Getting There:

Your holiday at the French Cottage & Loft starts with the glorious drive up the Blackall Range past Montville and Flaxton – the drive is fun, the views amazing, the air is fresh and the little villages lovely. It is 75 minutes north from Brisbane, 25 minutes to surf beaches and 10 minutes to Montville or Nambour.

Once you have braved “Leap of Faith Lane” (don't worry we haven't lost anyone yet) you will find the French Cottage & Loft.

The House:

This lovely, contemporary home is designed to take advantage of the spectacular views down the Range to the ocean. It has everything you need, quality furnishings, super comfy beds, huge rooms, wonderful art plus extra sleeping options including bunk beds and a very comfortable pull out lounge in The Loft.

Whether you are visiting with family or friends (or both) the generous open plan living areas makes for the perfect house party and a most memorable catch up. The fully equipped gourmet kitchen will please the fussiest 'foodie' and there are two dining areas – in the French country kitchen and our favourite space – the dining pavilion overlooking the garden and views. The Loft is joined by a covered walkway to the main house; it has a generous open plan layout and is self-contained.

When you arrive take time to walk around the gardens and property. You will find many treasures including a kitchen garden, lots of fruit and citrus trees, lovely natives and exotics. Please feel free to help yourself to any of the produce. We have affectionately renamed the lime tree next to The Loft the 'Cocktail Tree' – you have never had sweeter, juicer limes - just perfect for Margaritas or mojitos!

Many people come with great intentions to visit many of the local attractions and find they are happy just doing nothing … just eating, drinking, relaxing and catching up.

The French Cottage is also ideal for families of all ages– with a play fort, huge lawn areas for footy, Frisbee, cricket, wrestling or Petanque (a French game like Boule)! There is a cot, high chair, child gates and even a baby monitor. The large pond/dam is also fenced to stop little people from exploring too far.

The French Cottage and Loft has four bedrooms and three bathrooms: 2 x king, 1 x queen plus bunk beds in main house plus a queen bed and pull out lounge in The Loft. As a result the French Cottage and Loft can accommodate up to 8-12 people.

What To Do:

Mapleton is a small and very authentic village with few tourists. It has an IGA supermarket, a historic pub, bottle shop, restaurants, cafes and a bakery. There is also a pharmacy and interesting gift shops.

Nature: If you love the great outdoors you will not be disappointed. There are a huge range of bush walks for all fitness levels (50m to 50kms!). Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve is spectacular as is Mapleton Falls, Obi Obi boardwalk in Maleny, and Baroona Pocket Dam. There are also several swimming holes and creeks to share with the locals.

Art, Shopping and Food: Enjoy an impressive variety of local artists and galleries. If you like shopping visit Maleny, Montville and Flaxton. Markets at Yandina and Eumundi Markets are worth a visit. Eat out at wonderful restaurants and cafes or gather local supplies for a cook up at home. There are heaps of interesting local producers to visit (Maleny Cheese, Maleny Milk, Kenilworth Cheese and several wineries).

Attractions: Sunshine Coast beaches, Australia Zoo, Eumundi, Yandina and Noosa Markets, Maleny Dairy, Aussie World, Underwater World, Maleny Botanic Gardens, wineries and much, much more…
