Home description
This Avalon beach house allows you to enjoy the peace and quiet of Careel Bay where pelicans nest, geese wander and local residents enjoy tinkering with their dinghies, yachts and kayaks or throwing a fishing line from the Careel Bay jetty. Our house is often referred to as the "treehouse" for its raised location and design high on poles and set amongst the tall surrounding spotted gums. The natural timber theme of the house exterior continues inside with polished floors and cathedral ceilings. With double access, guests of this house can avoid stairs with a double carport at the rear of the house but with additional ample parking in the quiet cul de sac of the lower main street address.
The house is fully renovated in a minimalist and modern style with two new bathrooms, new open plan kitchen, dining and lounge area. Views can be enjoyed from all living areas, with the master bedroom boasting a panoramic window and exceptional water vistas. Dining can be enjoyed in the kitchen/dining area or alternatively under the trees on the adjoining deck with gas bbq and outdoor seating for 8-10. This is where we escape to a cool shady place for a few drinks and a barbeque with friends and family. The cluster of three bedrooms are located separate to the master bedroom and have their own bathroom and toilet with one of these rooms doubling as our children's TV room. This is a perfect house for a family including 3-4 children. An internal laundry with washing machine and dryer opens directly to a back deck for easy clothes hanging or easy access after a sandy day at the beach! The house has a spacious open feel about it with an almost touchable closeness to the water.
Our easterly facing aspect means an early sunrise over the close water views of the boatshed and moorings. We are always aware of the soft noises reaching us from the bay; the small breaking waves, the odd halyard tinkling on a mast or the sounds of ducks and geese chattering on the beach. On weekends there is often the early morning sound of a fishing boat chugging away from the wharf on its way out to Broken Bay. During winter, one of our favourite activities is to walk via the mangrove boardwalk to the north eastern foreshores of the bay. No mater what time of day something will catch our interest; sea eagles soaring high overhead, kids enjoying a game of soccer, dogs exercising or the sun slowly setting behind the hills across Pittwater. In summer, for a change of scenery to to seek a completely safe swimming haven for the children, we head for Clareville Beach located on Pittwater and only a 5 minute drive from our house. This stunning bay is a favourite of locals with easy to use beach gas bbqs, shady tree cover if necessary and shallow water. Note to arrive early if seeking an sunset bbq as it is very popular in the summer months.
The little nook in Careel Bay is protected from the blustery winter winds and the summer southerly busters but enjoys the cooling north easterly breezes. As there is no through traffic, there is a constant feeling of peace and tranquility in the evenings and you become very aware of the silence. If you are luckly to experience a full moon during your stay than you will long remember its reflections over the bay enjoyed from our front deck or from the master bedroom.
Our 'Treehouse' haven offers you the best of both worlds in the northern beaches....the peace and beauty of Pittwater or take your pick of your favourite local beach...Avalon, Bilgola, Whale and Palm Beach.
We look forward to welcoming you in to our home.

Two TV areas have also been created so that adults and children can enjoy their shows and DVD in peace however the children's TV room does double as a guest bedroom with a sofa bed. On request a pram, toys and an extensive children's DVD library is available with an option for access to bicycles also if age appropriate.
Master bedroom includes a king size bed, large wardrobe and walk-in wardrobe plus an en suite bathroom with shower, toilet and heated towel racks.
Children's room includes 1 standard single bed and a king single bed. There is an additional single mattress stored under the single bed if required.
The children's room is accessed via two other bedrooms. Each of these bedrooms contain a queen size sofa bed. When not being used as bedroom one of these rooms is utilsed as a TV (with DVD and Video player) room for the children.
These three rooms share a bathroom with a bath, shower and toilet. These three rooms and the bathroom are insulated from the noise of the main living area by a wall and another door.
The living area with large LCD TV, DVD and VIDEO can be enjoyed when in kitchen or dining. This area includes two large 3-4 seater leather lounges.
The lower lounge area overlooking bay is surrounded by glass stacking doors with extensive views and can seat up to 8 persons comfortably. The CD player is located in this area.
