Home description
Skippers is a privately owned family holiday home and conseqently furnished and decorated to a high standard. Many of our visitors return again and again as may be seen from the visitors book. We are the second in a row of 5 cottages located at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac with 2 parking spaces (invaluable in Swanage). The cottage is on 2 floors with the kitchen, cloakroom, lounge, small conservatory on the ground floor; Bedroom 1 with double bed and Bedroom 2 with a single size four-poster bed on the first floor;; Bedroom 3 with a pair of 3' divans, bathroom with bath and electric shower and a small boxroom where we keep a travel cot, old high-chair, selection of games, ironing board etc., on the second floor. As there are 2 floors and Swanage itself is very hilly, we are not suitable for people with walking disabilities. Outside there is a small patio garden, enough for outside table & chairs. Bed linen is offered as an optional extra.

The West Country / Dorset region
Swanage, which has the reputation of being an 'old fashioned' seaside town is situated on the Isle of Purbeck, designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty. Swanage Bay is perfect for small families, being safe, sandy and kept spotlessly clean. The nearby Studland peninsular (owned by the Nat. Trust) offers a two mile sandy beach backed by dunes on one side of the road, and the spectacularly beautiful Poole harbour on the other. There are many boat trips on offer, both from Swanage and Poole - and visiting Brownsea Island, Weymouth, I.O.W., Bournemouth is easy by boat - or just take a fishing trip. There is a privately owned steam railway in Swanage with a line to Corfe Castle - it even has a buffet car. There's lots to do, super for walkers, and many places of interest in the locality.
Swanage / Swanage Bay area
Swanage is quite big on music, and has its own Blues festival and Jazz festival throughout the year. Also, the Swanage carnival which last a week at the beginning of August is justly famous. We keep an information book at Skipper detailing all local attractions, which are really too numerous to mention here.
How to get there
Swanage is a bit of an end-stop seaside town and really most easily reached by car. The nearest main line train stations are at Bournemouth and Poole. You would then need to catch a local bus ton Swanage. There is an airport at Bournemouth.

Further details indoors: As this is our second home, we do pride ourselves on Skippers being well and attractively furnished, with a good smattering of antiques. I am afraid we are a non-smoking house and pets are welcome if they are VERY well behaved, but we would point out that the garden is not large. In our garage there are numerous items our visitors are welcome to use eg: picnic basket & table; tennis rackets; chairs, beach equipment etc. etc. There is a large selection of beach inflatable toys, but we stress, that children should NEVER be left alone in the sea with any inflatable toys.
