This charming one bedroom apartment is set on the top floor of a small residence, just 150 metres from the golden sandy beach of Tamariu. With a wonderful furnished terrace and great views over the resort it is the perfect hideaway for a couple or perhaps a small family with a baby.

It is rare to find a one bedroom apartment which benefits from a great location and comfortable accommodation so close to the centre of the charming resort of Tamariu. Set in an elevated position Anfora has a ‘penthouse’ location on the third floor of a small residence.

A communal staircase lead up to the third floor of the residence where there is a private entrance to the roof terrace that is exclusively for the use of guests of Anfora. This is a great private apartment suitable for a couple who want to be close to the beach and the restaurants and bars of Tamariu, but who also want the degree of privacy afforded by the ‘penthouse’ location of the apartment.

The entrance to the apartment is through sliding doors from the terrace into the light and bright living room, which has cool tiles on the floor, pastel coloured walls and a wooden beamed ceiling which has roof lights.

The living room has sitting and dining areas and an open-plan kitchen which is well equipped with a gas hob, fridge, coffee machine and microwave. There is also a television and a CD player, and a washing machine which is located outside on the terrace.

There is a small twin bedroom and an adjacent compact full shower room with shower cubicle, w.c. and wash hand basin. A cot may be provided as required.

WIFI access can be arranged using a router at a cost of €25 (download capacity 2gb) or €35 (download capacity 5gb). This service must paid for locally and pre-booked.

The roof top terrace is furnished with a teak table and chairs for dining and there are also two recliners for soaking up the sun and a sliding sun shade for the heat of the day. There are views over the resort and out to sea, and also inland and over the valley to the wooded hillsides that surround Tamariu.

PROPERTY REGISTRATION - the Catalan Government has recently introduced a new registration scheme for all rental properties called the H.U.T (Habitatge d'ús Turistic). Under this scheme only properties that are registered can be legally advertised, promoted and offered for rental on websites like Holiday Lettings. Anfora is a registered property and the H.U.T registration number is HUTG - 009888.

SECURITY DEPOSIT – is payable locally to the managing agent of the property on arrival. This can be done by credit card imprint which will destroyed at the end of your stay; should there be any deductions for breakages or additional charges you will be advised by the managing agent of the property.

TENANCY TIMES - the property is available for occupation between 1600 and 2000 hours (1800/1900 hours in low/mid season) on your arrival day and should be vacated by 1000 on your day of departure. Please bear this in mind when you are booking your flights. If you have flights that are arriving late we can arrange a late key collection for you.

TOURISM TAX - the Government of Catalunya Tourism Tax applies to all villa and apartment rentals. The tax is payable by all persons staying in the property over the age of 16 years. The tax is paid at the rate of €0.45 per person per night for up to a maximum of 7 nights and must be paid locally in cash to the managing agent of Anfora when you collect the keys of the property.

The Catalunia region

Catalonia, or perhaps better known as the Catalunya region, is the area of northern Spain bordering the Mediterranean just to the south of the French border. This ancient Kingdom once extended from near Narbonne in France down to Barcelona and eastwards to include the Balearic Islands. The area was later divided between France and Spain but even today it remains fiercely Catalan, as can be seen by the numerous red and yellow striped flags proudly displayed.

Perhaps Catalunya greatest gifts to the world have been its artists, Joan Miró and Salvador Dali are both from this region, but today’s artists, the chefs of Catalunya, lead the world with their own inimitable styles and the rather exceptional cuisine, demonstrated originally by Ferran Adria of El Bulli fame and today perpetuated by the Roca brothers in Girona.

For the holidaymaker this is the Costa Brava, known throughout the world for its scenic beauty, aquamarine seas and golden sandy beaches. The most attractive area of the coast is the small area around Palafrugell which stretches from Pals and Begur in the north, south through Fornells, Aiguablava, Tamariu, Llafranc, to Calella de Palafrugell. This dramatic coastline abounds with beautiful bays, coves and headlands, with sandy beaches washed by sparkling seas, and interspersed by glistening white villages, each very different, the perfect locations for relaxing holidays.

Inland, the countryside is mainly agricultural with some wonderful timeless villages like Peratallada and Ullastret set against a distant backdrop of the ever present Pyrenees. Visit Pals, the walled medieval city; Bisbal famed for its production of ceramics; Torroella de Montgri with its Gothic palaces, courtyards and narrow streets nestling beneath the Castell de Montgri, and the spectacular gardens of Cap Roig. There are various markets to explore, vineyards to visit and slightly further away the Dali Museum in Figueres; whilst the vibrant city of Barcelona is less than 2 hours away.

For the more energetic there are no fewer than 5 golf courses nearby; you can play tennis; follow a number of planned walking and cycling itineraries; go scuba diving; enjoy all manner of water sports; hire a boat and explore the coast; or just relax soaking up the sun on one of the beautiful beaches for which the area is renowned.


Named after the tamarisk trees that surrounded its bays, Tamariu is a charming small resort with a crescent of golden sandy beach, which is set on a sparkling bay between majestic tree clad hillsides. It is popular with families, beach lovers and those seeking water sports, walkers, cyclists and divers, and is renowned for its excellent fish restaurants which are set on the promenade overlooking the beach and sea.

Holidays here are relaxed, lunches are long and the evenings are late but fairly quiet. The paseo is the prelude to the evening meal with longer walks along the coast for the more serious hiker, along the ancient Cami de Ronda exploring the beautiful scenery and the many coves.

There are many local festivals in the surrounding towns and villages – the main event being the Catalan Festa de St Joan on 23 and 24 June which is marked all over the region with bonfires and firework parties.

"The outside space is great!"

Good - The outside space is fantastic, and a real plus for this apartment, with great views and shading from the heat. The balcony was not overlooked, really private. There were plenty of towels and bed linen in the apartment when we arrived, and was really clean throughout. The communication via email from the owner was also very good, the directions and how to pick up keys, was clear and made that aspect really easy. The facilities, such as the hob, microwave and washing machine were also really good.
The downside to this was the general state of the apartment, there did seem to be a lot of d.i.y jobs that weren't completed to a high spec, the wardrobe difficult to open and close, as well as the numerous cupboards. We didn't use the bedroom, because it was so hot, even with the aid of a fan, so we slept in the living room on the sofa bed which was cooler, the heat may be due the fact it is an attic apartment. The bathroom is in desperate need of updating, the shower was frustrating to use, due to the temperature control being really sensitive, the shelves in here seemed to be the result of bad d.i.y jobs and there was too many of them, and the sink didn't drain. The apartment could be de-personalised of artwork in the living space and bedroom.

"Lovely apartment with a terrace for sunbathing"

We spent a very enjoyable week at Anfora, a comfortable apartment which has a terrace with a super view. There is no air conditioning, but as it is on the top floor you can leave all the windows open day and night to catch the breeze.
The kitchen has a microwave and hob (no oven) and all the pots and pans you might need, and nice crockery.
If you want to buy fresh pastries for breakfast you can get them very nearby.
We don't go on holiday to watch TV... but the channels there are all Spanish, so no English news channels.
This apartment is not that far from the centre of Tamariu, downhill on the way there but to get back you must walk either uphill or up some steps, and then the apartment is on the third floor of the building.
The only downside to this apartment was the disappointing shower.
Tamariu is a lovely town though!
