Kaplica Beach, just 15 minutes drive east from property, is a lovely sandy bay overlooked by the ruins of Kantara Castle. Alagadi beach (where the turtles hatch every year) is approximately 20 mins away by car. Acapulco Hotel (with a lovely sandy beach and Aqua Park for children) is approx 15 mins from SeaTerra Reserve heading towards Kyrenia.
Taxi airport transfers can be arranged where the driver is waiting for you with your name on a board. Approx £35 each way from Ercan airport & £55 each way from Larnaca airport. The nearest village is Tatlisu, 5 minutes away by car. The larger village of Esentepe is a 10 minute drive. Kyrenia/Girne with it's beautiful harbour, boat trips, castle and shipwreck museum, the abbey at Bellapais, St Hilarion castle and the capital Lefkosa (Nicosia) are all under 30 minutes drive. There are unspoilt Cypriot villages to discover scattered around and further afield the Karpas conservation area with it's fantastic beaches and wildlife for a 1/2 day or day trip.
There are many restaurants, casinos, supermarkets and banks on the way to and in Kyrenia. Closest big supermarket is only 10 mins drive. There are many historic places to visit including stunning Kyrenia Castle (a must see!), St Hilarion and Buffavento castles, and Bellapais Abbey. The beauty of North Cyprus is the relaxed way of life that locals live to. No one is ever in a rush, and as such the service you receive in restaurants is second to none. Trust me, you will not be disappointed!
Karpaz Pennisula: Ideally located to explore Famagusta & Karpaz. Many beautiful beaches of golden sand can be found on the north and south coasts. Some are easy to find as they have a hotel nearby but others have to be searched for. It is worth at least a day of your holiday, to discover for yourself one of those areas that still have the essence of ancient Cyprus.

The Kyrenia District
North Cyprus has been seen as a "forgotten frontier" over the years, but as its doors slowly creak open they reveal a tantalisingly different destination for the modern-day tourist.
First, a short lesson in history. In 2,500BC, the island already had a thriving market in the copper discovered there. It is that old.
Some 4,500 years on, the copper may have run out, but in its place an equally rich vein of revenue has taken over. The holiday trade.
The island "panhandle" beaches have pure white sand stretching for miles, but, astonishingly, without a single bather. You are much more likely to see a wild donkey among the dunes than a tourist. The solitude is almost tangible and a trip to the very tip of the Karpaz one of life's "unforgettable journeys".
Along the way, try to stop off at Hasan's Turtle Beach, run by the characterful Hasan Korkmaz. His little outpost has a restaurant where you can have, say, fresh sea bream cooked on the barbie, washed down by a few bottles of the ice-cold Turkish beer, Efes. Stay the night, too, if you wish in one of his little beach huts, which Hasan rents out at give-away prices.
Main resort in North Cyprus is Kyrenia (known as Girne to the Turks). It is no more than a village, however, with a population of less than 8,000, but has much to offer travellers.
The harbour area, watched over by the imposing Crusader castle (circa 12th century) has the Venetians to thank for its beauty, perhaps unsurpassed on the island.
It is wall-to-wall restaurants and bars - a stunning sight by day, but an area that really comes into its own at night, when hungry tourists invade, eager to taste the speciality kleftiko lamb (slow roasted in the oven), or fresh-caught fish such as lagos or minerio.
"Must" trips in and around Kyrenia start at the aforementioned and unmissable Karpaz, Bellapais Abbey, St Hilarion Castle (said to be the model for Walt Disney's Snow White castle), Vouni Palace (the only Persian palace in the whole of the Mediterranean), Nicosia and Famagusta.
The nearest nice beach is located in Tatlisu Belediyesi Zambak Tatilkoyu, or for those of you who do not speak Turkish Tatlisu Municipality Holiday Village.
There is a wonderful restuarant within the village where we ate. The food is typical Turkish Cypriot and delicious. The fish is so fresh, as you take a mouthful, it could almost bite you back. The restaurant has the capacity to cater for 200 people indoors and 600 people outdoors. It is situated right on the seafront and again the views have that 'wow' factor.
Tatlisu has so much going for it now. The roads have been upgraded and are so improved it now only seems a short distance from anywhere else on the island. It would make a perfect centre for a holiday where, with a car, you can explore the rest of what beautiful North Cyprus has to offer.
Tatlisu is certainly making itself very attractive not only as a stopover on the way to somewhere else but also as a destination in itself, perfect for those of us who just want to unwind and take a couple of weeks to 'chill out'.
