The Sri Lanka Southern Coast region
The Sri Lanka Southern Coast offers the convenience of many exciting attractions temples, wildlife parks, beaches, tea factories, jungles – all within easy reach and packaged into unique and exciting experiences. Columns of palm trees fringe the ocean, great boulders litter the beaches and further beyond in the wildlife enriched woodland, birds flit over the rooftops of picturesque rural village homes.
The Deep South, previously hailed as the Kingdom of Ruhuna, is home to a fascinating collection of temples, both ancient and modern, that offer a detailed historical account of the country's diverse religions. We take you to our pick of the best temples – from Mulkirigala and Kirinda to Sithulpawa and Kataragama – whilst also assisting you in experiencing, hands!on, the region's exciting festivals if you are lucky enough to be visiting at the time. We have also found a few curious off the beaten track places whose legends will have you mystified for days!
Tangalle is a veritable paradise of natural delights. Picture postcard beaches, carefully hidden between headlands or located within secret coves, are largely deserted and devoid of footprints as the gentle wash of the ocean erases any from view. Kadju offers six Wilderness Experiences to remarkable nature reserves
where wildlife can be encountered in their natural habitats. Visit Yala National Park for its leopards (one of the highest leopard densities in the world), Uda Walawe for elephants and Rekawa's beaches for a glimpse of a marine turtle. Go to Bundala for the flamingos that flock there during the winter months, the Kalametiya Lagoon for its waders and the deep seas off the coast of Mirissa for one of the best chances to see blue whales and sperm whales together in the world. We will arrange your transport and send you with a delicious picnic that can be enjoyed in one of many scenic locations along the way!
