Small but compact south facing apartment located in a beautiful holiday village in Port Bourgenay. Golf, sea, sun and sand on your door step. Something for everyone in the family from sunbathing around the pool, taking a dip in the sea, playing tennis, golf, volleyball or just enjoying a long wandering walk through the woods. This apartment has it all - fully equipped so that you can relax on the balcony with a glass of wine in your hand and watch the world go by. TV, stero, dvd, ipod speaker system, dishwasher etc - all can be found in the apartment.

The Poitou-Charentes / Vendee / Vendee region

The Vendee is a beautiful region with a mild climate and boasts the same sunshine hours as the south of France but not so hot or as expensive! The area is flat so is ideal for biking and walking. There are lots of walking paths both along the coast line and in the woods. There are miles of attractive coastline and sandy beaches. It has easy access fom the Channel ports - less than 3 hours form St Malo and 4.5 hours from Caen. The Wars of the Vendee during the revolution are an important part of its history and there are interesting monuments and museums which tell the story of these times. The Puy du Fou is a major attraction with many events and son et lumiere during the summer which all ages will enjoy. Just outside the resort of Port Bourgenay is the car musieum which is a must for any car lover.

The village of Talmont St Hilaire is very close being just over 3 kms from the site,and has a first class boulangerie, large hyper market with a superb fish section, cafe/bar, hairdressers, tabac/newsagent, pharmacy. Talmont St Hilaire / Port Bourgenay area

Just 10 kms from the site is the wonderful shopping town of Les Sables D'Olonne with fashionable cafes, hypermarkets, museums and award winning restaurants. Easily accessible by bike (which you can hire on site) Also close by and a great day trip is Ile de Re - an island just south of Port Bourgenay. Island life goes on throughout the year with shops and services remaining open all year round. In autumn, visitors can admire golden sun-drenched vineyards and witness the grape harvest first-hand. In winter, the beaches empty to make way for horses and walkers wrapped up warmly against the wind. Although temperatures are at their highest in summer, the sun is present throughout the year. The ile de Ré reveals its other facets to those who know how to appreciate it in private far from the madding crowds of summer. The 10 typical villages of the island (Rivedoux,-Plage, Sainte-Marie de Ré (labelled Station Verte de Vacances), Le Bois Plage en Ré, La Couarde sur Mer, Ars en Ré, Saint-Clément des Baleines, Les Portes en Ré, Loix, Saint-Martin de Ré, La Flotte); Saint-Martin, the historical capital with its beautiful precincts fortified by Vauban; 12th-century Cistercian Abbaye des Châteliers; old royal buildings dating back to the British and French periods and the French religious wars (13th and 17th centuries); small museums such as the Hôtel de Clergeotte in Saint-Martin, or the Musée du Platin at La Flotte; one of the biggest European wild bird sanctuaries: Lilleau des Niges; salt-marshes where salt is still harvested before your eyes, oyster-farms, vineyards; the alleys between the green-shuttered whitewashed houses and their hollyhocks; numerous cycle-paths, windmills and thousands of other surprises – and finally, the bustling protestant city of La Rochelle with its museums, restaurants and popular Francopholies.

How to get there

Port Bourgenay is located on the Atlantic coast just South of the town of Les Sables d'Olonne and north of La Rochelle. It is approx an one hour drive (approx.)from Nantes Airport and the wine region of Bordeaux is just a few hours to the south.

We manage our apartment personally so it is finished with care and attention to detail. As we use it personally a lot, we have several additonal items included that are not usual in holiday apartments (DVD / books etc.) If you wish you can hire bedlinen on site as this is not included in the price of your apartment. The site is managed by Pierre Vacances so there is lots of variety both sport wise and for your entertainment. Pierre Vacances have levied a small charge of 45 euros per person for the use of the pool, this includes the petite train and sport tournaments. You can pick up your card from the Information Centre beside the pool. The beach is close by and is wonderful and uncrowded all the year. The town of Les Sables d'Olonnes is just a short distance away by car and has many good restaurants and shops.
