La Esperanza is a unique holiday destination for single travellers or couples who are seeking sun, tranquility and nature. It is a place of peace and harmony and lies 350 m above the Straits of Gibraltar with amazing views over to Africa. The property is located between the Straits Natural Park and the Cork Oak Natural park, an excellent starting point for bird watchers, hikers and bikers. Our place is also an oasis for those who are looking for a relaxing holiday. Amidst our lush 8000sq.meter garden with its palm trees, cork oaks and flowers you will find peace.. The beautiful views across the Straits to the Riff Mountains of Morocco as well as the sight of passing sailing boats and cruise ships will impress you daily.
The Casa Christina has two spacious well furnished rooms, one with a bed sofa and the other with two single beds. In the winter central heating and the open fire place in the living room ensure a warm and a comfy ambience. In summer meals can be enjoyed outside on the sunny terrace on the one side of the cottage or in the shady, wind sheltered patio on the other side.
Tarifa is only 10 minutes away. It is a lively, international, historic Andalusian fishing and wind-kite surf village on the most southern tip of Europe. On the way to the Tarifa island you can experience the unique feeling of beeing between two seas (Atlantic and Mediterranean ) and two continents.
Do you like good wine and Spanish food ? In Tarifa you can enjoy the huge variety of Tapa bars and restaurants. Have a stroll through the narrow streets of the medina of the old town and visit the historic castle and town wall.
The beautiful beaches of Tarifa are not far away and there you can sunbathe, swim, scuba dive, kite surf, wind surf or go horseback riding. (Our daughter owns the Aventura Ecuestre riding stables which iare on the beach). Our property is an excellent base for exploring the western end of Andalusia, with its historic cities, white villages and natural parks. Our house is also a good base for playing golf (Alcaidesa or Montenmedio Golf Courses are the closest) or for day trips to Tangiers. Whatever you want to do, the owners are happy to advise you .

The Andalucia region
The western part of Andalusia is beautiful. The mountainous areas are very sparsely populated and contain several Natural Parks, the largest being the Cork Oak Natural Park. This area is home to the white villages where the Moorish influence can still be seen .
The Atlantic beaches with their fine golden sand are amongst the best in Europe The main city in the region is Cadiz which is not high on the tourist trail but is in our opinion underrated and definitely worth a visit. In the summer it is pleasant close to the sea but too warm in the hinterland. For this reason many people from Seville have second homes in and around Tarifa where they spend their holidays and weekends in the summer. If you are interested in touring in the beautiful hinterland, the best time to enjoy the coast and the hinterland is in Spring and Autumn. Throughout the summer each village or town has it's annual "Feria" or festival where people dress up in traditional Andalusian costume and where there is dancing (flamenco) music and fun for a whole week.
Tarifa is a quaint fishing village at the southernmost point of Mainland Europe and is situated between the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. As a result it has a very temperate climate. In the winter it is 10C to 15C warmer than in Northern Europe, in summer it is seldom above 30 C and almost never rains. In the spring and autumn it is pleasanty warm with the occasional shower of rain. In recent years Tarifa has become a very popular tourist destination particularly for young kite and wind surfers. Other popular sports in the area are hiking, horse riding, rock climbing, mountain bike riding, scuba diving, paddle board, tennis and golf.
The Tarifa Feria is held during the first week in September. It is not a tourist event but a festival by the locals for the locals and anyone else who wishes to participate. Horses are at the centre of many of the Feria events.
There is a huge variety of restaurants and bars in Tarifa and in the evenings there is a wonderful, happy atmosphere in the town.
The recent creation of the Straits of Gibraltar Natural Park ensures that the coastline to the east and west of Tarifa will remain undeveloped in the future.
