The Black Sea Coast region
The Eastern Bulgarian coastline is washed by the Black Sea with 380 km of calm, warm water, healthy air, fine golden sands, sand dunes and mineral water springs. The average summer temperature is 28 degrees C. Sunny Beach lies nestled on the Black Sea coast only 30 km from the nearest airport at Bourgas. It is the largest Bulgarian sea resort situated in a wide semi-circular bay, with 5 miles of golden sand and facing east it has magnificent views of the sunrise. The back-drop is the Balkan mountain range, protecting the area. The gently sloping beach and warm, crystal clear water of this Blue Flag beach make it a safe place to swim and a perfect place for a family with children.
For the sightseer, Nessebar, just a 10 min drive away, is a must. The 14th century church and houses on this rocky peninsula have made it a Unesco World Heritage Site.

There are lots of local bars and restaurants dotted around the village centre which are suitable for family holidays.
How to get there
Bourgas airport is 20 minutes from Sunny Beach. Varna airport is about 1.5 - 2 hours transfer depending on traffic. Flights start from £89 return and go to Varna all year and to Bourgas from March to October. (Try www.cheapflights.co.uk who fly from regional airports as well as the main ones) When you get there, taxis are cheap.
