You pass the poly tunnels with the soft fruit ripening as you approach and park up directly outside D'Arcy Spice.

D'Arcy Spice is one of two semi detached cottages that are available on this family ran, soft fruit farm and is named after a lovely old variety of apple.

You enter the cottage through the French doors leading from the decked verandah, straight into the open plan living space. The high vaulted ceiling gives a sense of space and the double aspect provides a light and airy feel. Two large, comfy sofas create a cosy lounge area for chilling and watching television on those rainy days. The cottage is well stocked with books and DVDs, so less to pack.

The large dining table for six is perfectly positioned close to the kitchen area and is great for family meals and planning holiday outings. The kitchen is well equipped and has everything you could need for your holiday catering.

The master bedroom has its own ensuite shower room, with heated towel rail and the twin bedroom has its own television, should the children wake early and wish to catch up on children's TV. There is another shower room with a heated towel rail. There is a sofa bed in the large lounge that can be used to accommodate a party of six.

The outside space is the south facing, decked verandah at the side of the cottage. Here you can enjoy the sunshine as table and chairs are provided and a gas barbecue on request. Although there are no direct country views from the cottage, a gentle stroll towards the picnic area at the top of the farm provides beautiful views across the Weald.

There is an interconnecting door with the adjoining cottage, Innishfree should you wish to cater for a larger party and these can be booked together and a 15% discount applies.

Due to the location of the cottage, please be aware that there may be tractors and other farm machinery operating close by, so young children and pets should be supervised at all times.

The Kent region

Kent, known as The Garden of England, is a beautiful county, full of stunning gardens, quaint villages, beautiful coastline and all set in a picturesque landscape.

Charming beaches - many of which achieve Blue Flag status, stretch from Whitstable, renowned for its Oysters, to Dungeness, known for its RSPB Nature reserve.

The North Downs/ Pilgrims Way extends from the White Cliffs of Dover to Surrey and are an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, along with the Kentish Weald, all beautiful to explore whether on foot, cycle or by car.

No visit to Kent would be complete without a visit to Canterbury, with its UNESCO World Heritage Cathedral & the heart of religious England for 1,400 years.

So whether you wish to visit stately homes, castles, gardens, seaside resorts, country pubs, golf courses or vineyards, the county of Kent, really does have something for everyone.

Sutton Valence

The village of Sutton Valence boasts three pubs, all within walking distance of the farm, an uphill stroll to start with but downhill on the way home. The village even has its own 12th Century Norman keep, with fantastic views over the Weald and is free to visit.

The village of Headcorn with its picturesque, chocolate box cottages, quaint tearooms and mainline train station is just three miles away. If you fancy a day trip to London, the journey takes just an hour, or if you fancy hopping over to France, then a quick train to Ashford to pick up the Eurostar couldn't be easier.

The market town of Maidstone is only five miles away and is known as the 'Garden of England'. Once better known for its brewing and paper making past, now more of a haven for shoppers and tourists. The river Medway runs through the centre of town, linking Maidstone to Rochester and the Thames Estuary. Once the main trade route, now used more for pleasure and tourism, with a River Festival in July. The town has a selection of museums and galleries to enjoy.

The historic town of Rochester is thirty minute away, where you can visit the home of author Charles Dickens, Rochester Cathedral, Rochester Castle and the Historic Naval Dockyards. The Dickens Festival in June, Sweeps Festival on May Day and the Dickensian Christmas Festival in December make a day out here very worthwhile.

If you fancy a trip to the coast for a day, you have lots of beaches to choose from, with the closest being about a 45 minute drive.
