Huerta Las Terrazas
Cottage | 1 bedrooms | sleeps 2
Set amongst stunning scenery on the Costa de La Luz, Huerta Las Terrazas is the perfect relaxing holiday destination. Bordering the national park of Los Alcornocales, the Casita offers unparalleled views over the Straits of Gibraltar and Morocco. Within easy reach are the unspoilt beaches of Zahara, ancient Roman ruins in Bolonia and cosmopolitan Tarifa, renowned for wind and kite surfing.
The Casita is a self contained cottage that stands alone and offers privacy away from the main house. Set in 3 acres, seven terraces offer areas of sanctuary and beauty. Relax under the shade of the cork trees or sunbathe by fragrant mimosa. Towering palms, vibrant flowers, fig, orange and pear trees enrich the lush grounds. The pool is constantly replenished with fresh spring water that descends from the mountainous backdrop.
The Casita is comfortably furnished with a double bedroom, a bathroom and a small galley kitchen equipped for basic self catering requirements. It sleeps 2 but can take an extra bed for a child. The Casita has its own terrace where you can spend the late afternoons watching the golden light of the sun catch the mountains across the Gibraltar Straits whilst enjoying a bottle of wine. As evening falls, you can gaze at the stars above and see the twinkling lights of Morocco in the distance.
Guests staying in the Casita have access to the beautiful gardens and swimming pool.

The Andalucia region
The Costa de La Luz is rich in nature, bird life and the countryside provides a wealth of opportunities to walk, climb, ride and explore its vantage points. The area is one of the last unspoilt coastlines of Spain and is characterised by the miles of incredible beaches that run from Tarifa to Cadiz.
Huerta Las Terrazas' position offers a great base to explore this Costa that includes the stunning city of Seville, the sherry town of Jerez and the ancient provincial capital of Cadiz. Wind around the hills of Andalucia to visit the white villages that cling to hillsides or to have an altogether different experience and take a day trip from Tarifa across to Morocco and discover a different continent.
Huerta Las Terrazas is a ten minute drive to the ancient town of historical Tarifa. Its geographical location provides the perfect wind conditions for windsports enthusiasts that come from all over the world. Their approach to life has stamped Tarifa with a very cosmopolitan, laid back character, that maintains a very Spanish feel. Within the original walls of the port town you can find a wealth of bars and restaurants, offering something for everyone – traditional tapas to hip interiors. The cobbled streets lead you past boutiques, surf shops, coffee bars and into the market, which bustles with life. The beginning of September says goodbye to the holiday makers and Tarifa stages a week long fiesta which is well worth witnessing.
Huerta Las Terrazas lies directly in the path of one of the most crucial migration routes in Europe, millions of birds migrating in and out of Africa, south in Autumn and north in Spring, are funnelled through the narrow sea crossing and over the hills close to the house.

The location has pleasant views as advertised: what's not advertised is the significant level of road noise from the nearby Algeciras-Tarifa highway. Dogs are also a problem: as often in Spain ou… More
We are grateful to all our guests that they take time to write thoughts on their stay - you are only as good as your last review! I am slightly puzzled why this review has come 21 months after their stay. We care deeply that all guests have the holiday they hope for, and after ten years of looking after people we feel aware of any problems that might arise. The casita is a self catering arrangement; we welcome all guests with a drink and let them know about the local area and how to get the best from their stay. We like to give our guests as much privacy as possible but are always on hand and happy to provide care and advice when they need it.
The photos illustrate the casita accurately and the clear uninterrupted view down to the Gibraltar Straits. The casita is small, but with a good sized bedroom, galley kitchen and bathroom. The large terrace with plenty of seating becomes the outdoor living area in the summer and has spectacular views to Morocco. Whilst we are in the country, road access to the fantastic beaches and charms of the local area is nearby. Fortunately I cannot remember a previous complaint about road noise, and the road is not visible and a couple of minutes' drive to access. The country is full of different noises, some more vocal than others, barking dogs are part of life here (but there are not numerous packs of large dogs as implied), as are crowing cockerels, goat bells, cicadas, Nightingales and constant bird song. We are always open to any comments or suggestions guest may have in order to improve and make their stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.

Lovely place to stay in this part of spain. The property was secluded, with a lovely garden which may it very easy to relax. The hammock under the orange tree was perfect! There is also a lovely view of Morocco from the property. The owners gave you loads of privacy but were on hand if needed with advice etc.
The area is great, a 10 min drive takes you to Tarifa which is brilliant to watch the kite surfers on the beach. Its windy but without that i think it would have been too hot for me.
Great place for a relaxing holiday

"Huerta Las Terrazas our twice yearly revive and refresh - Bliss"
In our experience Huerta Las Terrazas is unique. Al and Amy's welcome for the past eight years has always been a warm one. We always breath a sigh of relief on our arrival as we know a week of rest and recuperation awaits us. The cool clean ordered simplicity that the casita offers calls us back year after year. The secluded pool, stunning views, afternoons sleeping in the hammock and Amy's massages just add to the bliss. We like to hire a car for the week. Favourite trips are Algeciras market, Terrifa old town for evening meals and to wander around. Cadiz, Jerez, Verjer de la Frontera and Saville are all great days out. The beaches along the Costa de la Luz are all terrific depending on what you require. If we were thirty years younger the surfing would be great. As it is we find a secluded one to sit and gaze out at Morocco, read our books and watch the wild life. A trip to Bolonia is essential the beach is stunning especially in the evening but go in the day and visit the ruins of the Roman town of Baelo Claudia it is just fantastic and it has a great visitors centre. To make the best of your stay we would recommend car hire as it is a secluded spot, that's what makes it special. The shops, markets and supermarkets in Algeciras and Tarrifa are great but arriving on a Sunday can be a problem as they are all closed so go prepared. Looking forward to our stays in 2013 already ! ! !
