Inside the villa, there is a light, bright open plan living/dining area with an archway to the kitchen. Both the living area and kitchen have direct access to the outside dining terraces and barbecue - making 'eating in' easy and relaxed.
The living room is equipped with the latest technology: internet access and Wi-Fi, a new 40 inch HD television with access to the main UK channels in high definition. The television has built-in applications for 'Skype' and youtube. In addition, the amenities include a DVD hard disc recorder, an ipod dock/CD player, together with a selection of dvds,children's board games and books.
The living room also has a wood-burning stove - useful for cosy evenings in the spring/autumn and the logs are supplied.
The kitchen, ideally positioned for chatting to friends and family during food preparation, is fully equipped with dishwasher, oven, hob, microwave and fridge/freezer. A washing machine is housed in an enclosure adjacent to the kitchen.
The bedrooms are divided between two floors: the first floor has a double bedroom and single bedroom, both with access to a large sun terrace and a full bathroom. The ground floor has a double bedroom, single bedroom and a shower room. All the bedrooms have ceiling fans.The separation of bedrooms/bathrooms ensures additional privacy for extended families or groups.

Outside, at the rear of the property, there are attractive south-facing gardens with a private pool (7m x 4m).
For the benefit of our clients, we aim to provide partial heating of the pool during May, June, September and October.
There are two dining terraces, one of which has a built-in and covered barbecue. The generous proportions of the gardens allow plenty of space for sun loungers and an area for table tennis and other games. The gardens are fully enclosed and gated and have the advantage of being largely on one level - useful for children.
As is typical of properties in this area, there are steps up to the villa from road level. From its elevated position, there are views of the pine-wooded hillside from the front terrace and gardens - more space to enjoy with some welcome shade under the pine trees - hence 'La Pineda'.

INCLUDED IN RENTAL PRICE: Wi-Fi, all bedlinen and towels (fresh linen supplied for holidays of more than one week), also pool towels and bath mats, cleaning before and after occupancy, a welcome pack for your arrival and the services of a local agent to attend to any issues during your stay. Please bring your own tea towels and additional beach towels. Cots and high chairs can be hired from the agency for a small charge.
The agency office, in the centre of Tamariu, has English-speaking staff and is open to assist you throughout the rental season. You will collect the villa keys from the agency office and be escorted to the property. Special arrangements are made for collecting the keys out of office hours.

Entry to the villa is from 4.00pm on day of arrival and departure is 10.00am.
Rentals will run from Friday - Friday during July / August; there is flexibilty at other times.

The Costa Brava/Catalonia/Barcelona region
Forget the images of high-rise hotels and the excess of mass tourism, this part of the Costa Brava, or, 'wild coast' is a world away. Picture this: pink, tinged rocks, small bays and beaches with pine trees as a backdrop - the coastline changes and so does its name. You are now in the 'Baix Emporda'.
Tamariu, Calella de Palafrugell and Llafranc are the villages linked to the nearby market town of PALAFRUGELL.
Palafrugell, just a few kilometeres away, is a proper, market town and as well as a selection of supermarkets and high street shops, has a large, traditional market for fruit, vegetables, meat and fish every day apart from Monday. On Sunday morning there is an even bigger version; full of colour and activity, in the streets off the main square selling a wider choice of goods including 'cottage garden' supplies.
The main town square of Palafrugell offers a choice of open-air cafes to rest and soak up the atmosphere after shopping. It is a joy to have dinner on a warm summer evening, with the region's local 'Sardana' dance taking place.
Within a short drive of Tamariu are several small towns and villages well worth a visit. These include: LLAFRANC and CALELLA de PALAFRUGELL, already mentioned. These villages are similar to Tamariu and are linked by a coastal path. A visit to CAP ROIG Botanical Gardens in Calella should be on your list. Just around the corner from Tamariu is AIGUA BLAVA - another stunning sandy cove. Close by is PALS - a wonderful medieval village, PERATALLADA - another preserved medieval village with some superb restaurants, L'ESTARTIT - a larger resort with access to the 'Illes Medes' - small islands which are now a nature reserve for sea life. Glass-bottomed boats tour the area and it is a magnet for snorkelling and diving enthusiasts.
With its ancient castle, the hilltop town of BEGUR, just a short distance from Tamariu, offers amazing views and has a real buzz around the small town square and is great for shopping.
The Tamariu area
Tamariu, originally a fishing village, has retained its Catalan identity and charm. The rocky, pink cliffs and smaller beaches, typical of this area, have kept the developers and large tour operators away. So you will not see tower block hotels, 'English' pubs or discos here - just authentic, family-owned bars and restaurants on the waterfront promenade and along a few side streets. On Saturday nights during July and August, there are often musicians playing traditional music on the promenade.
Tamariu can provide all the necessities with its two grocery shops and additional bakeries, though you will find a wider selection in Palafrugell.
The main beach in Tamariu is extremely clean; the water is crystal clear and ideal for swimming and snorkelling. The beach shelves at a fairly gentle angle and is safe for children. It is possible to hire boats, canoes and pedalos. There is a scuba diving club on the sea front that caters for beginners and experienced divers alike. Coastal and inland paths provide excellent opportunities for scenic walks and spectacular views. There is a forest footpath right outside the villa for keen ramblers. It is a popular area for cyclists too.
If you want to venture further afield, there are numerous other activities for the active and adventurous including: GOLF - there are several high quality golf courses (some of championship standard) within 20 minutes drive that welcome day visitors, WATER PARKS - one just 20 minutes away, another two about an hour away for a great day out, plus: horse riding, jetski, windsurfing, sailing, fishing, all available locally.
For a longer trip, visit FIGUERES with the amazing Dali 'Theatre Museum', GIRONA - a small city built on the banks of the river L'Onyar with old city walls and a historical centre, BARCELONA - with its famous 'Ramblas' and magnificent Cathedral plus much, much more.

