The East Anglia / Norfolk region
The Norfolk Broads is a network of inland water ways. It attracts many visitors wishing to enjoy the scenery, wildlife (especially birds), watersports, beaches, cycling (it's quite flat) and charm of the area.
Norfolk is one of the driest counties in England with warm summers and only an average rainfall of 624mm. With average summer temperatures reaching the early 20's what more could you ask for.
This year, early on we had some snow Norfolk is that typical picture postcard, beautiful in the winter too.
Sutton / Sutton Staithe area
Sutton is situated on the River Ant in the heart of the Norfolk Broads. The Broads offer a diverse array of birds, butterfly's and wildlife. Ranging from the Raptor's to the Swallowtail Butterfly there are numerous species found only in this area of Europe. From the comfort of Sutton boatyard grounds you can marvel at the grace of the heron, be amused as the ducks come into land and ponder at the destination of the geese in formation. No wonder the Broads has always attracted bird and nature lovers because it’s all there right in front of you in all its unspoilt glory.
Well situated for Norwich "a fine city" and Great Yarmouth, a busy holiday resort, Stalham is central for a variety of interesting places. The Museum of the Broads can be found at the local staithe, Wroxham is only 7 miles away and Wroxham Barns where you can see local craftsmen and women working and where you can buy local work. North Walsham with its Nelson connection is 8 miles away and both places can easily be reached by car or bus, there are stations at both places, Stalham lost its railway in 1957. Dont forget to visit Sutton Mill whilst your here, the tallest mill in Britain.
Even if you haven't a car, there are still many places of interest within walking, boating or cycling distance and there is usually something to suit every member of the family, bikes can be hired either from The Bike Shop in Stalham High Street, or at Sutton Staithe under the Broads Authority bike hire scheme.
How to get there
A flight can be caught into Norwick Airport with a number of budget airlines include Flybe for flights within the UK and BMI, KLM & Eastern airways, as the property is only 28km from the property and the road network leading to Sutton is good, driving after your flight is easy. Cars can be hired through a number of budget car hire companies including Easycar and MyCarHire. We can help with further details if needed.
Their are 2 ferry ports both of equal distance give or take a few miles, Felixstow and Harwich. Drivng from these ports for those that don't wish to fly will take you about 2.5 hours to get to Sutton.
Bike Hire is also available from Stalham High Street when you arrive for those that want to take the road and be at one with nature.
