Home description
Located 25 minutes from Cherbourg a few paces from a quiet sandy beach, overlooking The Channel Islands and benefiting from the Gulf Stream. This newly built, fully equipped house is a short stroll away from a lakeside restaurant where Heron’s and other wonderful bird life can be spotted, while enjoying a cool drink and such delights as Moules et Frites and Crepes.
Further down the lane are two shops, the local Boulangerie with fresh bread and cakes and other delicacies and the other selling all the basics to assist in a stress free holiday. For the adventurous a water sports school (seasonal) is located on the beach and those who enjoy walking could choose either the shorter walk along the beach to the headland and along to the next cove or a further walk to the busier town of Carteret to visit the lighthouse, shops and restaurants and the Sunday Brocante. With a car many places of interest can be found including the Friday market in Les Pieux, the ports of Cherbourg and St Malo and of course the Normandy beaches.

Guestbook
Really enjoyed our stay here. Very relaxing our son enjoyed the Military sites at Omaha beach. Lovely beach at Surtainville. Tom, Paula and Alan. From N. Ireland. July 2008.
We had a great week in Surtainville and love the beach house. The local beach is great, good for surfing and sandcastles. We had great weather all week. Johnathan, Rosy, Emily and Benjamin. From Surrey. July 2008.
Our Normandy holiday has been a memorable one particularly because we've had very little rain. The beach house has been a great place to explore near and far. Our boys will remember the pool and pizzeria in lovely Les Pieux, scooting to the lake and boulangerie and the fun they've had bodysurfing on the fantastic beach. Alison, Peter, Jordan and Sidney. From Warwickshire. August 2008
We've enjoyed a fantastic family holiday at the gite. Our 11 month old daughter has loved (literally) her first taste of the sand and sea. It's been an ideal holiday for a young child with the quiet sandy beach so close by and the park only a couple of minutes away. We'd recommend the cakes at the local boulangerie in Surtainville. Claire Stephen & Amelia. From Surrey. Sept 2008
