Apartment | 1 bedrooms | sleeps 2
Bobby's Nook is an AA 3 Star award apartment situated in the village of Selsley, close to Stroud. Purposely converted to holiday accommodation, Bobby's Nook is a cosy and comfortable home from home, ground floor apartment for just the two of you, with level lawn area, secluded garden (table, chairs, loungers and barbecue) to the rear and safe onsite parking. The double bedroom has an ensuite wetroom with a shower "you won't want to get out of"! The modern kitchen is a good size, is well-equipped and has a rural view across fields, (the Arts and Crafts period Selsley church can be seen in winter). We take pride in care and attention to detail, with all towels, and kitchen and bedroom linen provided. All guests have been impressed with how well-equipped the apartment is and a recent couple suggested we highlight this in our information so that you won't need to bring your hairdryer or kitchen utensils! Also, plenty of storage space is provided to stow your belongings and hang your clothes.
The surrounding countryside is peaceful with amazing views especially to the west (distant River Severn, Forest of Dean) giving awesome sunsets in summer; relax... throw open the window blinds, and enjoy! Bobby's Nook is adjacent to the Cotswold Way and the attractive Selsley Circuit (5 miles of great variety and interest). Many beautiful, typically Cotswold, villages and bohemian Stroud, with its highly acclaimed farmers' market, are close by. There are also many events in the area including Cheltenham Gold Cup, Fairford Air Tattoo, Gloucestershire Steam Extravaganza, Bristol Balloon Fiesta and Gloucester Tall Ships. Good access to M5; Bath, Bristol, Cardiff, Gloucester, Cheltenham, Oxford, Stratford. If you are looking for a Cotswolds break with your loved one, whether energetically walking the Cotswold Way, cycle touring or simply relaxing, savour the delights of the Cotswolds' Stroud Valleys area with Bobby's Nook as your base. A warm welcome and a welcome pack (including tasty fresh eggs from our own chickens) await to begin your holiday. There are many ways to spend your days and something for everyone; perhaps a visit to the romantic Rococo Gardens in Painswick, the National Arboretum in Westonbirt., the National Trust Newark Park or Slimbridge Wetlands Wildlife Reserve. Ordnance Survey maps of the area are available to borrow. In summer, while away a relaxing evening with a barbeque in the garden whilst watching a beautiful sunset in the distance over the Forest of Dean. There are also many local pubs and restaurants to sample; our information pack contains some suggestions and only one mile to the supermarket. We are happy to say that we have two pubs within walking distance: The Kings Head, Kings Stanley, is approximately 1 mile and Google Maps says this takes 18 minutes to walk, and our local pub, The Bell, Selsley which has now re-opened after an extensive refurbishment and is serving very delicious food. We are always happy to answer any questions you may have regarding Bobby's Nook and the area so please feel free to send us an enquiry. If you are celebrating a special event during your stay such as a birthday or anniversary and you would like something delivered before your arrival or provided for your loved one, please ask - we are very pleased to help where possible.
Our latest entry in our Guest Book, July 2014: "Lovely views, we'll never forget. Thank you for making our stay so very comfortable. Thank you for chocolate biscuits and flowers - lovely touch! We had a great 10 days.... lovely and peaceful to return home to Bobby's Nook. Wish we could have stayed longer."

