The Coastal Montenegro / Budva Riviera region
The Coast
The coast has the same stunning Adriatic coastline as Croatia with secluded bays and beautiful beaches.
Boka Kotorska Bay
One of the most attractive bays on the Mediterranean which consists of four bays linked together by narrow straits in the sea. You will first see the bay when when travelling south from Dubrovnik towards Sveti Stefan. Stop off en route at the small fishing village of Perast for some refreshments or perhaps a swim. A must is the medieval walled city of Kotor. Behind the mighty 20m ramparts that shield Kotor from the waterfront are vegetable and fish markets, the harbour bustle and a labyrinth of small streets which offer excellent shopping and a great selection of bars and restaurant for a night out. Kotor is listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
Budva old city
One of the most impressive medieval walled cities, with a similar look and feel as Kotor with narrow streets and small squares and a life of traditional music and dance. Why not grab a boat and take a leisurely sail along the coast line and many small islands?
Sveti Stfan - a jewel of an island
Another 15 minutes drive from Budva brings you to the famous costal island and town of Sveti Stefan. The island is now a picture book hotel with clustor of roofs and a sand bar linking it to the shore. You must walk from the coastal path of Sveti Stefan to the secluded beaches of Milocer. A must is visit to the Hotel Milocer a wysteria-clad hotel that use to be the property of the Yugoslav Royal Family.
Petrovac
Further down the coast is Petrovac, one of the most frequented beaches in Montenegro. The pretty little prom is lined with greenery and flowers, the off-shore breeze rosemary-scented cottage gardens. A walled harbour is guarded by a 16th-centrury Venetian fortress.
The Central Area of Montenegro
Go and explore the central area of Montenegro where you will find a number of historical and cultural monuments including the enchanting Skadar Lake. The National Park covers 40,000 ha and is one of the largest lakes in Europe, containing 40 different kinds of fish. Bordered to the east by Albania the lake is encircled on three sides by the Montenegrin mountains. The national park is one of the largest bird preserves in Europe. Take one of the fleet of boats around the lake and see for you self the sheer beauty the lake has to offer.
Sveti Stefan area
The Mountains of Montenegro
The Mountains offer a diverse range of activities, including magnificent high altitude skiing, white water rafting, mountaineering and hill walking. Well worth a visit is Tara Canyon - the second largest in the world, the Tara is Montenegro's longest river offering not only spectacular scenery and historical monuments, but exceptional white water rafting.
Visit Durmitor where you can enjoy about 120 days of snow between December and April, Ski boadring is very popular with a range of intermediate red and easy blue with one very challenging black run. With a full range of instruction ski schools available.
