Home description
Sucina is a great base for a holiday in Murcia, being conveniently close to the lovely beaches of the Mar Menor. These are very laid-back and greatly favoured by Spanish families - with the result that the food is fantastic and fairly priced! Should you tire of sand and sea, we are also within easy reach of the area's great golf courses, or, if that is not your "bag" then explore the historic inland towns and cities. Castles and vineyards, walking in the mountains, the famous tapas route around the Plaza de Flores in Murcia - this is true Spain, for the Spanish, yet now welcoming visitors from outside. Our comfortable 2-bed villa is within easy walking distance of the heart of this traditional village, with a range of cafes and restaurants. The village also boasts two English-speaking mini-supermarkets for those essentials that you miss, as well as a small local bakery for fresh bread & croissants. Our local tapas bar does some of the best seafood in the area and there is also a great cafe for al fresco dining and dancing with the cosmopolitan community that Sucina now boasts.
We love returning to our villa after a hard day at the beach or around the inland sights for a refreshing shower and a cooling drink on our roof terrace, watching the sunset. The shared pool, just 100 m away, is seldom busy and the children splash and swim whilst we relax. Away from the bustle and noise of the coastal strip, we unwind and share our memories of our happy day - a boat trip; a visit to the historic port of Cartagena or to the wilder beaches of Portman, or the Moorish fort of the Sun at Lorca.

The Costa Calida/Murcia region
Costa Calida offers a warm and sunny climate throughout the year. Even in the cooler months, it is still substantially warmer than UK and Northern Europe! The area is famed for its horticulture and it also has excellent wines, whilst of course tourism is a key in the local economy. The numerous golf courses afford great recreation and Sucina village is a en excellent base from which to explore them independently. The gentle, warm waters of the Mar Menor and the line of lovely sandy beaches with promenades, bars and cafes are ideal for family holidays and are very popular with Spanish visitors, too. Inland, old Moorish castles, mountain villages and artesan crafts such as ceramics flourish, making exploration rewarding. Almond blossom in Spring is especially beautiful.
Sucina Village area
Sucina village is easily reached by car. The small square has banks for cash via ATM, there is an internet cafe, a bakers and two small supermarkets as well as bars and cafes. There is a small market on a Monday, with fruit and vegetables and a few cheap clothes and toys. It is friendly and English is widely understood. A few kilometres away, the Dos Mares complex offers a large supermarket where you can stock up with essentials at excellent prices.
How to get there
Sucina is conveniently situated for budget airlines flying into Murcia (San Javier), which is only a 20 minute drive away. It is also easily reached from Valencia or Alicante (45 mins approx). Bargain car hire is available eg through Solmar.

Further details indoors: The property itself has been individually furnished and presented for style and comfort, which has been complimented upon by our guests. The kitchen is well equipped, including a large fridge-freezer, dish-washer and automatic washing machine. The open-plan dining and living area offers space and comfort and the bedrooms have fitted cupboards. The main bedroom can be set up as a twin or double, according to requirements. Tables, chairs and sun umbrella's are set up on the roof terrace and front terrace. The street has a mix of permanent international residents, long term lets and holiday-homes, creating a community feel and many owners have made lovely gardens.
Further details outdoors: View from the rooftop extend over the plains of Murcia to a distant shimmer that can even include a glimpse of the sea, to the mountains that rise behind Sucina. These are especially dramatic as the sun sets.
The nearby pool has a small paddling pool for smaller children as well as a clean and safe pool for swimmers, with a maximum depth of around 1.7 metres. It is shared by a small part of the community and is maintained and cleaned daily. A large shaded area with tables is ideal for a picnic by the pool or for table-top games. There is no lifeguard, so children should be accompanied. Note that as it is unheated, it is unavailable October-March approx., depending on the temperature.
On a practical note, there is space to park your car on the street or behind lockable gates in the driveway.

A security/damage deposit of £150 is payable at the time of booking, this deposit is in addition to the cost of the rental period. This deposit will be refunded within 7 days of departure following an inspection of the property by the owner or his/her agent. Any damages caused will be charged from this deposit by the owner. It is your responsibility to report any damage incurred to the owner or agent as soon as it is incurred. Should the property be left in an unreasonable condition, charges may be made from the deposit to rectify the condition.
Payment in full is due Eight weeks prior to the booking commencement date and should be made direct to the owner. If a booking is made within Eight weeks or less of arrival, payment in full is due immediately including the additional security deposit.
Cancellation policy Failure to pay the full rental cost no later than Eight weeks prior to arrival will result in the loss of the security deposit and the booking cancelled, the property will then be re-advertised as available for bookings on the website.

Your responsibility The accommodation must be left in a clean and tidy condition; otherwise additional charges may be incurred. You are responsible for the property during your stay. You agree to report and pay for any damages caused to the property and or caused to any of the contents of the property during your stay. Only named clients may use the accommodation booked by you, additional guests cannot be added above the maximum amount stated on the individual advert, you agree not to sub-let or re-assign the property to any other party. We reserve the right to ask you or any member of your party to vacate the property immediately at any time following a complaint of unacceptable behaviour that may in our opinion result in spoiling the enjoyment, comfort or safety of others within the community.

Arriving/Departing Accommodation will be available from 4PM on the day of arrival, it is your responsibility to supply flight details and arrival times so arrangements can be made by the owner or our agent to meet you at the property on arrival. Accommodation should be vacated by 11AM on the day of departure and should be left in a clean and tidy condition, keys should be returned to the owner or our agent on departure.
Linen, Towels & Cleaning All bedding and towels are including in the cost of your accommodation excluding beach towels. Beach towels must be provided by you and towels supplied in the accommodation should not be used or removed from the property for external use. The accommodation booked will be supplied to you in a clean and tidy manner with all beds etc made up. Cleaning following departure of your stay is also included in the cost of your rental as long as the accommodation is left in a clean and tidy manner, any additional cleaning required may be charged to you. Additional cleaning can be arranged during your stay (i.e. following the end of the first week of a two week stay). These additional cleans are charged at an additional cost to your rental cost and should be booked at the same time as your booking. Payment is due on arrival direct to the owner or our agent in cash.
Emergency Call Outs The following charges will apply should you require an emergency call out and are payable by you to our agent on their arrival at the property . Between 9am and 9pm - 25 Euro . Between 9pm and 9am - 50 Euro - Subject to availability
If keys are lost and not recovered a one off charge will be made on supplying a replacement set of keys of 100 Euro in addition to the above call out charges to cover the cost of replacing the locks and keys.
Extras You have the option to book additional services at the time of booking such as, Welcome packs, Cots, High chairs etc. You agree to pay for these additional services on arrival in cash to the owner or our agent.