1. Girona airport is the nearest (45 minutes drive) mainly served by budget airlines, also Barcelona airport - many scheduled flights from all over Europe (2 hours drive away), also Perpingnan - just inside the French border.

3. To make the most of your holiday, a car is advised. Search online and pre-book to get the best deals on car hire; cars can be hired/collected from the airports

La Pineda was very well equipped, was a real home from home, very comfortable with everything you would need. The owners had provided a substantial welcome pack (with wine) on arrival, which was a nice touch. October weather was very pleasant and we took advantage to have a few barbeques and eat outside. Tamariu is a beautiful little bay although at this time of the year it was a bit quiet, but that suited us fine. The villa is within walking distance of beach and restaurants, although you do need sturdy legs to walk back up the steep hill on the way back especially after a few drinks! The owners had provided plenty of information on things to do in the local area including some excellent coastal walks, some of which we tried out and found some beautiful little places. We were a group of 6 friends and without exception we all thought la Pineda and Tamariu was a wonderful place for a holiday at any time of the year. We holidayed in early Oct with friends (3 couples) in this excellently equipped house. Our experience of La Pineda was fabulous with lots of nice touches, such as a thoughtful welcome pack of goodies, towelling bath robes and poolside towels all provided. The kitchen was well appointed with a variety of additional 'bits' for the use of guests; salt, pepper, herbs, liquid soaps – all things you need but always forget at that first supermarket shop. The beds were very comfortable, the pool was perfect, the BBQ area was put to good use and easy to operate. The bathrooms were very clean and modern with a power shower downstairs. The condition of everything (inside and outside) was of an exceptionally high standard. Wi-Fi, Sky TV (not that we used this apart from a very quick Strictly catch up!) a supply of well stocked books and board games, along with bats, balls and outside table tennis table, all proved to be part of a well thought out holiday house. The owners clearly want their guests to have a great holiday and to experience the resort and surrounding areas. They had provided laminated ideas and suggestions of places of interest to visit, good restaurants to eat in and many beautiful walks. We used lots of their ideas and were delighted with their recommendations. We were lucky with the weather and even swam in the sea and jumped off the diving board at the end of one of the little bays. We all agreed we had a wonderful holiday in a fantastic house. We went a little out of season hoping for lovely weather, in a lovely location and in lovely villa and we got all three. The villa was like a home from home with all of the little details covered, including robes in the rooms which my wife was very impressed with. The pool was nicely heated and relief after the pretty cold sea. Tamariu was a delightful village with 7 or 8 good restuarants serving many delicious fish dishes, which we love. Overall I would say get down to the Costa Brava and use La Pineda as your central base. Response: Thank you for sending this review with such lovely comments.
