Cottage | 2 bedrooms | sleeps 4
Looking for a holiday cottage that's within easy reach of the coast but in a peaceful rural location away from the crowds? The Stables might be just what you are looking for.
The Stables is a pet free two bedroomed holiday cottage sleeping up to 4 people and located in the rural hamlet of Hannah, in the County of Lincolnshire, which lies between the historic market town of Alford and the sandy beaches of Sutton-on-Sea. We are an ideal base for your holiday whether you want to stay in the local area or head further afield.
If you choose to relax and stay close to Hannah then Alford has antique shops; a twice weekly market; regular craft market; five-sailed windmill and Manor House to discover. Heading towards the coast you will find the quiet sea-side resort of Sutton-on-Sea and the livelier resort of Mablethorpe, both with wonderful Blue Flag beaches stretching for miles.
Or if you feel like exploring a little further afield we are also close to the Lincolnshire Wolds which are ideal for the rambler or cyclist. How about a visit to Horncastle with its many antique shops; or Louth, the Historic Capital of the Lincolnshire Wolds, both a half hour drive away. An hour's journey away you will find the Cathedral City of Lincoln with its shops, museums and eateries. Take a drive another day and you can visit historic Boston, the home of the Pilgrim Fathers' and the Boston Stump.
Finally who can forget that Lincolnshire is 'Bomber County' and we are ideally placed to visit the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight based at Coningsby which is around 40 minutes drive away. The Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre at East Kirkby, is the home of the only other working Lancaster in the Country and is about 30 minutes drive away.
All in all a holiday in The Stables offers you the choice of a relaxing rural retreat or a break packed with places to visit and things to do - the choice is yours.

The Lincolnshire region
The Stables is ideally situated for both the seaside towns of Sutton-on-Sea and Mablethorpe, as well as only a few miles from the Lincolnshire Wolds. There are a number of attractions in the area, such as the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre at East Kirkby, several miniature railways, windmills, Batemans brewery, Horncastle - famous for its antiques shops, Louth's quaint town centre and churchs in nearly every town and village. Further afield there is Boston's famous Stump and Lincoln with its shops and museums.
Hannah is a small peaceful hamlet located between Alford and Sutton-on-Sea. There is a small church, one of the few left with original box pews, and there are a few lanes for walking or cycling through the open countryside.
Alford is just a few miles further inland and features a selection of shops, banks, post office, antique shop and the Manor House Museum. There are several tea rooms and pubs that serve hot meals.
We are just 2 miles from the seaside village of Sutton-on-Sea with it miles of sandy beaches with beach huts that can be hired for the day or week. There is a childrens playing area with toddlers paddling pool.

This accommodation was short of nothing. We had a phone call on the day from Peter saying that the property was ready for us and a warm welcome from him and his daughter on our arrival. They even he… More
Thank you for your review and we are glad that you enjoyed your stay at The Stables.
Wi-Fi access is proving difficult. I believe that this is mainly due to the building being so well insulated the signal cannot get in or out. Guest sometimes find they get a poor mobile reception here in places. We are looking at ways to improve this, but we may have to wait until mid 2015 when this area gets superfast broadband.
The comment that we are on a 'very busy road' isn't really fair. Most of the day the road is very quiet. At Harvest time there is more farm traffic and during August there are more tourist vehicles but this is mostly daytime and even then there are long periods with no vehicles in sight. If this was a very busy road, we wouldn't have moved here.

We would agree with this review and are pleased that you enjoyed your stay. The Stables does back onto a country road and if you have the main bedroom window open during the day there will be a little road noise although it is a very quiet road most of the day.
