About the home

If you want to get away from the 'hectic life', away from the tourist trail. This is the place for you! Complete relaxation at a slower pace of life, in a complete rural retreat. The views surrounding the villa are absolutly stunning, with distant sea views from the balcony. Quiet and peaceful, but yet only a short drive from the main town of Tavira. (Basically a straight road - so you can't get lost). short drives to golf courses, beach, etc. Local village bar/restaurant is a 5 minute drive.

This is a brand new villa with luxury jacuzzi / hot tub on sun terrace. The rooms have high quality furnishings. We operate a no Smoking policy within the villa. However, smoking is permitted outside. Spacious open plan living area/kitchen. Satellite Sky with a large 52" rear television, DVD player. Ipod docking station. Looking above is beautiful, charming, pine wood ceiling, comfy seating, table & chairs, etc. There are two sets of large balcony doors, which lead onto the balcony - where you can look out onto the fantastic panoramic and distant sea views.
The kitchen is fully intergrated, with an oven, hob, fan extractor, Dishwasher, fridge, freezer, microwave, etc.
Large bathroom, with double sink, jacuzzi/spa bath, separate shower, w.c, and bidet.
2 bedrooms.
Bedroom 1 has kingsize bed,
Bedroom 2 has 2 x twin beds

Getting back to the balcony.... you can walk along the balcony area and there are steps to the side of the house to access the roof terrace. On the roof terrace is a built in barbecue - (see photo). . Also a brand new large 6 seater jacuzzi / hot tub with 64 jets and waterfalls. Cool water as well as hot! So cooling for the Summer months and warming in the Winter! Plenty of fun.

Once again... great views of the countryside.

Also, has underfloor heating which is independantly thermostatically controlled in each room.

As this house is situated up in the hills, there is a fantastic cooling breeze which starts from early evening through till dawn. The house has insect screens on all windows and balcony doors, so you can leave your windows open and take advantage of the natural breeze.

Plenty of walks....Off the beaten track, in the back woods of the Algarve, explore the wooded valleys, cross streams, go through Olive and citrus groves, go past eucalyptus and cork oak trees, and onto spectacular viewing points.
There are literally hundreds of miles of winding dirt trails taking you through tiny white-washed villages, where time seems to of stood still. See some of the customs still in practice.
Breathe in the pure air, rich with the scent of local herbs & plants.

This area is undoubtedly one of the Algarve’s best kept secrets.

Then after an enjoyable walk, return back to ‘Casa Do Lobo’ to relax and enjoy a beer or local glass of wine. Relax in the Hot Tub under the stars.

Fantastic walks surrounding the property. It is a haven for bird watchers & nature lovers. Safe for children as it is very rare that you will see a car. Great place for cycling too. There are plenty of off road tracks for mountain bike enthusiasts, gravel roads and tarmac roads.
Secure off road parking.
Outdoor Private Hot Tub - Loads of fun !!! - ideal for cooling down or warm relaxation on an evening.

The Algarve / East Algarve region

The Algarve is a very beautiful place, with fantastic friendly people. Plenty to see & do.

Spain is about a 40 minute drive. Drive a little further and venture into Seville.

You can also drive or catch a train (very cheap) to Lisbon.

Many museums in and around Faro. (45 minute drive) - or catch a train or bus.

All beaches are wide, sandy and safe for children. All beaches have the EC Blue Flag for cleanliness.

Portugal is warm most of the year, the area is very green, during the months between October to April/May.

The Tavira area

Without being isolated, the villa is situated in an absolutly tranquil location on the outskirts of a very small settlement known as Cotovio, in the parish of Santa Maria, Tavira , which is 12km north of the main town of Tavira centre. From here you have panoramic views over the hills and sea. Fantastic walks, as far as the eye can see. Cotevio (which is named after a small bird) really is in a beautiful rural coutryside picturesque setting.

If you are looking for a retreat away from all the hustle and bustle and want to relax in a place where nature is still intact, then this is the place for you. Only 4km from the small village of Estorninhos, where there is a great friendly local little bar/restaurant.

