Villa | 3 bedrooms | sleeps 7
Mangoes is a very special place.....
Our large, comfortable, detached house is situated in its own private, lush, tropical gardens just across the road from the white beaches of Barbados' Platinum Coast and the Caribbean sea. Our guests feel welcome here and come to love it as much as we do which makes all that we do to improve it worthwhile.
We have three bedrooms with seven bed spaces so sometimes, our happy renters include a full-house of three generations of family or, possibly three couples; friends or sisters and brothers .... but we know that Mangoes is also ideal for couples. When there's a birthday or an anniversary or it's time to have that special romantic treat just for two, Mangoes is the perfect, most relaxing place in the world.
Whilst staying at Mangoes is obviously ideal for beach holiday lovers, it's worth saying that Barbados has a lot more to offer to tourists who are more adventurous and have a wide range of interests. As the whole island is only 21 miles long by 14 wide, it's eminently possible to mix and match your beach holiday with all manner of alternative activities - more about that later.

The Saint James Parish region
The Caribbean; balmy temperatures, cooling Trade Winds and warm, gentle waters ....... home to this delightful gem, Barbados, where bright colours and relaxation are the order of every day.
Barbados offers a unique cultural blend of the quaint with up-to-the-minute modernity, keeping the the best qualities of both eras. Warm, welcoming people with simple lives and old fashioned values live and work calmly, unscathed, in close proximity to modern standards, smart cars and stunning, brand new architecture.
On offer to the tourist is a fantastically varied coastline, from calm, Caribbean west-coast beaches with soft, white sand and lapping waters to huge cliffs and gigantic mushroom-shaped rocks pounded by the Atlantic waves on the east coast.
Attractions include wonderful botanical gardens with exotic tropical plants, a carefully preserved network of natural caves, historical plantation houses, rum distilleries and many types of water activities from tiny glass-bottom boats to much bigger fun cruises such as swimming with turtles from a catamaran or walking the plank from the Jolly Roger pirate ship!
Whatever you choose to do in Barbados, wherever you go, part of it will remain with you forever.
Sunset Crest is an ideal area to holiday. Set on the Platinum Coast of Barbados, this whole coastal strip has been successfully and sympathetically developed to bring together the best of Barbados traditions with modern day facilities.
Everything you could want is just a few steps away – banks, doctors, chemist (pharmacy) and a clean, well stocked, modern, supermarket with a wide range of local and imported foods.
In addition, restaurants and beach bars abound offering a wide variety of dining experience to suit all pockets ..... beach-side dining is very affordable and very, very special.
Souvenirs and gifts can be bought at the delightful chattel village as well as within cool and chic, air-conditioned stores at the nearby shopping malls.
Moving North, Sunset Crest gradually merges into historic Holetown, where the first settlers landed in 1627 and there is a week-long festival, every February to commemorate this.
The main west-coast highway runs the length of Sunset Crest and beyond; just cross to get to the beaches. The whole area is part of the Folkestone Underwater National Park and snorkelling, diving and other water sports are readily available.

"So good, it was a shame we had to leave, even after an extended stay"
For sure we all had a most enjoyable time. It was a holiday of a lifetime for me and my family. Our stay at Mangoes was like a home from home. Everything was just so convenient, accessible and general… More
Thanks for this super review, with 5 star ratings for each sub-category and the huge complement; your words - "Thank you for offering such first class accommodation and facilities".
Thanks too for the overall rating of 4 stars. There's always room for some improvement isn't there?
We're off to Mangoes ourselves very soon to continue our programme of refurbishment and hopefully to catch a bit of holiday too - either way I just love being there.
Please come back to us whenever you feel you'd like to re-visit, you'd be more than welcome.

"Wonderful Barbados villa"
For the past 5 years we have spent the winter months of January, February & March here in Sunset Crest, Holetown, Barbados. The last 2 years here at Mangoes, which meets our every need. Close to beac… More
So sorry for this late response to your review - I thought I had responded, maybe I clicked something wrong and lost it.
It's a really good review and I'm very grateful. It is difficult keeping up with the number of reviews required when guests are so long stay as your good selves.
It's helpful for future guests to know that Mangoes is so well situated for all amenities as well as the beach and pool and probably your best compliment to us is the fact that you return year on year for so long. It becomes more enjoyable for us too and it has been rewarding building up an email relationship with you during Jan, Feb and March of 2013 and 2014, even though we have never met!
It's good to know we are getting things right for our guests - that's the whole aim after all!
Looking forward to resuming our email relationship next time you're in residence!

Many thanks. I'm so glad you enjoyed Mangoes and our lovely area. Sounds as if you found my favourite beach too - which is one of those you mention turning left (South).
Lucille is a joy - we are lucky to have her - I'll pass on your comments to her, she'll be pleased as punch.
If you ever want to re-visit, please get in touch, you'd be welcome to come back and stay again!
For now, all best wishes for 2014!

I'm glad you had a great time; just reading what you've written makes me realise how much I wish I could be going for a Mangoes-break myself right now.
Don't forget to contact us in the future if you'd like another visit, you'll be very welcome indeed.

If you don't mind, I'd like to add to this by pasting on the unexpected and unsolicited comments you wrote to me privately .....
Just wanted to send a quick note. My family & I stayed at your place with *** ******** last week.
It was just lovely. All the comforts of home, close to everything. And being across the street from the beach and the club's pool made it perfect.
Thank you so much, we would recommend the place without reservation."
I was particularly delighted to receive this AND the review from you - all the more because we'd had no previous communication as my work was all through your lead party *** as above.
A response like yours really gives my husband an I a boost and makes us feel that all our efforts to keep up the standards at Mangoes are worth while.
Thanks so much - we'd love to welcome you back in the future.

Thanks for this compact and very positive review.
We do get a lot of repeat guests and we find we have a new problem ..... we're beginning to question when we'll be able to stay at Mangoes ourselves - the calendar is filling for 2014 already!
That aside, we'd be happy to have you two amongst our regulars, so hurry back!

I must thank you for this lovely review.
Many thanks for my personal compliment - I do try to help guests with queries before their holiday and it's nice to hear that it makes people feel comfortable and at home right away.
Thanks too for your kind words about our staff; they are truly a Godsend.
The garden was probably what made me fall in love with Mangoes when I first saw it, some 10 years ago. It has taken a long time to nurture and coax it into shape and we still have further to go.
I enjoy gardening myself and do a bit of snipping, tying up and planting when I can (I'm not much good at digging unfortunately! Need bigger muscles!)
I hope you will be able to return to Mangoes, we and the staff would all love to have you back.

Hi Tracy and Nigel,
Hi again - writing a post script now (April 2013) just to let you know that we DO now have Wifi and I'm glad to say that it works a dream! We've had no problems with it at all.
Thanks - very nice review.
Glad you liked Mangoes so much and had a great time and we look forward to having you back very soon!
Private Wifi is a bullet we haven't bitten yet. We fight a little shy of it as the last "technical installation" we had was the multi-choice TV which, due to Barbados' propensity for a bit of "manyana, manyana", took almost a year of complications to sort out. Difficult when we are 4,000 miles away in England most of the year. Wifi will happen.
At the same time, Barbados' wonderful laid-back approach to life makes it such a great place to relax totally on holiday - and it sounds and looks, from the photos, as if that's exactly what you did!
Well, that's what it's all about, isn't it?
