The Black Sea Coast region
Sunny Beach is a bearer of the impressive Blue Flag prize. This is one of the few places along the Black Sea coast where you can still see authentic well-formed sand dunes, the most beautiful ones are situated in the resort's southern part. Further north, both Albena and Golden Sands boast spectacular long, clean beaches.
Nature lovers will want to take in the refreshing air and stunning scenery of the country's National Parks. Largely made up of spectacular, forested mountain ranges studded with sparkling lakes, caves and waterfalls, Bulgaria has as many as ten national reserves, all offering myriad activities such as hiking and walking trails, mountain biking, white water rafting and caving. Closest to the Black Sea coast is the Strandzha Park, an idyllic area of deep forests, rife with birds and wildlife. Nearby is the Ropotamo Reserve, famous for its water-lilied river, bird sanctuaries and bays, and further north is the Golden Sands National Park, where if you're lucky you can spot wild deer, boar and falcons.

Sunny Beach / Sunny Beach Main Resort area
Sunny Beach is by far the largest resort on the Black Sea coast, offering many hotels interspersed with restaurants, bars and shops. Buses run up and down the main strip and also out to Varna and Bourgas. Sunny Beach also boasts the best night-life with lively night-spots on offer.
There is plenty for all the family to enjoy - great sports and excursions to sample, a rich choice of excellent restaurants, discos and nightclubs. Wherever you go you will find that the prices are excellent compared to the UK. Sunny Beach has many shops, stalls and amusements selling all kinds of novelties. Shopping for souvenirs is great fun. It's the place for kids too - playgrounds, slides, games, swings and pools For a chance to get away from the hustle and bustle of the largest Bulgarian resort and enjoy the tranquillity of days gone by visit the nearby fishing village of Nessebur (the bus ride takes about 15 minutes and costs less than 20 pence). So go ahead and take advantage of everything that Sunny Beach has to offer - long sunny days, great food, top-rate nightlife, sports and a choice of leisure activities.
Sunny Beach features a wide semi-circular bay facing east, with a beach over 8km long with 30-60m wide fine golden sand and a clean and gently sloping sea with no dangerous fish and approx 1700 hours of sunshine from May through to September. The average daily temperature in summer is 27°C.
Every conceivable opportunity for sports are available: surfing, water skiing and parachuting, hang-gliding and banana boats, sailing, paddle boats, cutters, scooters, rowing boats, tennis courts, beach volleyball, playgrounds, mini-golf, skittle alley, 10 pin bowling, horse riding, fitness centres, go-karting.
There are 2 water parks nearby . One, 2 miles from Ravda and themed around a castle. The other, Action Aquapark is on the outskirts of Sunny Beach. Both have a great variety of slides for all ages with bars and restaurants inside the parks.
Nessebur - Not to be missed! Just down the road from Sunny Beach, Its been designated as a world heritage site. The old town dates back around 9000 years with buildings that date back to 11th century. The old part of town has retained its original romantic atmosphere. Narrow cobblestone lanes, tiny squares, souvenier shops, pubs, tavernas and open air concerts/displays make it a fantastic place to visit day or night. There are some fantastic restaurants overlooking the bay.

Airport Transfers can be arranged at 35 euros each way. Taxis: plenty at Bourgas airport. Distance from Bourgas is 20km (12 miles). Varna is 95km (54 miles).
