algarve offers an untouched environment of gently undulating countryside interspersed with small whitewashed towns and rustic hamlets. It is perfect for walking, cycling, horse riding or an exciting jeep tour. The golf courses at Benamor, Quinta da Ria/Cima, Colina Verde, Castro Marim and the two new Monte Rei courses have attracted many golfers to the area.
From Tavira to the west, and extending for 60 kilometres, the beautiful Ria Formosa Natural Park is a protected labyrinth of tidal lagoon waters nestled behind a barrier of narrow sandbar islands which run parallel to the coast. The seaward sides of these islands offer long stretches of stunning sandy beaches for intrepid visitors who make their way across via shuttle-ferries and little private boats; whilst the landward sides with shallow emerald waters, provide a paradise haven for teeming birdlife and many opportunities for birdwatchers; as well as a natural pleasure-park for enthusiasts of gentle boating.
