The Black Sea Coast region
The eastern Bulgarian coastline is washed by the Black Sea with 380 km of calm, warm water, healthy air, fine golden sands, sand dunes and mineral water springs. The average summer temperature is 28 degrees C with approximately 1700hours of sunshine from May to October. Sunny Beach lies nestled on the Black sea coast about 22 miles from Bourgas. It is the largest Bulgarian sea resort situated in a wide semi-circular bay, with 5 miles of golden sand and sand dunes. It faces east and has magnificent views of the sunrise. The back-drop is the Balkan mountain range, protecting the area. Sunny Beach (Slanchev Bryag) resort is situated 35 km north of Bourgas and 430km east of Sofia. The resort stretches from the village of Vlas to the north and the town of Nessebar to the south. Sunny beach is generally regarded as the best beach on the coast.
