The East Anglia region

East Anglia is famous for its dry climate and beautiful skies. Although not everyone is lucky with the weather, East Anglia is the driest part of Britain and enjoys sunny days and clear nights. The countryside and coast are rich with variety from Thetford Forest to the seven miles of sand and sand dunes at Holkham, to the creaks and inlets at Blakeney and Cley. Interesting towns and villages inland hold a wealth of English history, Visit the historic cities of Norwich and King's Lynn of explore the countryside. Norfolk abounds with great walks or drives with friendly pubs and cafes for welcome breaks. Many old churches, windmills and ancient buildings add interest along the way.

Swaffham is the ideal central location for getting to know Norfolk. Midway between Norwich and King's Lynn, it is conveniently situated for visiting the royal estate at Sandringham, the Norfolk broads, local National Trust properties and the coast.

Swaffham is a traditional East Anglian market town (where the BBC series 'Kingdom' was set). It has regular indoor and outdoor markets with a Saturday auction and occasional international and local farmers' markets. Try our local book shop with cosy cafe and luscious home-made cakes or visit the Green Parrot for health food and therapies. The small local museum and information centre would be a good place to start your visit and find details of local activities and events. Lunch at one of the homely pubs or just get fish and chips from Mother Hubbard.

Additional interests include Peddars Way walks, bird reserves including Pensthorp, Cley and Welney, seal trips off Blakeney Point and outdoor pursuits at Santon Downham Forestry centre. Local paintballing, karting or ExTREEme tree top adventures may tempt the more active. Many people enjoy a visit to the Ecotech centre in the town.

"Lovely relaxed visit"

We stayed at Wren cottage at the end of the month as we were property viewing in Norfolk.
It was very central for us and the house filled all our needs.
It was lovely to be greeted by the owner with some fresh eggs from her chickens.
The house was warm and cosy and had a nice garden backing on to open fields to enjoy.
Will return.

So glad you enjoyed Wren Cottage and Swaffham. You will be most welcome to return.

"Perfect Country Retreat!"

Wren Cottage was very easy to find, to the south of Swaffham. The frontage is deceptive as the cottage is a moderate size two bedroom house house with all the facilities one would expect. The mature… More

I am so pleased you enjoyed your stay but what a pity your shower was cold the first day!! It has made us check with new guests that they know how to use the 'one hour boost' when hot water runs out. It is a good job it was OK for the rest of your stay. Hope to see you all again.

"Lovely cottage, wonderful hosts!"

I stayed at Wren Cottage with my teenage daughter who was on work experience. It's a lovely cottage in a very nice location and the hosts Julia and Bob were very kind and helpful in making us feel at home. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a holiday home rental to explore West Norfolk.

It was a pleasure having you both as our guests and you will be welcome back at any time you are in Swaffham.

"Very comfortable accomodation"

The owners of the property are wonderful and greeted us upon arrival to the property even though we arrived very late. Me and friends wanted a short get away from London and found the area and the property perfect for the job. The cottage can comfortably accomodate 4 people and is in excellent condition and everything was neat and tidy. The garden is wonderful, and we really enjoyed sitting in the garden in the afternoon sun. The area is very peaceful and very different from london. For the price, I could not recommend this cottage highly enough. Thank you.

We are so glad you enjoyed your stay. You will be welcome back any time.

"A lovely property - with a warm welcome on arrival"

The property was as described - with good facilities and everything you would need for a comfortable stay. We had good comunication with the owners throughout the booking process, and they were there to greet us and run through details. There was a really useful guide book showing everything in the surrounding area and lots of brochures to peruse. There were even fresh laid eggs for us from the owner's chickens which are so much better than shop ones.

So glad you enjoyed your stay and found some of our local treats. I hope we see you in Norfolk again.

"A comfortable, convenient well-resourced holiday cottage"

A warm welcome from the owner, clear explanation of the facilities and a useful file of areas to visit were awaiting us on our arrival to Wren Cottage. We found the position of the cottage most convenient for our stay. It backs onto open fields with ready access to pleasant dog walks - much needed as we had our 8 yr old dog with us.
The house was warm and facilities all functional and efficient. The position of the cottage meant that we were able to tour the district with ease and to get to the local market town in a few minutes.
A very pleasant stay ensued with prompt attention from the owner either via email or phone when needed. Strongly recommended

Thank you for being great guests. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay.
