Reached down a long drive through pine trees from the coast road to Tamariu the villa is built on different levels. The entrance to the villa is through the middle level into a hall area which leads down a few steps to a large air-conditioned open-plan living room with separate sitting and dining areas and panoramic windows which open onto the swimming pool and terrace area which in turn overlook the gardens and the sparkling sea.
Both the lounge and dining room are comfortably furnished and well-equipped, with blue black marble floors which contrast with the sparkling white walls and the attractive furnishings. There is a large fully-equipped kitchen with hob and oven, dishwasher, microwave and fridge freezer; there is also a separate door that opens from the kitchen to a side terrace and the gardens.
Above the lounge the villa has a tower which is reached by a staircase from the lounge area here there is a further sitting room that can be best described as the 'den'.
Also on the middle level in a wing which opens off the hall there are four air-conditioned bedrooms and four shower rooms. The master double bedroom has windows that overlook the sea and an en-suite shower room. There are two twin bedrooms each with en-suite shower room; and a further twin room. There is also an adjacent family shower room with a walk in shower.
Stairs lead down to the ground floor of the villa where there is a more simple double bedroom which has an en suite shower and a salon. (This double bedroom is pleasantly furnished, but is not of the same standard as the remainder of the bedrooms, nor is it air-conditioned). In addition there is a utility room with a washing machine and drier, as well as a laundry room with ironing equipment. There is also a separate toilet and shower room.
Wifi can be arranged using a router at a cost of €25 (2gb) or €35 (5gb) per week. This must be prebooked.

The villa sits amongst pine trees and in the grounds there are areas of lawn. Along the front of the house facing the sea there is a large furnished terrace and a deck area which adjoins the magnificent blue tiled infinity swimming pool from which the water seems to flow directly into the sea.
There are areas of lawn and shrubs, but much of the grounds under the pine trees is a natural garden. There is also a large garage, set away from the villa for two cars.

PROPERTY REGISTRATION - the Catalan Government has recently introduced a new registration scheme for all rental properties called the H.U.T (Habitatge d'ús Turistic). Under this scheme only properties that are registered can be legally advertised, promoted and offered for rental on websites like Holiday Lettings. La Perica is a registered property and the H.U.T registration number is HUTG - 009677.
SECURITY DEPOSIT – is payable locally to the managing agent of the property on arrival. This can be done by credit card imprint which will destroyed at the end of your stay; should there be any deductions for breakages or additional charges you will be advised by the managing agent of the property.
TENANCY TIMES - the property is available for occupation between 1600 and 2000 hours (1800/1900 hours in low/mid season) on your arrival day and should be vacated by 1000 on your day of departure. Please bear this in mind when you are booking your flights. If you have flights that are arriving late we can arrange a late key collection for you.
TOURISM TAX - the Government of Catalunya Tourism Tax applies to all villa and apartment rentals. The tax is payable by all persons staying in the property over the age of 16 years. The tax is paid at the rate of €0.45 per person per night for up to a maximum of 7 nights and must be paid locally in cash to the managing agent of La Perica when you collect the keys of the property.
The Catalunia region
Catalonia, or perhaps better known as the Catalunya region, is the area of northern Spain bordering the Mediterranean just to the south of the French border. This ancient Kingdom once extended from near Narbonne in France down to Barcelona and eastwards to include the Balearic Islands. The area was later divided between France and Spain but even today it remains fiercely Catalan, as can be seen by the numerous red and yellow striped flags proudly displayed.
Perhaps Catalunya greatest gifts to the world have been its artists, Joan Miró and Salvador Dali are both from this region, but today’s artists, the chefs of Catalunya, lead the world with their own inimitable styles and the rather exceptional cuisine, demonstrated originally by Ferran Adria of El Bulli fame and today perpetuated by the Roca brothers in Girona.
For the holidaymaker this is the Costa Brava, known throughout the world for its scenic beauty, aquamarine seas and golden sandy beaches. The most attractive area of the coast is the small area around Palafrugell which stretches from Pals and Begur in the north, south through Aiguablava, Tamariu, Llafranc, Calella de Palafrugell to the gardens of Cap Roig. This dramatic coastline abounds with beautiful bays, coves and headlands, interspersed with golden sandy beaches and is washed by sparkling seas. The glistening white villages of Tamariu, Llafranc and Calella de Palafrugell, each very different, are the perfect locations for relaxing holidays.
Inland, the countryside is mainly agricultural interspersed with some wonderful timeless villages like Peratallada and Ullastret set against a distant backdrop of the ever present Pyrenees. If you want to explore, visit Pals, the walled medieval city; Bisbal famed for its production of ceramics; Torroella de Montgri with its Gothic palaces, courtyards and narrow streets that nestle beneath the Castell de Montgri, and the spectacular gardens of Cap Roig. There are various markets to explore, vineyards to visit and slightly further away the Dali Museum in Figures is well worth a visit; whilst the vibrant city of Barcelona is less than 2 hours away.
For the more energetic there are no fewer than 5 golf courses nearby; you can play tennis; follow a number of planned walking and cycling itineraries; go scuba diving; enjoy all manner of water sports; hire a boat and explore the coast; or just relax soaking up the sun on one of the beautiful beaches for which the area is renowned.
Named after the tamarisk trees that surrounded its bays, Tamariu is a charming small resort with a crescent of golden sandy beach, which is set on a sparkling bay between majestic tree clad hillsides. It is popular with families, beach lovers and those seeking water sports, walkers, cyclists and divers, and is renowned for its excellent fish restaurants which are set on the promenade overlooking the beach and sea.
Holidays here are relaxed, lunches are long and the evenings are late but fairly quiet. The paseo is the prelude to the evening meal with longer walks along the coast for the more serious hiker, along the ancient Cami de Ronda exploring the beautiful scenery and the many coves.
There are many local festivals in the surrounding towns and villages – the main event being the Catalan Festa de St Joan on 23 and 24 June which is marked all over the region with bonfires and firework parties.
