The Villa is located in a secluded position within 2.5 acres of land close to the beautiful and historic fishing port of Tavira. The property has superb panoramic views of coast to the south and the rolling hills of the National Park (excellent for walks and treks) to the west and north.
The Villa benefits from its own private pool and large terraces making it ideal for families, relaxing and alfresco dining.
The location benefits from wide sandy beaches ranging from local and secluded to popular well equipped beaches with watersports, all within a short drive of the Villa. Nearby, are the excellent golf courses of Quinta da Ria and Quinta da Cima. The magnificent (but expensive!) Jack Nicklaus designed Monte Rei is about 15 minutes drive as is the excellent course at Castro Marim. In addition the courses of the Western Algarve and Spain are easily accessible.

The Algarve / East Algarve region
The Eastern Algarve has a wealth of glorious, wide, sandy beaches providing activities for all interests: water sports, small traditional cafes, chic bars/restaurants with stunning views, fishing and boat trips.
Golfers will find many magnificent courses which rival the Western Algarve.
Shopping is easy and varied with numerous markets selling local produce and also supermarkets for basic needs.
The Tavira area
Tavira is renowned for its exceptionally beautiful churches, Moorish castle ruins and architectual features.
It is also an area of outstanding natural beauty with conservation areas and a national park.
Many excellent restaurants serve local produce and traditional Portuguese dishes.

The villa is situated in the Eastern Algarve, half way between the airport at Faro and the Spanish border.
There are excellent communications via the IP1 Motorway from Faro, a drive of approximately 35 minutes.
It is essential to have a car.

We stayed at the Villa in October - it was an altogether relaxing and calming experience. Leisurely breakfast, then by the pool to read and relax, talk; lunch was usually at the villa - then off to the beach - wide, sandy beaches, equipped with Loungers and straw umbrellas - and the evening was for dining out at the multitude of excellent restaurants in the area - Cabanas, Tavira - we even went over to spain (about 30 minutes drive) - a holiday for people who do not want to be rushed.

I keep going back to Casa das Papoilas because love a a simple, peaceful and private holiday with my friends and family. I really enjoyed the simplicity of the place and the surroundings, with a BBQ on the terrace, watching the sun set over the mountains, and rise across the sea.
It is so private too, with no chance of any other noisey neighbours spoiling the afternoon sleep! With local shops and ammenities only a 5 minute drive away, you have all you need for a relaxing break. And with five great golf courses, all within 20 minutes drive, we were spoilt for choice.
For a real treat, visit Pago de Inferno, a waterfall and plunge pool set in the hills nearby. Wonderful experience.
