"Stylish house, short (but steep) walk from town, with great view of bay"

Stylishly furnished, comfortable holiday house in quiet area of Swanage - set high on hill (Durlston Park end of town) - hence views of bay towards Harry's Rocks. Comfy and pretty well equipped. … More

Likeable family and pleased they enjoyed their stay.
Bit uncertain why they aren't 5 stars for cleanliness for toilets/bathrooms as all are meticulously cleaned by us.Amenities are only 4 also. Uncertain why. I know one family at least who rent their house during the vacation. It is small, in a through road with run down properties. Its small also. They charge much more than we did! Our house is stunning! French marble fireplaces, imported by us. Marble bathrooms. All new facilities.Thankfully no more renting for us! I believe the new owners may rent the property, though they also intend to live in it.I don't think you will find any better in Swanage! Oh, directions. We always ask if help is required but are told on most occasions sat nav is used.Lovely family and well left, though bottles put in wrong recycling bin but its of no consequence!

"Mistaken Identity"

Was advertised as Cottage in Langstone Matravers, with views of Corfe Castle, but turned out to be a townhouse in Swanage, located on a steep hill. Neither Tripadvisor nor the Landlord would accept re… More

We are sorry this couple felt like this. Some relevant facts though in response to their irrational and incorrect remarks.
1. The location error was due to a glitch on the lettings website and we offered them a full refund once the error was pointed out. They chose however to stay.
2. The house is a large, renovated house with expensive furniture-leather newly upholstered chairs, large individually made 4 seater sofa and other newly covered armchairs in velvet.
3. The house has been sold above market price and the new owners wanted to purchase the furniture (which isn't for sale), because they thought it was so tasteful.
4. It is a large house and cleaned thoroughly and extensively always. The fact they sought out some dust high up on one Antique French wardrobe is more a compliment than a criticism, I would think!
5. The house has new expensive and 'named' bathroom suites and an ensuite walk in shower. All appliances are new and expensive high end.
6. The house is remarked on by friends and neighbours for its style and comfort, as well as all guests who have stayed.
7. The rubbish situation is now standard in most areas of the UK. It is designed to save wastage and recycling takes little effort to comply to. No one else complains.
8. The simple arrangement with a neighbour is of no consequence. There is free parking outside the house and all the way up the road and to the side road.
We have now sold the house so it is of no consequence but the record has been put straight. We met the couple and saw them in and showed them round and they were complimentary. A strange and sad reaction.

We stayed in this house in the summer (July 13-20th ) with our teenaged children and had a fantastic time both in the house and in Swanage. We live in the South of France and run our own Maison de Mait… More
