About this location
The Paphos District
The beaches of Coral Bay, the new golf course, the old harbour and the nightlife of Paphos are all within 15 mins drive. The ancient Monastery of St. Neophytos is only 10 minutes away. All of the amenities that Paphos has to offer including diving, fishing, golf, horse riding and water sports, are all easily accessible. Paphos is a world heritage site with many historical places of interest. Less than half an hour away is the Akamas National Park famous for trekking and its nesting turtles. The Troodos Mountains are an hour away.
Eight km north of the city of Paphos you will find the village of Tala which connects with Emba village in the south and the monastery of ‘Agios Neofytos’ in the north-east and from there on with the city of Paphos. The village is built at an altitude of 280 meters and has a general tilt from the north-east to the south-west with the altitudes ranging from 150 to 600 meters. Tala Square is a walk away with several Taverns and Cypriot eating places.
The focal point of Tala Village is in the Square, a typical beautiful Cypriot village square that includes little shops called Kiosks, bars, coffee shop serving Cypriot coffee and taverna’s. All the Tavernas serve traditional Cypriot food, from Lamb Kleftiko to the famous village meze. But each Taverna is known for one or two special dishes and we will try and guide you here.
Places to drink in Tala.......
Marios pub, serves snack food during the day. Sit inside or out and enjoy the local brew of Keo, Leon or if you dare the Commandaria!
Marios has a large TV for those all important football matches.
One of our favourites... is Melitzia Tavern, which can be found just before you reach the Square from Tala Vera. Savvas is your host and the food is cooked by his wife Maria. Probably the best Keflitico in the village plus other traditional dishes such as Stifado with beef or for the more adventurous rabbit. The village meze is also very good. Melitzia has a very good reputation with the local ex pats and so booking a table is recommended.
Donkey Man... Onisiforos formly owned Voukani Tavern. With new owners it serves up an international cusine. People are welcome to just have a drink on one of the tables and relax watching the village life go by.
Family run ..Stamna Tavern just up the lane from the square is run by Savvas and his family, a truly family run business. The speciality is village meze and anything from the grill, specially the catch of the day. A warm friendly atmosphere, the children perform Greek dancing on a Friday or Saturday night. Brandy is delivered in a unique way, be warned. Tables are outside to enjoy the summer nights and in the colder months a roaring fire is alight inside to keep you cosy.
Just out of the village sits Vrasidas Tavern and Museum. Enjoy the Kleftiko or some other traditional dish off the menu. Greek nights are on Friday nights during the summer months.
The Square Bar and Bistro
One of the newest...Restaurant to Tala is run by Sandra and Ray.
A very friendly atmosphere and offering an alternative menu to Cypriot with a mixture of English, Italian and French cuisine's, Thursday night they have a band or singer and dancing is a must. The Square Bar and Bistro has spectacular views of the Paphos Coastline. They also host wedding receptions.

"Great villa, great location"
The villa is located at the lower end of Tala with views of the coast. We felt at home as soon as we walked in through the front door. It has a lovely large outdoor patio and swimming pool which we didn't make full use of as we went there in December. The kitchen/dining/living room is open plan with the kitchen having granite work surfaces and all mod cons including a dishwasher. Tala village square is about a 20 minute walk uphill from the villa however it is definitely worth it as this is where Marios (the local taverna/bar) is located. It has a great laid-back atmosphere, SkySports on the TV and the cheapest drinks you will find anywhere. Right next door to Marios is a restaurant called Melitzia which serves excellent Cypriot food at very reasonable prices.
All in all a great base from which to explore the Paphos region and a comfortable home to return to after a hard day's sightseeing!

"Nice and quiet surroundings"
We have had a very nice holiday and enjoyed staying at villa Mira. It's a nice villa, well planned with a large kitchen and good size bed-rooms. We enjoy the village of Tala very much so the location was perfect for us. Walking distance to Tala square and Stephanies Corner where nice restaurants are found. The view was nice too overlooking the sea and Coral Bay area.

"We stayed at Villa Mira for one week with our teenage children."
As stated we stayed for one week. We had a fabulous holiday, which was made even better with us staying in the beautiful Villa Mira.It was perfect with a private pool and large BBQ area. The villa was well equipped and beautifully furnished. Our arrival was perfect with our Cyprus contact supplying basic groceries to tide us over, which was most appreciated as we had arrived in Paphos late evening.
The views from the villa are outstanding. We have been to Tala several times and are indeed returning in July 2014, again with our children and again to Villa Mira.

"Fantastic stay.... Villa was excellent"
The villa was in a great location, it was amazing to be be able to look out to the sea and over at the mountains at the same time, whilst watching the beautiful sunsets - absolutely stunning!! A corner of heaven!!
From the moment I emailed Gary with an enquiry, he was so helpful, and his advice on where to go in Tala proved invaluable - especially Marios snack bar... where else can you go and get a pint of Keo and a large glass of quality rose wine for 3.50 euros!!
The villa was clean and very homely, the pool was well maintained and when we had a small problem with the safe we phoned Martin and he was fantastic and came out as soon as he could.
Thank you Gary for sharing your house with us - we had a fantastic holiday and highly recommend the villa - made even more special as I got engaged whilst I was there!! Thank you again

"Holiday of a lifetime!"
A week of pure bliss! Villa Mira ticks every box. We spent a week just relaxing by the pool, wandering up to Tala square and visiting the restaurants and Mario's Tavern ( so cheap) and simply revelling in the glorious Cypriot sunshine.
If I'm honest, the holiday was so perfect because everything went so smoothly , something which rarely happens when you land in a foreign country and have to navigate into the unknown.
Gary and Ruby had been so fabulously thorough in all directions and personal titbits of information and recommendations. It's these aspects that just take the holiday experience to a whole different level.
We've already reserved our return for next year :)
Thanks again to Gary and Ruby x

"A great villa, with everything you need"
The villa is clean and tidy, and provides all the required amenities. It's in a quiet location, but not far from the action in Paphos and shops. Pool is of a good size, and was used extensively.
Weather was great and less humid than in Paphos, as the villa is located at a slight altitude allowing for a cooler breeze at night.
Gary was very helpful as was Martin the caretaker, who greeted us on arrival.
We recommend this house and will be happy to return soon.

"Home from home in the sun"
We found Villa Mira to be a clean, comfortable, quiet and relaxing place, well equipped, spacious and finished to a high standard.Although not needed, help was only a telephone call away.
The pool was of a good size and cleaned regularly and we made full use of the outside area.We had coffee on the covered patio, before taking breakfast on one of the outside dining tables. After breakfast the pool and patio was in full sunlight but you still had the option to lay or sit in the shade. The
barbecue area also had its own dining table and chairs.
The unmasked views of the mountains and sea and watching the sun go down over the sea was wonderful.
The village of Tala is within walking distance although a little hilly,it has a number of tavernas and restaurants in the square and a small supermarket.
The villa is situated a short drive away from Paphos and Coral Bay,and not too far from Polis and Latchi.
We all agreed that Villa Mira is a place we would return to.
