The Black Sea Coast region

The ancient Greeks called the Black Sea, the 'hospitable sea'. Clean and calm, without any tides and with a sandy sea bottom sloping gently away making swimming safe for even the youngest visitor, the Black Sea Coast is rightly Bulgaria's premier visitor destination.

Bulgaria's Black Sea Coast offers 378 km of wide golden beaches, plus cliffs, lakes and dunes - perfect for holidays in Bulgaria. It easily competes with the Med on water temperature with the temperature of the water between June and September an average 19C and 23C, with it rising sometimes to nearly 25C in August! - it is also half as saline as the Mediterranean. Bulgaria Sunny Beach Weather

In the far north the mountain range which spans the whole of the country meets the sea forming dramatic cliffs with superb sandy bays. The rocky cliffs give way to the beautiful long beaches of resorts such as Albena and Golden Sands, which themselves are surrounded by forested nature reserves.

Sunny Beach

The villa is situated between Aheloy [less than 1km] and Kableshkovo [5 km]. Kableshkovo is only 15 kilometres from both the towns of Nessebar and Pomorie. Set inland it is a small town with a modern sports complex and lovely scenery nearby. You can also travel to Sunny Beach which has plenty to offer from water sports and relaxation on the beach to the many restaurants and cafes in the town itself.

"Holiday of a lifetime!"

We flew to Sofia where we picked up our rental car and proceeded to drive down to Plovdiv, the oldest city in Europe with stunning Roman and Thracian remains, where we spent two very hot nights! After which we continued down to sunny beach, which took about 3 and a half hours with a stop.
When we arrived at the vineyards complex and saw the track leading towards the private villas at Floral Hills our hearts sank.But...
When we arrived at villa 15 we were delighted to find an immaculate villa that was exactly as we had seen in the photographs. We stayed in the villa for 14 lovely days and have already booked to stay in September 2014.
The Bulgarian manager (Gabriel ) was fantastic, helpful bright and cheerful and the cleaners seemed to come in very regularly with fresh linen and towels.
We found a fantastic restaurant in Ravda connected to a hotel,(can't remember the name !) which served authentic Bulgarian dishes for very few Levs !! A little bit further on Nessebar was a delight, full of little restaurants and boutique shops.
We often stopped at the Vineyards hotel for a last drink by the beautiful pool and actually went in the spa for a morning of extra relaxation !! We really enjoyed the privacy of the villa, but it was nice to have such a lovely hotel on the doorstep.
As for the hoppers, we saw a few on our travels, but have no idea what the other people are talking about !!!

"Good and Bad!"

Ok I am not going to be one of these people that writes a glowing review. Nor am I going to be one that slates every single little thing and is ridiculously picky. I will be as honest as I can.

This villa is a nice place - it is quite far away from everything so would be perfect for people who just want to get away for a week and are happy in the company with whom they have travelled. The pool is lovely and the villa itself is clean and has everything you need really. I would suggest the decor be updated a little as the sofa has seen better days - I would also recommend removing the ceiling to floor curtains due to my next point.

The BUGS! Now I don't know what they are called (mutants) but they look like flies but don't have wings - but they do HOP! A lot! They were everywhere. Now we sort of got used to it after a while and could keep on top of them after we went and purchased bug spray from the shop (personally i think this should have been provided by the villa). What was not good however, was having to remove the masses that had already made their way in before we arrived (PLEASE GET A DRAFT EXCLUDER FOR THE FRONT DOOR - Problem would be majorly reduced). The cleaner had come and cleaned the villa but she had left piles of dead bugs all around as well as lots of live ones. The curtains were riddled with them. Having arrived at 3am after quite a traumatic journey (due to the taxi driver who thought it was perfectly normal to drive at three times the speed limit and in the middle of the road) we then had to spend 3 more hours (knackered) trying to kill these things and remove them. Not happy!!!

You will either need to hire a car or spend a lot of money on taxi fares as nothing really (apart from the nearby hotel) is within walking distance. The shop at the hotel was shocking as was the politeness of the reception staff. You will not get everything you need. You won't even get a smile.

The BBQ looks like it might fall over if you put one piece of coal on it - plus you would have to go and buy the coal etc. (we decided against this). The table in the dining room area is a health hazard - we all banged our knees on the massive bit sticking down in the middle at some point during our stay. There isn't really any shade anywhere if you burn easily.

The TV is useless as in no channels worth watching (it does work) - there is a DVD though so you may want to take some DVDs with you to watch as nothing is there.

Right good points as I realise I have been ranting a little...
The pool is really nice although we couldn't get the jacuzzi to work (advertised as there being one) and the bathrooms were clean.
GABZ - the onsite manager. The holiday would have been a total let down had it not been for her. She is so helpful and so sweet. The place would fall apart without her. Thanks Gabz!!! :-)

Sunny Beach is interesting - an experience - put it that way!

PS: The taxi from the airport should not be more than 50 LEV. Don't get conned like we did!

I would like to thank you for saying that the Villa is a nice clean place and that the pool is lovely and the manager could not have been more helpful.
However, I am so sorry that the grasshoppers (apparently they are black in Bulgaria and so are much less appealing) had over run the whole area during your stay. We have been going to Bulgaria for 10 years now and have never seen anything like this before, and we would most certainly have provided some sort of spray had we known.
In fact the management arranged for the entire surrounding area to be sprayed, over a period of days in order to combat the grasshopper epidemic. We have also personally taken measures to ensure that the Villa is much more grasshopper proof !!
I would also like to point out that we do recommend that our guests hire a car for the duration of their stay, as we are a 10 minute drive away from both Sunny Beach and Nessebar.
The Villa is our pride and joy and we are so very sorry that this unfortunate event has affected your holiday in this way.