The Central England/Cotswolds region
There is so much to do in the Cotswolds that it makes this such a lovely place to stay! There is a huge range of well known events such as Cheltenham Gold Cup, Gloucester Tall Ships, Fairford Royal International Air Tattoo, the dangerous Cooper's Hill Cheese Rolling, Gloucestershire Steam and Vintage Extravaganza, the Bristol Balloon Fiesta etc. Before Christmas visit the German Market in Cheltenham to get inspiration for lovely pressies, (whilst sampling delicious gluwein and bratwurst) or enjoy the festive atmosphere of the Enchanted Christmas Illuminations of the National Arboretum at Westonbirt. There are also lots of other attractions such as the wonderfully romantic Rococo Gardens at Painswick (fabulous early Spring displays of vast drifts of snowdrops), Slimbridge Wetland Wildlife Reserve, the National Trust Newark Park... the list is endless. Many guests also recommend a visit to the Farmers' Market in Stroud and our two walking distance pubs: The King's Head, King's Stanley (1 mile) and The Bell, Selsley 2/3 mile which has recently re-opened following an extensive refurbishment and is serving very delicious food. There are also plenty of other lovely places to eat, some of which are recommended in our information pack. There are maps of the region you can borrow, however, if you would prefer to do your own research while you are here we also offer a free WiFi internet connection so that you can research your own destinations. Do bear in mind, however, that due to our rural location internet speeds are slightly slower than in urban areas.
From Bobby's Nook you will find many public footpaths, including the Cotswold Way. In fact, we are a stone's throw from the 5 mile Selsley Circuit which offers much interest and variety, and incorporates some of the area's local industrial heritage (details are in our information pack). There are superb views to be enjoyed from Selsley Common, just a short walk up the hill, where commoners still utilise their commoners' grazing rights in summer. If you like, you can also catch a bus to Stroud, visit the highly renowned Farmers' Market and have a coffee/tea in one of the many cafes (we like Mills Cafe in Withey's Yard). Selsley Church is the last of the great Cotswold wool churches and is famous for its beautiful stained glass window by William Morris. As mentioned above, our local pub, the Bell, is now open once again and is serving lovely food.

"ANT INFESTATION IN WOOD WORK SURROUNDING PATIO DOORS IN LOUNGE"
We Stayed at Bobby's nook in August the cottage was clean and well equipped for a holiday let. At first all was well when we arrived then we found that there was a large infestation of ants a… More
Unfortunately no suggestions have been made in this review as to how our service could have been improved so it is difficult to know what more could have been done. This is a pity as we are always ready to take on board any ideas for improvement. We encourage our guests to contact us if there is anything they need and to complete our own independent feedback form at the end of their stay, though obviously in this case the opportunity was declined. The above review is inconsistent with the fact that the reviewer stayed a night longer than the original booking for which no payment was made.
We are always happy to assist with our guests requirements and on the evening of the second day of the rental a fast response was given to a request for further equipment. Several stores were immediately phoned to find out if the item was in stock and a special trip was made, minutes before closing time, to acquire this.
With regard to our WiFi connection, we do make it clear that this is a rural area, consequently the broadband is not as fast as that found in, for example, inner cities. Please check your equipment as no problem has been found at the property.
With regard to the ants, which have been prevalent this summer owing to the hotter weather, during this rental, we contacted the local Environmental Health department who assured us that ants do not pose a health or hygiene hazard. We called them to treat the area but being at peak time of year for other insects they were fully booked dealing with other more dangerous infestations such as wasps and we were given advice which we subsequently followed. We contacted several privately run companies and the earliest available booking was on the Friday as mentioned. In the end, this appointment could not be met so the treatment took place on the following Monday and we have paperwork regarding this. The operative who visited told us that no action was necessary, however, for peace of mind we asked him to treat the area anyway. The guests who stayed over the intervening weekend were informed of the situation on arrival. We were pleased to see that the reviewer did sit out in the garden, however, we were surprised that the table and chairs had been moved from the garden at the rear, where there were no ants, and placed outside the patio doors in the front garden.
With regard to the entrance, this type of lane is completely characteristic of this area, which has amazing views, as a result of only a short climb. Our driveway is a few metres up a short lane which takes surprisingly large vehicles. We have a large private drive, with ample space to turn large vehicles round and a level parking area that is close to the apartment. It is of course possible to park on the road below if preferred, with only a short walk back up the lane, although none of our guests have found this necessary.
Lastly, we make it clear in the ad that this is a non-smoking property. We also remedied various items at the end of this rental so that they would not inconvenience future guests, for example, the microwave that had been broken.

"Stunning views from a modern but cosy property on the cotswold way"
We spent 3 nights at Bobby's Nook for a short holiday and to attend a wedding nearby. On arrival we were impressed by the stunning views from the large windows on both sides of the poperty. Bobby's Nook if located on the side of a hill on the Cotswold Way, with lots of footpaths nearby and was very peaceful; whilst still being only a very short drive from the nearest supermarket in Stroud and not too far from local attractions such as Westonbirt arboretum and the pretty Cotswold towns of Tetbury and Nailsworth. The accomodation itself had been recently decorated to a high standard with a well-kitted out kitchen, great for self-catering. The owner was very welcoming and left flowers and biscuits for our arrival, as well as local information. Would thoroughly recommend.
Thank you very much for your positive comments; we are really pleased you enjoyed your stay!
