The Sicily region

Villa Etna is only a 20 minute drive away from Taormina and the beaches of Giardini Naxos. Catania is only 1 hour drive away.

Villa Etna lies 2km outside of the ancient town of Castiglione di Sicilia. You can take a stroll up to this medieval town or walk 10 Minutes down the romantic dry-wall-lava stone paths toward the Alcantara-River.

The area sourrounding Villa Etna mostly consists of beautiful Vineyards and ancient houses. Very quiet and peaceful. Except for the wine harvesting period when it seems that all of Sicily is busy in the vineyards harvesting the grapes to make the wonderful wines of the region.

"Very recommended"

Charming villa with lots of character. Inside it is very tastefully decorated. The setting of the hous is just wonderful: on top of a hill in middle of a vineyard (literally starting at the foot of the house) with amazing views from the front of the house to picturesque medieval town of Castiglione and across the Alcantara valley to the rolling Nebrodi mountains beyond. The pictures online almost don't do it justice…it is truly breathtaking (for city- people like us)
The walled-in garden creates a lot of privacy…not that it is needed since the area is very much quiet and peaceful. Nice palm trees, Roses, Hibiscus and Oleander create a wonderful mediteraenean flair. There is also a highly recommended pool on the neighbouring grounds of Antica Cavalleria. It is only a 3 minute easy walk down the road from the villa. The local town of Castiglione was our favourite: whether for a coffee to start the day, winding streets to explore or for meals out. You have to be brave to go into a restaurant sometimes as they often look closed or empty but we ate at all those recommended and all were just wonderful. The villa is in a lovely non-touristy area, but yet the beaches and Taormina are only around a 30 minute drive away.
