Aphrodite's Gardens
About the home
Our villa is perfect for a relaxing vacation with family and friends. At the end of a quiet cul-de-sac, nestled in the Tala Hills, this spacious and air-conditioned villa is on a large plot and is entirely on one level. Both bedrooms are appointed with Mission furniture (introduced by Frank Lloyd-Wright) and have en-suite bathrooms. The kitchen and dining area are fully equipped, and the large lounge area is complete with flat-screen TV, entertainment equipment, chez-lounges, sofas and lounge chairs, and its patio doors open onto a broad veranda. This villa is also ideal for honeymooners (after all, Cyprus is the island of love), and others seeking a peaceful, relaxed lifestyle in close proximity of modern amenities.
The veranda and its adjoining large pool come complete with a built-in barbecue, shaded tables and chairs, and is ideal for al-fresco dining. A large gravel area is at the rear of the property, and is great as a kids play area. Leading off a sweeping private driveway (secured by an automatic gate), the garden includes a pond, a lawn, a rose garden, and a grove of exotic trees and plants. Note that the villa was recently re-modelled and, unlike many holiday homes, is frequently updated with high-quality furnishings.

Enquire nowThe Paphos region
Paphos boasts an annual average of over 340 days of sunshine, outstripping other European destinations, and has a marine climate with warm and relatively constant temperatures year-round. Historically, Paphos is very important in Cyprus; less than 10 Km from the Villa and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Paphos was Cyprus’s capital. It is near Aphrodite’s Rock, where the goddess of love and beauty (also Venus in Roman theology) emerged from the sea's foam. With this pedigree, Paphos attracted visits from many salient characters - even going back 3,000 years to King Agamemnon of Homer’s Troy fame.
Evidence of the Egyptian, Phoenician, Greek and Roman civilizations can be found all around Paphos; including intact villas, theatres, sports arenas, all with amazing mosaics and fine art. New Testament sites include a temple where St Paul was flogged, a crusader castle (built after Richard I took Cyprus) and Venetian, Ottoman and even British fortifications. Being at the centre of where western civilization started ensured Cyprus developed a rich culture, moulded by the peoples and events around it. The cornerstone of Cypriot culture is characterized by its very EASY-GOING attitude and a true honesty. If you’re looking for a relaxed vacation, Cyprus is perfect; an enduring pleasure is to slowly make your way through its villages, absorbing their life perspective. Amble around out of the car while the goats cross the road, or stay for that last tasty dish, there’s no need to rush – they’ll know what kept you at your destination. Be sure to cross over to Turkish North Cyprus where there is a very different aesthetic, though a very similar, easy-going, culture.
Cyprus is in the middle of the ancient world; from Egypt's pyramids, to Israel’s holy sites, Syria and Lebanon's crusaders’ castles, Turkey's Ottoman Istanbul (Rome’s Constantinople), and Greece. These are all connected to Cyprus by quick (even overnight), inexpensive sea cruises – and each is a life-experience you will remember. You'll find details in the information pack at the villa; our English property manager is always happy to discuss options, while you are planning or when you are there.
The Tala area
Just 20 minutes from Paphos Airport you can be in the exclusive and beautiful Tala hills, the Beverley Hills of Cyprus, with spectacular mountain vistas as a backdrop to stunning sea views and sunsets; a favoured location for ex-pat residents. Tala is far enough from the tourist hustle, but close enough to get it when you want. Tala village square is just 1 km away and offers attractive Tavernas; the traditional to the trendy, the cost conscious to best cuisine. And check out Oliver's Deli (www.oliversdelicatessen.com) and The Gallery, an up-market bistro bar. The local community club for Brits is great for a quick dip and club sandwiches; go and make some lasting friendships there as many have!
The best Blue Flag sandy beaches in Cyprus are less than 5km away at Coral Bay, with exclusive hotels, and the range of boating, snorkelling and water sports - and the beautiful Akamas Peninsular is irresistible for its hiking and horse riding trails. 5km the other way is the imposing C12th St. Neophytos monastery. Paphos is geared for kids too; such as the fun times they get at the world-class Aphrodite Water Park and, if they have stomach for the more wild, they can enjoy go-kart tracks and paint-ball grounds. And, feel free to patronise hotel beaches and pools if you go for a drink or meal; there are top-end ones all up the coast.
There is also the full range of water sports you’d expect from a Med island; skiing, jet-skiing, skiing with parachutes and many other things, as well as boating, sailing, fishing – all within a few minutes drive. In the winter comes snow skiing on Mount Olympus at Troodos, less than an hour away. There are plenty of accommodations also there, including camping, and the area has magnificent views and extraordinary hiking trails. There are also jeep safaris to see protected Greenback turtles, waterfalls at Adonis, fishing villages, and sea caves in the Akamas National Park. For golf enthusiasts there are three top-end golf courses within 20 km: Aphrodite Hills (PGA standard; www.aphroditehills.com); Tsada (www.cyprusgolf.com); and Secret Valley (www.cyprusgolf.com). For retail therapy Paphos also hosts most high-end shops, modern shopping malls and a quaint old town and harbour district. It also offers the full range of restaurants, with cuisine from the Far East, the Orient, Europe and even the Americas! We’ll be sure to leave current copies of “Grapevine” and “Cyprus Living” so you can chose from the array of eating, shows and vibrant night-life activities.
