Cuckoo Lodge, Somerset
Lodge | 4 bedrooms | sleeps 8
Nestled quietly in tranquil countryside beside an established private coarse fishing lake in the hamlet of Mill Cross and at the foot of the stunning Quantock Hills (an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), Cuckoo Lodge is an exclusive luxury timber holiday home.
An ideal base with lots to explore in the area
The property offers the perfect blend of peace and quiet with easy access to many amenities and attractions. Walk out the front door and the sound of birdsong and nothing else is striking - a true countryside idyll. Yet the market town of Taunton is no more than 2 miles away, offering a wide range of retail and dining options, along with a theatre and multi-screen theatre.
The Quantock Hills are also on the doorstep; the first designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in England and are ideal for more energetic visitors including walkers and cyclists. Also in the area are the West Somerset Railway, Hestercombe Gardens and Fyne Court. Despite its central location in Somerset, the coastline is only 15 miles away, while Exeter, Glastonbury and Yeovil are all easily driveable.
Cuckoo Lodge is perfectly placed with easy access by rail or road. It is within 10 minutes of Taunton's mainline rail station (London Paddington 1 hour 40 mins), and major road links (M5 Junction 24 & 25).

The West Country region
Whether your idea of the perfect holiday is a stay in rambling countryside, a bustling coastal resort or a picture postcard cottage in a quaint town, you will find it in Somerset. Blue Chip's Somerset holiday cottages enable guests to choose between coast, land and country - or one of many Somerset holidays that blankets all three. The village of Cheddar gave the world Cheddar cheese, and still produces it today. West Somerset is home to the longest preserved steam railway in England. The word Somerset translates to 'land of the summer people'.
Taunton is Somerset's County town, rich in history and home to both Somerset County Cricket Club and Taunton Race course. As well as a fabulous range of shops and places to eat and drink, the town is rich in culture and a centre for the arts.
The town is also a great location from which to explore the region, its history and legends. This is the land of King Alfred, King Arthur, and Lorna Doone's Exmoor. There are the majestic gardens of Hestercombe and Stourhead to explore, and there are a range of superb National Trust properties and treasures to visit in the local area.
