Barbados offers such an abundance of natural beauty, culture and history that the island is called “The Gem of the Caribbean.” Located about 300 miles north of Venezuela and the most Eastern of the Caribbean islands, Barbados portrays a delightful blend of West Indian culture and English Tradition. Independent since 1966, Barbados is the most developed of the Caribbean islands and Bridgetown, the 375-year-old historic capital is its colourful and bustling center of activity. Shopping, excellent dining and a funky nightlife are just a few of the many options available. There is an extensive bus system that is cheap and fast, providing an entertaining way to discover the island.

There are magnificent caves to explore, gorgeous landscapes and tropical gardens to visit, and an abundance of wildlife to see, including the mischievous little “green monkeys” that call Barbados their home. On the South and West coasts, the Caribbean Sea with calm blue waters and endless stretches of fine white sandy beaches invites you to relax, while the Atlantic east coast with cliffs and great waves is ideal for wind and sky surfing.

There is lots to do and the choice is not easy, but whether you enjoy some of the 3,000 hours of annual sunshine or chat with a friendly “Bajan” in one of the numerous little rum shops on the roadsides, make sure to relax in the comfort of your private Rental Butler villa at the end of the day. Take in the breathtaking sunsets, have a delicious local dinner prepared for you or just lean back and dream into the starry skies.

Sunset Crest

SUNSET CREST AND HOLETOWN.

The Sunset Crest & Holetown area of Barbados is situated in the parish of St. James, mid-way along the island's beautiful west coast. It is internationally known as the 'Platinum Coast' because of its fine, white sandy beaches. The warm, calm, clear blue sea and incredible sunsets make it a great location, and the area is very popular with the many rich and famous celebrities who love to holiday there.

Sunset Crest is a community consisting of over 300 homes not far from the prestigious Sandy Lane estate. The streets are all named after local plants and flowers.

It is in present-day Holetown - the 3rd largest town in Barbados - that English sailors first landed in Barbados in 1625, claiming the island for King James I. Therefore the first settlement in Holetown was originally named Jamestown. Holetown acquired its name because of the off loading and cleaning of ships in the very small channel located within the immediate vicinity of the town.

Local amenities include:- Many water sports - including scuba diving, snorkelling, para-gliding and jet-skiing - an air-conditioned shopping mall, duty free shops, a supermarket, mini market, coffee shop, banks, a post office, medical centres and a petrol station. There is even a cyber café for those who wish to keep in touch via e-mail while they are on holiday. Two world-class golf courses are close at hand.

The Beach House offers a swimming pool (where there is free wireless Internet access), a restaurant and bar. The swimming pool is available for use by the Sunset Crest Residents' Association members - and guests staying in their properties.

A very good selection of bars and restaurants offer an excellent choice of food, ranging from good value fast food such as pizzas, through Chinese, Italian and Indian to traditional Bajan cuisine. Many of the bars are right next to the beach - the ideal spot for sipping a cool rum punch and watching the sun go down!

Award-winning top class establishments offering beach-side dining are on hand for that special occasion where fine food and service are second to none.

"This house needs someone to care for it and the guests it houses."

This property looks quite nice in the pictures , however the reality is very different. The location is fantastic and there are some lovely ornaments, but the house is in serious need of a deep clean, a lick of paint and some general maintainance. The kitchen was filthy with grease build up and utensils that have seen better days. Broken and missing draw and door handles, broken shutters, a rusty fridge and food cupboards you did not feel comfortable storing your food in. The showers equipped with dirty shower curtains were not particularly inviting, there was just a lack of basic touches such as towel rails shelves in shower, etc. The bed linen was horrendous, worn and with bobbles on ,which made it feel like you were sleeping in a bed of crisp crumbs. The pool area and chairs were particularly Un-inviting and were never sat on. The garage where the washer and dryer was keep is a dumping ground for rubbish , so it was no surprise when we were visited by rats. One seen climbing up the kitchen wall and another in the lounge. We asked to be moved immediately. Fortunately we booked with an agent. This house has few reviews and few bookings and we were suspicious, but needed a last minute booking and it was recommended by the agent Ask based in Barbados, who messed up our original booking 2 weeks before our departure. To add insult to injury after our departure they claim we caused damage to the furniture that was there on our arrival. We won't be using Ask again and for anyone considering this property for a luxury holiday think again , some people's idea of luxury is very different to others. I rate the property a 2*. I would not reccommend this property to an enemy let alone a friend.
