Landhaus Tauplitz has a warm welcoming feel and is situated in the heart of the picturesque Alpine ski village of Tauplitz, within a 3 minute walk from the main lift station - ideal for Skiing in Winter or Hiking, Cycling and Golf in Summer.


Our Landhaus's exceptional location overlooking the Grimming Mountain has panoramic views from the rooms and leisure areas and the Chalet is a good blend between old historic charm and modern comforts. We offer a catered Chalet experience in Winter and Summer on a half board basis for 12 persons and 4 children under 10 years.

Our owner run philosophy emphasises personal service, attention to detail, and high quality country cuisine and we believe that a holiday should be an opportunity to indulge your palate.
We offer a taste of Austrian cuisine mixed with an International flair and take care in the choice of wines we serve and select from Austrian and South African vineyards. A passion for food, fresh ingredients and good presentation are a part of our motto!

We offer a good wholesome Breakfast in Austrian tradition with freshly ground coffee and rolls and bread baked on our premises to set you off on your day’s activities.

Our evening Winter Set Menu consists of three beautifully prepared courses with fresh ingredients accompanied by the matched Red and White wines. In Summer we serve an appropriately lighter two course Dinner also with suitably selected wines.

We do not serve dinner on a Sunday evening but we can assist with booking you into one of our local Austrian restaurants to experience Austrian specialities of the Steiermark area.

The Styria/Steiermark region

Steiermark is centrally situated in Austria ,and Tauplitz (900m) village was one of the first traditional ski resorts in Austria.
The village is dominated by the Grimming Mountain to the south, the Gwendlingstein to the east and the Tauplitzalm to the north, all of which provide their own stunning scenery which surrounds the area...

A superb ski resort and a “hidden gem”, unspoilt, and a favourite ski destination for Austrians.

Tauplitz offers wonderful views, with interesting, varied and enjoyable skiing. It is also well-known in Austria as being very snow sure, sitting in its own 'snow-pocket' The 19 lifts open up 40Km of expertly groomed pistes to suit skiers and riders of all abilities, whilst the extensive off-piste potential is there to be explored by those wanting further challenges.

The Tauplitz Ski Pass includes four regions for skiers and a short drive away is the renowned Schladming-Dachstein skiing area.

An excellent "Langlauf" (Cross Country) area within walking distance from Landhaus Tauplitz is on our doorstep.

As Golf Partners of the Weissenbach, Pryhn Priel and Schladming-Dachstein courses we offer special Green Fee rates to our guests and are in the midst of the most stunning ‘hiking and biking” routes.

Culturally a rich area with many local Winter and Summer traditional celebrations which are performed for and by the local inhabitants of the villages as opposed to being a tourist attraction. Music and Flower Festivals are a feature of the Summer season and each day our guests receive an activity calender listing the various attractions. An authentic unspoilt Austrian village!

How to get there

By air……………………

There are three airports that service Tauplitz………

Salzburg - There are regular flights from the UK with Ryanair,Sky Europe and Thomsonfly. - 130 km from Tauplitz and a 1 hour 35 minute drive from the airport.

Linz- There are flights to Linz on Ryanair from the UK. - 138 km from Tauplitz and a 1 hour 40 minute drive from the airport.

There are also flights to Vienna (2.5 hours), Graz (1hour 50) and Munich (3.5 hours).

We can arrange a return airport transfer service from the airport terminal’s to Tauplitz. Alternatively, if you wish for a bit more flexibility allowing you to fully explore the surrounding areas during your stay in Tauplitz, we can recommend a car hire company.

By Car……Directions in Tauplitz……………………….

To reach us from the main road (E145), take the exit signposted Tauplitz and follow the road up the hill....
Summer route: After a short distance you will see a road on your left, take this turning and follow the road up the hill until you see the Sporthotel Hechl on your right, immediately on your left there is a narrow and tight turning.You will find Landhaus Tauplitz, 100m along this road on your right. The car park is directly opposite.
Winter route: Continue up the hill (passing ADEG supermarket & Tourist Information) until you reach Cafe Wahnsinn. Take the next left turn (with the Sportalm Nightclub on the corner), and follow the road up the hill until you reach the village centre, following the road round to the left. You will pass the Tauplitzerhof hotel on your left and shortly after this you will see a narrow and tight turning to the right.You will find Landhaus Tauplitz, 100m along this road on your right. The car park is directly opposite.

Landhaus Tauplitz is ideal for family groups and friends and on a chalet basis offers exclusive use of the guesthouse facilities. All rooms have en-suite bathrooms and are decorated with a modern flair. Family rooms with interconnected children’s rooms are available.

Our summer Terrace overlooks the spectacular Grimming Mountain where we serve Coffee's, Teas, Latte's and the very special Zotter’s handcrafted chocolate drinks or alternatively a refreshingly cooled good wine or Murau beer.

A small library of English and German books are available for guests as are board games and toys for the younger family members.

Our modern Housebar is a meeting place for guests for a pre-dinner drink and we have a wall mounted flat screen television, DVD and stereo in the bar.

Our Sauna and Relax room is available for guests between 16h00 and 19h00 relax in and soothe tired muscles from the days activities. We can offer Massage Therapy by appointment.

A 10% non-refundable deposit is required on booking and full payment is due one month prior to arrival.
No booking is confirmed until a deposit is received.
Payment is required in Euro.

We are a non-smoking establishment but guests are welcome to smoke on the terrace.

We have a licenced House Bar and therefore would charge corkage on any drinks brought into the Chalet.
