The Marche/Abruzzo region

Sulmona (AQ) is inside of the Abruzzi region. Ancient city of art, whose origins are more ancient than Rome. At Easter there are religious celebrations with a famous and suggestive procession on Holy Friday and Easter Sunday that drew onlookers and tourists from various parts of Italy and from abroad.

In July takes place la "Giostra Cavalleresca", test of ability between Knights, which is divided into several days. It's a recallling of an ancient tournament of Knights which took place in the city for centuries until the 17th century. Sulmona is the birthplace of Latin poet Ovidius, contemporary of the Roman Emperor Augustus, and place of production of confetti, special almond sweets. Close to mountain areas, summer and winter tourist resorts like Roccaraso, Pescocostanzo, Rivisondoli and Scanno, and close enough to the city of Pescara where there is the seaport and the airport; Sulmona is located close to the highway to Rome and there is the railways station on the route Rome-Pescara.

It's possible to go by a short trip to skiing area as Roccaraso , Scanno and Rivisondoli; in Scanno there isalso a beatiful lake, good also for fishing, and for long and healty strolls around, or by cicling.
