In the heart of historic centre of Ortigia (Siracusa) is our charming accommodation, a stylish restored one bedroom apartment in a beautiful area just in front to the baroque cathedral in piazza Duomo. Whether for a short stay, or a longer rental our holiday apartment Duomo is fully furnished and peaceful located. With more space, comfort, independence, privacy, flexibility, and freedom to work and relax the advantages of staying in a centrally located apartment are unlimited. Families, business travellers and vacationers will all find themselves equally at home in our apartments. Reach the bottom of the cathedral square and you'll find yourself in front of an iron gate. Inside a charming court will enchant you. Through the court and enter in the apartment. You are greeted by a large living space (about 35 m²) with a fully equipped cooking and dining area, and a sitting area with sofas, TV and hifi. A large window leads out onto a balcony overlooking the harbour.

This holiday apartment is approximately 50/60 m². No stairs as ground floor entry from piazza Duomo (one of the more charming piazza in Italy!). Then you discover the view at the balcony side is second floor over glorious sea scape! It is fully equipped with independent heating and it is composed of one bedroom with a double bed, one bathroom with shower and toilets, a large living room with a convertible sofa and a full kitchenette (fridge, stove, etc…).

In the neighbourhood there are many restaurants with typical or international food, bars and pizzerias, many shops with typical Sicilian products (food and crafts), many internet points and everything you need for a comfortable holiday.
In Siracusa you can associate art, history, sea, nature and food with the warm Sicilian hospitality!

The Sicily region

Sicily is a wonderful island and I think it isn't necessary any description!

If you care to venture a little further around Sicily than Syracuse, visit the beautiful city of Taormina (beloved of D H Lawrence and many other English writers and artists), the ceramics of Caltagirone, the villa at Casale di Piazza Armerina, the baroque splendours of Modica and Ragusa (where you should try the famous cuisine), the nightlife of Catania, the splendid landscape around Alcantara and, of course, the awe-inspiring heights and lave-flows of Mt Etna. Finally, the nearby coastline offers many wonderful opportunities for sea bathing in a warm and crystal-clear sea.

Syracuse / Ortigia area

Syracuse, the most ancient and magnificent of all Mediterranean cities, and former capital of the Magna Graecia, owes its unique charm to the succession of invading civilisations that have conquered it. It is a true melting pot of ancient Greek, Roman, Arabic, Norman, Byzantine and Spanish cultures and combines all their styles, tastes and scents. In every corner of the city traces of these ancient civilisations can be seen. A visit to Syracuse is like a journey in time and through history. Added to which is the wonderful coastline and delightful surrounding countryside. You will have the chance to mix art, history, nature and fine food with our warm Sicilian hospitality.

As a visitor to Syracuse, you should first see around the historic city, concentrating on the island of Ortigia, before visiting some of the many nearby sites: (including the baroque marvel of the city of Noto - a Unesco world heritage centre - the world-famous archaeological sites of Augusta and Palazzolo Acreide, the nature reserves at Vendicari and Cavagrande, the prehistoric site of Pantalica, etc.)

How to get there

The nearest airport is in Catania, then you can take a bus or a taxi to Syracuse.
We will give you more information (direction by car, map, timetable of the bus, etc.) when you'll book the apartment.
We can arrange a taxi for you from Catania airport for 50 euros!
