It benefits from a superb location in a peaceful no through road within Stroumbi village, where you will find a good selection of amenities including an ATM in the village square and the modern well equipped 24 hour Miros Centre at the top of the village, direction Polis (facilities below). You can still enjoy and sample the traditional Cypriot way of life here, yet be within easy striking distance of both Paphos and Polis and beaches. Everything needed in daily life can be found locally. It is cheaper to eat out here than in the resorts, and as you are off the beaten track, you will experience Cypriot hospitality in Stroumbi village.
As well as this area having some of the most stunning far reaching views in all of Cyprus, Stroumbi's fertile soil and excellent climate means it is ideal for grape vines. It is one of the largest grape producers in Paphos, having the famous Sodap winery in the village, and many excellent smaller ones nearby (ask Tanja your Rep.). There are numerous ancient chapels here too. Famous for prehistoric findings and the Byzantine name of neighbouring Polemi, (found on ancient maps). Paphos Town, with its interesting mix of old and new, large selection of shops and daily market, is just 12km away. This well equipped Paphos stone house is ideal for couples, friends and small families and we have low rates for 2 adults.

"Quiet, relaxing and private"
If you want somewhere to completely unwind then I would recommend you consider this bungalow. We rented the stone house through Sundance Villas and the information pack given to us was very comprehensive and the directions and descriptions were accurate. I would recommend Sundance Villas as an agent and also the stone house as a place to stay. In Cyprus the neighbours were friendly and helpful but not intrusive, the owner of the house popped round to see if all was well and very thoughtfully brought us some courgettes from their allotment. Might sound odd, but there are two Lidl supermarkets in Paphos now, so we stocked up on lovely cypriot food there and had plenty of barbecues by the poolside. You need a car really for this area - we ended up with a Kia Picanto which struggled a bit up the hills but managed. When you are reading road maps - be aware that B roads in Cyprus are maybe not as well surfaced as you might expect! We had some interesting experiences when we were exploring. In June the weather was lovely but incredibly hot still, where the bungalow is there is a little more breeze than down at the coast which was lovely. Down in Paphos town the heat felt very heavy and we were pleased to get back up into the hill where the air was lighter. We needed air conditioning for the bedroom, but the living room and kitchen you can open up to the pool and get air in that way. Around the pool it was nice to have different options of where to sit and there was plenty of shade under the terrace or the parasol to keep us cool when we needed it. I would love to stay here again if I had the chance. And if you decide to stay in this bungalow I hope you have as nice a time as we did. Gaynor

The Paphos region
Paphos, once the capital of Cyprus, is on the south western edge of the island, and well placed for excursions to all the main sights. Dubbed the 'Western Cyprus Riviera', it's quieter than the southern resorts of Larnaca and Limassol, but still offers plenty for sun-seekers, families, cultural types and outdoor enthusiasts alike.
History and culture are two of the island's big selling points, and you don't have to venture far to find them in Paphos, where the whole town is UNESCO listed. The island's most visited site is the Tomb of the Kings, a stone's throw from the city centre, dating back to 4 BC. High dignitaries and officials, rather than kings, were buried here, but the underground houses for the dead, with their imposing entrance columns and wells, are worthy of their royal tag.
As well as being the mythical birthplace of the goddess Aphrodite, Paphos is famous for having been visited by the apostle Paul. The town is packed with churches and ecclesiastical monuments and visitors can follow in the saint's footsteps on a religious sightseeing route.
Close to Paphos harbour is the house of Dionysos, a villa containing some of the best preserved mosaics in the Mediterranean region. Mainly depicting scenes from Greek mythology, they were accidentally discovered by a farmer ploughing his field. It's worth recommending that clients go on a guided tour to bring the mosaics to life.
A 'must see' site outside the town is the ancient city kingdom of Kourion, on the inland road between Limassol and Paphos. Arguably the island's most spectacular archaeological treasure, it is dominated by a magnificent Greco-Roman theatre.
With water temperatures ranging from 16C-27C, and virtually year-round sunshine, Paphos is a paradise for water sports fans. Sailing, windsurfing, water skiing, parascending, jet skiing and surfing are among the attractions on offer, and all the big resort hotels have water sports centres.
Below the surface, Cyprus boasts one of the longest diving seasons in the Mediterranean, from March until November, with exceptional conditions and crystal-clear water. Some of the best dive sites can be found off Paphos, including the remains of sunken shipwrecks.
Back on dry land, the stunning stretch of coast between Paphos and Limassol is where visitors can take the classic shot of Aphrodite's Rock, said to mark the spot where the goddess emerged from the sea.
The Baths of Aphrodite, where she relaxed after entertaining her lovers, can be found on the Akamas peninsular further west. Anyone who bathes there will supposedly be blessed with eternal youth, but it's strictly forbidden to jump in to find out if the legend has any truth in it.
Paphos is at its liveliest at night, when the bars, restaurants and clubs bring together tourists and locals of all ages. The heart of the nightlife scene is Agiou Antoniou, aka Bar Street. Popular haunts include Woodyz Music Bar, the late-night Hollywood Music Bar, the Keg and Barrel sports bar and the retro Starsky and Hutch Disco Bar.
Strike out in any direction from Paphos and, within a few miles, you'll find long stretches of sandy beaches, rugged hills and rolling countryside.
Miros Centre, offering a wide selection from gyros (mini kebab wrap) and kebab, waffles, pizzaria, minimarket, coffee shop, home made food i.e. moussaka, take away, internet etc.: 1km, butchers (opposite Miros): 1km, Stroumbi village square: 300m, Coral Bay: 11km, Paphos Town: 14km, Paphos Airport: 18km, Polis: 17km, Latchi: 19km.
The Aphrodite trail is considered one of the most beautiful walks in Cyprus, stretching 8km along the Akamas. The Akamas, an unspoilt stretch of coastline is an area of outstanding natural beauty and has been protected as such. The trail follows the route described in Greek mythology used by Aphrodite and her lover Adonis.
The trail begins at the Baths of Aphrodite which is a very popular tourist spot on the island. (The Baths of Aphrodite Fish Tavern here is a favourite with our clients.) From here the route ascends towards the 860 year old ancient oak tree, believed to be Aphrodite mythical lovers’ nest. Other highlights of the trail include stunning views of the blue lagoons from the high point at Moutti tis Sotiras. We highly recommend the boat trip from Latchi to see all of this, (especially if it is too hot to walk) it is stunningly beautiful and you get the change to swim in the clear turquoise sea too!
In Spring time you can expect to see colourful displays of wild flowers, although you are forbidden to pick them. There are many shrubs such as carob, olives, strawberry trees and mastic. Your senses will also be treated to a heady cocktail of scents such as wild thyme, rosemary, pine and juniper berries. This trail gives you a true sense of hiking in an unspoilt paradise. On the way back you can stop and buy brightly coloured dragon fruit. (No sign, just look for the fruit and stop).