Tavira (12 km away) is a delightful, historic little town in the far east of the Algarve which is touched rather than egulfed with tourism. It is considered to be one of the Algarve's most beautifulist towns. Narrow, cobbled streets, riverside gardens, old castles, ancient Roman bridge, just make this a town to remember. Eat 'al fresco' in it's many little restaurants, and enjoy open air entertainment on Summer evenings' in the square.

Castro Marim (30 min drive)

Esturi - just over the border in Spain (45 min drive)

Monte Rei Golf & country club (25 mins drive) - and is being heralded as "undoubtedly the most exclusive & cosmopolitan development in the Algarve". Monte Rei is set in more than 1000 acres of beautiful countryside between Vila Real de St Antonio and Tavira.

“Off the beaten track” We spent a relaxing nine nights at the Casa do Lobo villa in Cotovio. The villa is nicely appointed and has pretty much everything we needed, including a nice welcome pack with a bottle of red wine (:-)). There are great views down to the coast below, especially from the roof terrace. It's about 12km down the hill back to Tavira (takes about 15-20 mins) ; mostly this road is pretty good but it does eventually run out of tarmaced surface and the side road leading to the village is quite rough. Once we got the hang of it though, this was fine. And despite being a little village literally off the beaten track in the hills, it has street lighting. We mostly barbecued for ourselves in the evening, enjoying the beautiful sunsets and the big night sky. There's a big shopping centre on the outskirts of town but we also went to the market in Tavira for fish and veg. Had 3 pretty good meals out but our favourite was Aquasul. Also had drinks and lovely lunch at Chez Carole et Manuel which was quite charming. All in all it was a nice peaceful spot in a lovely part of the Algarve.

“Very peaceful & relaxing” Casa do lobo is a very comfortable and beautiful villa with an outstanding view of the surrounding countryside and the sea and was the ideal place to spend our honeymoon. It is perfect if you want a very quiet and relaxing holiday and don't mind a 15-20 drive to the nearest main town! The villa is like a home from home and is very well equipped with everything you would need for a self catering break. There was even a good selection of DVDs to watch on the huge 52" TV! Everyone is very friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. Thank you Chris & Lorraine for a fabulous holiday.

“peaceful and relaxing” Thankyou so much for our weeks stay at your villa. It was very clean and had everything we needed....We visited a different beach ever day with the children and loved the fact that we retired home every night up to the mountains back to our villa and enjoyed the comforts as if it was our own home.

“A lovely spot if you love the peace and quiet.” Me and my partner stayed here for 10 days with our son who is 6 yrs old, although it is set away from the town, it was a pleasure to be there just for the peace and tranquility, especially in the evenings. I, myself am not into these beachside hotels and villas crammed in amongst lively night clubs and bars, with revellers pouring out at all hours in the mornings, we wanted to enjoy a relaxing holiday and just get away from it all literally, and 'Casa Da Lobo' was just what we needed. Set up in the hills, it was a good 15-20 mins drive into Tavira. The villa has everything you would need, it was just like being home from home, with the exception of a fantastic hot tub out on top of the roof terrace, bliss, especially with the hot sun beating down, and spectacular views across the valleys. Its not an ideal place if you have a family of active teenagers or younger children as there isnt much to keep them entertained, but, everything you need from restaurants, to supermarkets, shopping malls to the beach is just a short car journey away. Our little boy is easily pleased and loved the journeys out in the car most days. We will definitely come back again.

“Perfect for a peaceful, relaxing getaway” If you are looking for somewhere to relax in peaceful surroundings then I can't recommend Casa Do Lobo enough, the location was perfect with stunning, unspoilt views all the way to the sea. Tavira was only a short drive away and is a lovely town with great bars and restaurants. The facilities in the villa were excellent and it was finished to a very high standard, compared to other villas we have stopped in we would expect to pay consideranly more. The owners were friendly and helpful throughout our booking and couldn't have done any more for us. We are already planning a return trip.

“comfort peace and quiet.” A beautiful villa with every thing you need for a relaxing holiday.Not to far from the coast and the beautiful town of Tavira,we have stayed in the area before and found this villa to be the best we have stayed in.
