Eagle
About the home
The apartment is on the top (seventh) floor at the extreme waterside end of the building so there is only one quiet neighbour and no-one above.
All rooms have windows with unobstructed waterviews, yes, even the bathroom. Everyone who visits is delighted with the stunning views. The sitting room view includes the full sweep of the harbour from the South Head lighthouse past the city skyline and over the national park headland. The master bedroom window has a smaller version of more-or-less the same view. The second bedroom looks out over Manly Cove and the ferry wharf while the kitchen window looks across the peninsula to survey the entire northern beaches coastline from Manly up to Palm Beach
There is a nice park and sandy cove at the foot of the building and another one enclosed by a floating fence on the far side of the ferry wharf (one minute walk) that is ideal for young children. It is a two minute walk to one of the best ocean beaches you will find anywhere and all the shops and restaurants you could want.

Further details indoors:
Furnishings and appliances are new, decor is simple and uncluttered.
It is not airconditioned simply because it is completely unnecessary - at this height (7th floor) on the peninsula between the ocean and the harbour there is always a fresh sea breeze.
Further details outdoors:
The balcony is private and big enough for four people to dine alfresco.
As one can literally throw a stone into the water from the apartment a swimming pool would be redundant.
There is a garden but really the park at the foot of the building is delightful and there are a number of small sandy coves within a few minutes' walk with parks and BBQ facilities.
Further details
This apartment is called "Eagle's Nest" because of its unique location - it feels like you're perched on the edge of a cliff. It gives a great feeling of space and privacy.
Strictly speaking it is not wheelchair friendly but there is only one step to be negotiated (from the side entrance where you can pull up with a car) and of course a lift to the seventh floor.

The New South Wales region

NSW has a warm/temperate climate. Good beach weather from October to April, good golf weather all year.
Lots of National Parks and wilderness, mountain ranges, rainforests, wildlife, great beaches, quaint country towns, vineyards, opal mining, astronomical observatories, whale and dolphin watching, game and sport fishing (salt and fresh) and just about anything else you could want.
The Sydney / Manly area
Sydney is surrounded by National Park wilderness areas, over 6,000km2 so there are limitless opportunities for walking, climbing, horse riding (see for example glenworth.com.au and redballoondays.com.au), abseiling and anything outdoorsey you could want to do. Within a couple of hours drive are the Hunter Valley, Mudgee and Orange vineyards, old gold mining towns and many other historic sites, geological curiosities, the spectacular escarpments of the Blue Mountains, ancient aboriginal rock art, giant trees of the Bluegum forest, waterfalls and exotic gardens.
Sydney boasts a number of truly outstanding restaurants. Let us know when you make your booking if you are a bit of a foodie and we can discuss this further, make some reservations for you & etc.
Everyone knows of the Sydney Opera House but not so many people are aware that the Australian Opera is world class with an excellent opera season through winter plus a mini season in January to coincide with the Festival of Sydney. This event comprises hundreds of entertainments including free open-air opera and concerts and many fabulous touring shows. In February the famous Mardi Gras hits the streets.
Sydney is also a golfer's paradise. Lots of courses open to the public with very reasonable green fees (typically around $35 for 18 holes).
Manly is NSW's premier holiday location. It has a brilliant ocean beach and numerous protected harbour beaches yet it is only 15 minutes on the JetCat (30 minutes by ferry) into the centre of one of the most popular cities in the world.
Manly is a peninsula with the ocean on one side, Sydney's famous harbour on the other and North Head National Park at the tip. This park offers many secluded sandy coves and pleasant walks. A longer walk follows the north shore of the harbour for about six kilometres in large part through Dobroyd Point National Park. You can return on foot or by bus. Whales visit in June, heading north for calving and return in October, often stopping in the harbour for a few days rest on route.
There are facilities at Manly for hiring anything to do with enjoying the water - boards, wetsuits, canoes, sea-kayaks, sailing boats, paddle boats etc. Watch the parasails from the balcony (or have a go yourself), take diving classes or go snorkeling at Shelley beach (five minutes walk) where you will see the protected Giant Blue Gropers, take the kids to Oceanworld or just drop in a line off the jetty at the foot of the building.
Within a few minutes walk of the apartment is a lively restaurant and cafe scene, large supermarkets and many specialty shops. Manly golf course is a few minutes drive and for variety there are many more in the area. For anyone considering a long stay there is a delightful primary school for the kids less than 200m away.
