A typical 1950´s traditional Portuguese house with wide marbled private stairwell to this second floor apartment. This apartment was fully refurbished in 2013 includng all new furniture. From the apartment entrance there is a small hall with door leading to the private south and westerly facing terrace with glass top cube table, loungers, BBQ and rain shower. The terrace is partially covered to provide adequate and safe shade. The Ria Formosa is easily seen. The hall is open plan onto the lounge diner with well equipped kitchen including separate drinking water tap and shower room off this area. There is a log effect fire and TV There is a large double bedroom with plenty of wardrobes and dressing table. The apartment benefits from air conditioning in the bedroom and lounge diner. These reverse for winter to provide good heating. PLEASE NOTE CHARGES APPLY. There are also a large floor and table fans.

For many years having been the RENTER I have endeavoured to ensure the shortcomings I experienced do not occur to ensure that this is your best holiday. There was nothing worse than cutlery, crockery and glasses not matching or uncomfortable furniture.

The room is serviced weekly, fresh bathroom towels as required, and the bed linen changed weekly or sooner if needed. Beach towels and a welcome pack of groceries are also supplied as standard.

I am obviously on hand most mornings and early evenings to provide any local knowledge or help you may require.

The Algarve region

Santa Luzia is a traditional and typical Portuguese village lying on the Ria Formosa, with its Parque Natural, yet only minutes from the Medieval Town of Tavira. The front has been lined with palm Trees, benches and shades to enable us to enjoy the river activity of the boats and wildlife alike. It is known as the Capital of The Octopus (Polvo) and the auction of the catches may be seen almost daily. Across the Ria Formosa are the lovely beaches of Terra Estreita, accessed by ferry boat (3 minutes from the apartment) and Barill a short walk away. The village of Barill can be seen, although now only a tourist attraction, it was a major Tuna Station until 1954. The little shops and cafes have been converted from the fisher man´s houses with many fantastic photos of them catching the Tuna. Sadly the Tuna breeding ground moved and the station had to be shut. The fishermen left their fishing anchors embedded in the beach and 60 years later one can feel the frustration of those men who risked their lives to catch these fish.

There are numerous cafes, bars and restaurants on the front and throughout the village offering a wide variety of choice to meet all budgets and taste. Unsurprisingly it is rare not to see Polvo in on the menu.

Santa Luzia will enable you to really live “The Portuguese Way” and watch their way of life where “A manya” (tomorrow) is evident.

Tavira

Situated within the village all the various shops, cafes, restaurants etc are within easy walking distance as is the ferry. There is a Post Office, 2 ATM´s, a very well stocked supermarket as wellas many "mercados", pharmacy and church with daily and Sunday services.

A car is not essential as there is a bus service and a taxi to Tavira is only €6,00. The railway station here has services to both the east and west Algarve with direct trains from Faro to Lisbon. A first class return is only €55. There is also a daily coach service to Seville from Tavira circa €50 return.

Tavira is steep in history as it dates back to Roman times and has a very large selection of shops and restaurants covering may nationalities.

Cycle hire is easy with a shop in Santa Luzia and there are good cycle tracks to Tavira across the salt flats and onto Cabanas to the east and Fuzeta to the west.

"A most relaxing and enjoyable stay in Casa Diamante"

The apartment is excellent value for money. It is clean, comfortable and extremely well furnished / equipped with everything you need. Kevin gives a very warm welcome and provides reliable information regarding local restaurants/shops etc. The welcome pack provided is more than generous and much appreciated. It was brilliant to have drinking water 'on tap' - especially when you see most others struggling to carry large amounts of water from the shops. Be aware that the supermarkets close on Sundays & 1 on Monday also.
Location of this property is ideal to access beaches using the train or ferry ( only £2 return) and Travira is only a 40 minute easy flat walk away.
We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday. Thanks once again Kevin for you warm welcome!

"Relaxing time in Santa Luzia"

The accommodation is on the second floor of a typical Portugese house. It is very central to the bars and restaurants in the village, which vary from snack bars to very good restaurants. The apartment is very clean and comfortable with a large balcony which gets the sun all through the day.
The owner is very helpful and informative about the local area.
It is ideal for the solo traveller and very safe in the evenings.

"A real gem in this lovely traditional village resort"

Perfect accommodation and ideal location to explore this delightful typical Portuguese village. The apartment is well equipped with plenty of home comforts and good space to enjoy outside living. Very clean, comfortable and newly renovated. The owner is extremely helpful and on hand to recommend and advise on all the usual and necessary holiday requirements. Some lovely local restaurants and bars nearby. Highly recommended, so much better than a cramped hotel room.

"Wonderful quiet location in Santa Luzia"

Have just returned from a wonderful holiday in this superb apartment in Portugal. The accommodation was to an excellent high standard, in an idyllic location. The apartment contained absolutely everything we needed. The proprietor was extremly welcoming and was always available to assist if needed. He was happy to offer advice on where to visit, and on the best restaurants in the area. This is the first time we have stayed in an apartment, as opposed to a hotel, and would recommend this to anybody. The accommodation was spacious, and offers much more than a small hotel room! We will certainly be returning and are planning our return visit already. Thanks for a geat holiday Kevin.

"A great find in the "alternative" Algarve"

A week at Casa Diamonte in April was excellent value in a recently renovated property located close to the centre of a typically Portuguese village. The one bedroom flat was very well furnished with modern fittings with access to a large sunny terrace which I found ideal for barbecues as well as sunbathing.

The village itself is charming with excellent restaurants and bars at prices well below those charged along the coast and yet had the quality and hospitality which comes from family owned and run concerns. I found the total package was well suited to singles as well as couples and I was pleased to see that singles rates are available.

All in all I enjoyed it!
