A brand-new residence offering great panoramic views. This lovely apartment can comfortably accommodate 4 people as it has one double room with king size bed, one room with 2 single beds, bathroom with shower. Leading from the living area is the terrace, furnished with a table and chairs to enable you to dine al fresco or relax on a lounger soaking up the sun. The apartment is situated just outside Piedimonte Etneo on the north eastern slopes of the famous volcano Mount Etna and overlooks the Fogliarino valley. Ideally situated, it sits in the countryside but is in between the Mountain and the Sea. A perfect holiday to enjoy the clear blue sea and sunbathing or for enjoying mountain walks or skiing.

The Sicily region

Taormina / Piedimonte Etneo area
Piedimonte Etneo lies in a delightful geographical position between the Ionian Sea and the slopes of Mount Etna. Its excellent geographical location allows visitors easy access to the main tourist resorts on the island such as Taormina, Mount Etna, Catania and Siracusa. It is also well connected to the archaeological sites of Agrigento, Piazza Armerina, as well as Acireale and Noto, where you’ll find outstanding Baroque architecture.
Sightseeing
Alcantara Gorge: 10 km Situated in Motta Camastra, it can be reached by car following the State Road (S.S.185) to Francavilla di Sicilia or by bus service ( INTERBUS). The Alcantara Gorge is one of the most extraordinary natural phenomenon of the whole island: an amazing wild gorge, more than 20 metres deep, with the waters of River Alcantara flowing through two impressive faces of basalt prisms. You can go up along a part of the river (about 150 metres) if you are properly equipped. This beautiful rock formation, composed of basalt, was created by volcanic activity. Linguaglossa: 2 km Sicily covers a vast and various territory, in particular the area of Linguaglossa and the northern slope of Etna offer remarkable and a spectacular landscape There are two ski areas on Etna. The northern one ends in Linguaglossa and the southern resort is above Nicolosi. The northern side can be reached by the Highway A18 Linguaglossa and Piano Provenzana (altitude 1900 m.). You can also visit the Etna Natural Park with its numerous natural footpaths with graded levels of difficulties. Fiumefreddo: 5 km In Fiumefreddo you will find a natural reserve. Taking a foot path through wooded areas and passing the river Fiumefreddo. Drive along the State Road (S.S.114 ME-CT) to a place called Diana. Then get into the Main Road ( S.P.) to Marina di Cottone where at about 200 metres from the sea, you can reach the main entrance to and the reception of the reserve. You can walk along a foot-path, that does not present any particular difficulties. Going there and back is about 6 kilometres from piedimonte etneo and it takes about 90 minutes, including the time to stop and watch.
Taormina: 18km Taormina's approximation to the Ionian Sea makes it a popular destination not only for its ancient architecture, but for its beaches as well. With winding medieval streets and corridors, tourists exploring on foot can be guaranteed to enjoy not only the sights, but also the many fine Taormina restaurants, cafes and ice-cream bars that abound just around every bend. Many of these culinary gems lie on terraces overlooking the sea, or amidst lush and abounding gardens. More public eateries can be found in the town's plazas if perhaps you want to keep it more simple and enjoy a gelato while you people watch. Between the sights, sounds, and tastes, your senses are guaranteed to be alive and well, no matter where you choose to rest your legs for a bit and take it all in. Taormina Sicily and its location on a breathtakingly beautiful and hilly coast will surely reward the visitor looking for a truly Sicilian experience. Mount Etna and ski resort: 10 km Standing at almost 11,000 feet, Mount Etna dominates the Sicilian skyline, a vague threat situated near the island's eastern coast. This is the most active volcano in the world.Near the foot of the volcano, there are a multitude of vineyards and olive groves. As you climb higher, the lowlands evolve into dense woods sheltering a surprisingly large number of animal species that call the mountainside home, until you are left at the third tier of the mountain, a spartan wasteland of historic lava flows and volcanic ash. Dotted with snow most of the year, some of the lava is dated at 300,000 years old. In the past, scientists have used this area to test robots before they send them to Mars, becasue the atmospheric and geological conditions are so similar. From Linguaglossa you can access Piano Provenzana at 1,800m (5,906 ft.), the main ski resort on Etna. It's at Piano Provenzana that four-wheel-drive vans are organized for those wanting to go on excursions to Etna's dangerous summit. Many hikers walk from Piano Provenzana to the cone of Etna in about 3 hours, following the track used by the shuttle vans.
How to get there
Scheduled direct flights to Catania from London Gatwick with British Airways and Air Malta. - Low cost direct flights to Catania during the summer from London Gatwick and Manchester every Sunday (with Thomsonfly) and from London Gatwick and Manchester every Saturday (with Flythomascook and Westernair). - Scheduled indirect flights to Catania via mainland Italy with Alitalia (via Rome/Milan) and AirOne (via Rome). On request, a hire car can be arranged at a very competative price. From Catania airport take the motorway A18 towards Messina. ( When you join the motorway, you will pass a toll. When you get off the motorway, you will be required to pay. ) Take the exit for Fiumefreddo. Follow directions for Linguaglossa. After, approx 7 km, having passed through the small town of Piedimonte Etneo, and before Linguaglossa, you turn left for San Gerardo. Then approximately 500 metres on the left you will find San Gerardo Village.

Extra quilts are available and can be found in each of the bedroom wardrobes.
