Home description

Casa Costell is an extensive estate placed in Baix Camp Region, in Riudoms municipal term, Tarragona province.

An automatic system will open us the door of the property. For a way between fruit trees and vegetables plantations we will arrive to an oasis of palm trees which will indicate us the proximity of the buildings. On the left "El Xalet" (the Chalet) (where the owners live) and some meters far away, "Casa Costell".

It consists of two floors that they distribute in the following way:

1. Ground floor, Cal Masover: It is accessed for some stairs and we find four double rooms (3 double beds and 1 of two individual beds), the dining room with fire place, two complete baths and the kitchen.

2. First floor, La Casa Gran: rising for the outside staircase we enter into the house, where there are the hall and the big kitchen-dining room with fire place. From the same dining room people can access in the terrace, which has some magnificent views on the property. Also from the dining room we arrive to the two double rooms that share a full equipped bath. Following the corridor there are 4 bedrooms double (2 double beds and 2 of two individual beds) with bath incorporated into each room. One of these rooms has bath and the other ones have showers.

The ideal weather of the zone allows, almost all year round, to enjoy the outer spaces: "El Rafal" (the Shed) is the barbecue zone (with washing machine and dishwasher); "El Resguard"(the Stub), a pinewood that surrounds the swimming pool and the Jacuzzi; "El Jardí” (The Garden) has a hut where there are the locker rooms of the swimming pool and the baths with shower. Beside this zone there is an ideal space of pines, "El Resguard" is ideal to read or to play the chess on a stone table that has engraved the chessboard. There is the lawn all over to be able to enjoy of the free air as if we were at home.

• It is equipped with sheets and towels, central heating, microwave, oven, dishwasher and T.V.
• Opened during all the year.
• Animals are welcome.

The Costa Dorada/Tarragona region

With its 130.000 inhabitants is Tarragona the smallest of Catalonia's four province capitols, but with its situation on the beautiful Costa Daurada, the historical town centre and the landmark the roman amphi-theatre, the city has a lot to offer.
In the roman time, the town was called Tarraco and was province capitol of Hispania Tarraconensis.

From the artistic point of view, there are not many places that have such a large number of monuments and tourist attractions concentrated in such a small area as Tarragona has. Iberian civilization remains are plentiful in the whole region, as well as multiple Roman vestiges, especially in Tarragona city, where you can follow the traces of Rome in the Catalonian region.

The splendorous past of the city is enclosed in its several well preserved edifices. Its most notable landmarks and tourist attractions are the Roman Amphitheatre in Tarragona and the Cistercian monastery in Poblet, as well as many other places of interest within the capital city, just to mention some examples. Reus, home town of the internationally famous Gaudí, is nowadays a centre for Modernism architecture, a kind of art also to be found in many wine cellars through the whole Tarragona province.

CULTURAL EVENTS
The International Dixieland Festival takes place every year just before Easter. In the first week of July, is held in the bay Punta del Miracle a firework competition between six invited pyrotechnics. In the middle of September, the Santa Tecla Festival takes place, one of the biggest traditional Spanish festivals.

COSTA DAURADA
The Costa Daurada shoreline is comprised of a total of 13 municipalities, which, over a stretch of 92 kilometres, offer some sixty different beaches in all shapes and sizes from the small, secluded coves of Mont-roig del Camp-Miami Platja to the dramatic cliffs of Torredembarra, from the high-iodine waters of El Vendrell-Coma-ruga to the fine sand and clear shallows of Salou. There are even nudist beaches, such as Torn Beach in Hospitalet de l'Infant.

Several Costa Daurada beaches have been awarded the blue flag by the European Foundation for Environmental Education, in addition to other distinctions, such as that earned by Creixell from the same organisation for its wheelchair-accessible beach or the Ecoplayas Award for clean and sustainable beaches and ISO 14001 environmental management system certification earned by the beaches of Calafell. The towns of Calafell, Salou and Cambrils have moreover been officially certified as family tourism destinations by the Catalan government.

UNIVERSAL STUDIOS PORT AVENTURA
The areas main attraction is the entertainment park Universal Studios Port Aventura. It consists of an aqua park and an amusement park, which can be visited together or separately. If you let the kids decide, you can easily spend 2-3 days here.

Tarragona area

Casa Costell is located in the outskirts of Riudoms, in the province of Tarragona, just seven kilometres away from Cambrils and nine of Salou. It is very near the amusement park of Port Aventura. In fact, from the property one can see, in the distance, the installations of this thematic park, the most important of Catalonia and one of the most appreciated of Europe.

By the east side we are 4 kilometres away from Reus, the Capital of Baix Camp, where there is an international airport. And following this line, 20 kilometres away, we find Tarragona, the capital of the province.

By the west side we find the neighbouring town of Vinyols i els Arcs and the Samà Park; a botanic garden that has trees and plants from all over the world. Very near we find the thermal waters of Montbrió del Camp. Some 20 kilometres away the region of Priorat is located, with its capital Falset as reference, a town that stands out due to the quality of its wines.

We herewith like to inform you that we have enjoyed our stay in Casa Costell last week.
The casa is really nice for families with children in different ages, as we had ( 10 children ). We have played football, hockey etc and we have cooked every night in the kitchen in the poolhouse.
Thank you very much for your recommandation for this house when we had doubts about the distance from holland. It was worth driving 1650 km's.
