*"The Summer House" Traditional Country home, with private Secluded Pool and garden* THE SUMMER HOUSE is sunny and light, with beautiful timber-beamed rooms, and a private secluded Pool, set in spacious secluded sub-tropical gardens. The Summer House - so called, because it’s where the owners used to spend their summers, before moving back to the ‘big house’ - forms the West wing of their large, traditional Portuguese country home. The superb Summer House is a completely self-contained part of the main house, with its own driveway, parking area, and gate, leading to its own garden, pool and entrance door.
There is a cafe and restaurant within easy walk, and a sleepy traditional village 3 mins drive away offers a restaurant, post office, pharmacy, mini-markets, tavernas and cafes. It’s only 6 mins drive from beautiful medieval Tavira with its riverside restaurants, and several uncrowded golden sandy beaches. The Summer House has a wonderful tranquil countryside setting where you can completely relax.

The Algarve / East Algarve region
The Eastern Algarve is a beautiful unspoilt area, with miles of uncrowded golden beaches, ancient Moorish towns and picturesque villages.
BEACHES in the eastern Algarve are wide, sandy and safe for children, with the EC Blue Flag for cleanliness. The nearest beach is about 12 minutes drive from The Summer House. Refreshments and meals, sun-beds and parasols, are available on all local beaches. Particularly beautiful is Tavira Island which can be reached by a short ferry ride. Most local beaches are within the Ria Formosa Nature Reserve, famed for its flamingoes, rare birds and plants.
The Spanish border is only thirty minutes drive from The Summer House, and historic Seville is 1.5 hours drive and, with its ancient palaces, cathedrals and riverside parks and cafes, is well worth a visit.
Distances from The Summer House: Nearby village of Santo Estevao is 3 mins drive. Medieval Tavira is 6 mins drive. Spain is only 30 mins away, and Seville is 1.5 hours drive.

TAVIRA TOWN Tavira is a picturesque town, with narrow cobbled streets, beautiful riverside gardens, many restaurants, old palaces, castle ruins and ancient Roman bridge spanning a wide river. There is a large daily vegetable and fish market, a wide variety of small shops, and a good selection of river-side restaurants where you may eat "al fresco".
During the summer evenings Tavira hosts many cultural activities - from the visiting national ballet, and classical concerts in one of Tavira’s ornate ancient churches, to local folk dancing under the stars in the central gardens by the river. Local activities include: Boat trips, horse-riding, tennis, windsurfing, waterslide parks. GOLF - Three 18-hole Championship level Golf courses are located just 10 minutes drive from The Summer House. Only 30 minutes from Faro airport. Flights to Faro Airport with eg. Aer Lingus (London Gatwick-Faro); EasyJet; British Airways; Monarch; Air 2000; Thompson-fly, etc. Also good flight prices with eg. Ryan Air from London Stansted to Seville airport. (Drive takes under 1.5 hrs, Seville to Casa Estella). Also flights available to Cadiz, and Jerez, Spain. Car hire is recommended to get the best out of the Eastern Algarve.

Further details indoors: 2 charming timber-beamed bedrooms, sleeping 4 people. The first floor master bedroom is a romantic timber galleried room with a generous king-size bed. The twin bedded double room, has patio doors onto the terrace. The 2 shower rooms are decorated with traditional hand-painted Portuguese tiles. The well-equipped kitchen has fridge/freezer, hob and microwave. The delightful timber-beamed living room is comfortably furnished. Patio doors open open onto a covered terrace surrounded by sub-tropical plants. You can dine ‘al fresco’ overlooking the garden and pool.
Further details outdoors: The Summer House stands on hillside with magnificent views of vineyards, orange groves, and ancient olive trees.
POOL & GARDEN Patio doors open onto a terrace which runs the length of the house, with four steps leading up to the secluded plant-fringed pool and sunbathing deck. The pool is approximately 3 metres in diameter and 90cms deep. It can be floodlit at night, and has a poolside shower. Barbecue, patio furniture and sun loungers are provided.
The house is surrounded by beautiful sub-tropical gardens with many exotic plants and trees: pepper trees, mimosa, carob and palms. The Summer House is the perfect place to relax and restore your spirits.

Owner managed, with good attention to detail. Maid service, linen, towels (except for beach/pool) are provided. Cot & highchair available. On day of arrival you may enter villa after 3pm, please vacate the villa by 10am on day of departure. Information file with ideas on local places to go, and things to do.
